My heart made another thud. Did I just make a stupid blunder? I just greeted my best friend as if he was nothing.
Well, how was I supposed to know who he was? No one told me anything. Mercy was supposed to inform me about everything.
Well, it wasn't my fault.
But won't that get Henry thinking? I mean that will look strange to him, right?
I look up at him, at the hard lines on his face, his exceptionally handsome look.
"Are you checking me out?" He stops suddenly, looks forward at something or someone.
I clear my throat and adjust myself, "No, I wasn't. I was looking past you."
He laughs, "Seems like Hattie has finally accepted how much handsome I am."
"Well, a little," I say.
He laughs again, " But you do admit you love me right?"
I turn to look at him again, a cold shiver ran down my spine.
I shiver uncontrollably. My hand is still in his.
