The director picked up the phone, and a delicate voice came through from the other end, "We had agreed to have dinner tonight, but something has come up last minute, and I can't make it."
"That's okay, we can meet up another time just the same."
"I'm really sorry, I'll treat you to dinner next time we meet."
"That won't do, how can I let a lady pay."
A seductive giggle came from the other end of the phone, "Then I'll host, and you pay the bill."
"Alright, we'll make another arrangement next time."
After hanging up, the director faced a pair of gossiping eyes beside him.
Because the filming set was usually noisy, the director's phone volume was always set to the highest, so that when the call connected, the sound would spill out.
The Assistant Director beside him had heard the entire conversation loud and clear.
"You had a blind date tonight, where had you planned to eat?"
The director awkwardly touched the table, "Well… buffet."
