Aimee POV
I could feel the earth between my toes, the trees nearby, and every animal in the vicinity. I took a deep breath smelling everything nature had to offer. My senses intensified as I concentrated on my surroundings. I slowly opened my eyes to see the faces of my dear ones. I was a magnificent blue wolf and I also gave off a magical blue glow.
"Oh my god! Aimee your wolf is gorgeous!" my mother exclaimed. I could see the look of admiration reflecting in their eyes. I quickly preened and then sat majestically wagging my tail patiently waiting to see their wolves.
My mother was the first to shift. She made it look so easy, within seconds she had shifted. A beautiful maroon wolf was standing in front of me where my mother once stood. She wagged her tail and yipped at me. She came up to me and rubbed her head against mine. All I could feel was the love and admiration she had for me through that small gesture of affection. She sat next to me looking expectantly at my father and Sam. They both nodded their heads and began their shift. My father stood taller than my mother and me. With his jet-black fur and golden eyes, he rubbed along my side and sat on the other side of me. My attention now was drawn to a similar blue glow now standing before me. There stood before me a wolf, that stood taller than my father, with blue-black fur that radiated the same blue glow. As he approached me, I noticed the glow growing brighter. Sam reached his snout out and I followed suit. When our noses touched our glow became one and the most amazing electricity ran down my flank. The amount of love I felt was a little overwhelming but I knew he was just showing me his feelings for me. I reciprocated his gesture and saw him shudder.
I turn abruptly and took off in a full sprint towards the woods. The way the wind felt in my fur was amazing. I could feel so much more in my wolf form. I could feel the pulse of the forest like it was calling me, congratulating me on my transformation. The forest seemed to welcome me with open arms. Soon I heard the pounding footfalls of my parents and Sam. We came to a clearing far from my home where I would go to think. The waterfalls were sparkling as if happy to see me. I flung myself to the pillow-like grass that covered the floor of the clearing. They all followed suit, laying close to me.
Sam turned to me and licked me. Suddenly I could hear him in my head like I can hear Ash.
"You look so beautiful. You are breath taking." Sam said nudging me with his snout.
"How can I hear you?" I asked.
"You are a part of my pack. When we finish mating and become one, we will have a special link no one else can intrude upon. You can also mind-link your parents and brother, as well as anyone in the pack." He explained.
"Really? That's convenient." I said with a chuckle. "I will try it later. Right now, I just want to feel the world around me." I said while I looked up at the sky, sparkling with stars.
I looked at the moon, which seemed to be smiling down at us, I smiled back. Thank you, moon goddess, for granting me this wonderful life. I tilted my head back and howled, for the first time in my life I feel normal, welcomed, and like I finally found where I belong. The others howled as well, giving thanks to the moon goddess. Soon more howls were heard, adding to the chorus being sent to the moon. It was so beautiful I felt a little teary-eyed knowing this was my pack.
The chorus subsided back to the sounds of the forest. I rose from my prone position, "I'm starving. Let's head back and eat." I said through the mind-link to all three at once. My parents' heads snapped towards me in surprise, then nodded. I giggled a little at their reaction. We all walked back to the house together, stopping at the blanket on the ground to pick up the robes to cover us after shifting back. Sam grabbed a robe and passed it to me.
"Go behind the tree over there and shift back." He said then grabbing his own and finding a tree to shift behind.
The shift back to human form was easier than shifting to my wolf. I shuddered at the cold air touching my skin. Dawning the robe, I went back to where my parents were now standing in their own robes.
"How do you feel? Are you taking this all okay?" my mom asked while hugging me. I could feel that a weight had been lifted from everyone's shoulders. They seemed to feel whole again.
"I'm doing great. I feel complete and wonderful. Just hungry is all. I haven't had anything to eat since breakfast." I answered. My mom smiled and nodded.
We all went into the kitchen. I gasped in surprise to find my brother Dustin setting the food out.
I squealed, "Dustin you're here!" I sprinted to him, colliding into a huge hug.
"Sorry I missed your first shift." He said. "Mom didn't have a chance to tell me before it happened. I'm here now and I prepared a big dinner for you. I know you are super hungry." He said motioning for me to sit down and dig in. I smiled brightly at him and grabbed a plate.
It was the perfect ending to a magical night. I felt even more complete having all my dear ones with me on this special day. We chatted while eating, enjoying the presence of each other. Once we were finished my brother cleaned up the dishes while I walked Sam to the door.
"See you tomorrow My Love. We have a lot to talk about tomorrow. Get some rest, okay? I love you." Sam said.
"I can't wait. I will probably sleep really good tonight. I love you too." I said. I stood on my tiptoes and wrapped my arms around his neck. Placing my forehead against his I stared into his gorgeous eyes. He took the lead and leaned in slowly to place a sweet soft kiss on my lips. The feeling that simple kiss gave me awoke a need for him I knew I had but stronger. I wanted to deepen the kiss but I reluctantly pulled away. Saying goodnight, I watched him walk to his car a drive off.
I said goodnight to my parents and brother. I felt like I was floating as I walked up the stairs to my room with a huge smile on my face. Plopping onto my bed, I curled around my pillow and drifted off to sleep.
