After putting away the small drone, Emma got up from the cold ground and opened the metal door of the basement to get out. Buddy, who was by her side also walked on all fours.
"We should take everything we can. Now that we know there are no survivors in the city it will be quite easy to continue moving forward.
At least we won't have to be facing a lot of enemies."
Emma nodded however she walked quite slowly as she was still afraid of what had happened.
After climbing the stairs to the first floor, she went out to the street and could see the damage that the creatures had caused in the city.
"They did a lot of damage. It shows that there were a lot of survivors in this place.
Fortunately, the tactics Richard taught you to avoid drawing attention worked well."
Emma sighed and touched her hand to the gun she had on her leg. "I don't like being with people. They all just lost whatever humanity they once had and are truly despicable beings.
I just hope that my mother can stay in good shape in Patagonia."
After those words, Emma continued walking through the destroyed streets, which had a lot of plants and herbs growing around her.
With each step she took, she could see the damage to the city's buildings in greater detail.
"All the people who lived in this city didn't even have a chance to escape when the apocalypse happened.
It is enough to see their bones in the streets and in some buildings to realize that Amatlein is not merciful with them."
Buddy, who was looking at the endless bones shook his head. "I knew what he wanted to do from the moment he was released, although we will never really know the reasons why he killed billions of people.
What do you know, the only good thing about all this is that nature is recovering the space that corresponds to it, although it is doing so by devouring the corpses of those who could not survive the first attack that the creature made."
Emma who looked at a convenience store started walking towards her. "When I was a younger girl, I remember I had the opportunity to see a zombie movie.
She thought it would be great to be able to be in a world full of those creatures so she could destroy them and be a great hero.
But now I can only think that I would rather be in that world killing zombies than be in this world where creatures lurk in darkness and cities.
They are completely immortal, and it is impossible to harm them. We can only hide, but worst of all are the human beings themselves.
Grandpa was right when he said that when society collapses, there can only be a survival instinct.
Although it cost me my grandfather's life, I understood his words, unfortunately it was too late."
Upon entering the convenience store Emma and Buddy could hear a noise of someone banging on what appeared to be a door.
"Hello, is there someone? Please help. I'm completely locked in the fridge."
Emma looked at Buddy and unhooking her holster pulled out Grandpa's gun from her as they walked slowly through the room.
"Please help. I don't know what happened a few minutes ago. I was trying to find supplies when the door closed with the tremors.
You must help me because I hate being in closed places."
Emma who was listening to the woman cry was not moved by her words, so she kept walking and ignoring the cries for help.
Together with Buddy, she checked the whole place. Once they were sure that there was no danger, the two calmed down.
"This place is empty, so it's not a trap. I think the woman was locked in that place, but what should we do with her."
Emma looked at Buddy with a smile. "We are not saviors and I am not risking our lives to save a woman I don't know.
In this place, there is no greater misfortune than her own stupidity. She was locked away by her lack of preparation. If she can survive, it will depend on her own fortune."
"I'm listening to you. Please help me, don't leave me in this place. I don't want to die in this fridge.
I promise you I have nothing to hurt you. I'm just a woman trying to survive."
Hearing this, Emma sighed and looked at the structure of the store for a moment, until she could find a small ventilation shaft.
Seeing them, she turned her head and pointed to Buddy. The little Chihuahua knew what Emma wanted to do, so with her help she got into the small ventilation shaft and moved slowly without making a sound.
When she reached a small vent inside the refrigerator, she could see that the woman had a machete in her hand and that she was not crying.
So she knew immediately that the woman was a liar, and she was definitely a bad person, going back through the vent back to Emma.
"It's a trap, however it seems that the woman was locked up, so it is certain that she will not be able to get out."
Emma, hearing this got too angry because she knew that people would always be bad in the apocalypse.
Not to mention though, she wouldn't allow that woman to stay alive, so she decided to finish her off.
Opening her backpack, she took out two anti-gas masks which she put on and, searching the convenience store she managed to find the materials she needed to make some chlorine gas.
"Grandpa wouldn't be happy about me using his knowledge to make this weapon…"
Emma through the gas mask smiled "But she is no longer alive so my safety and yours come first."
After successfully combining some cleaning chemicals and some copper, a powerful gas began to form in the glass container.
So she without thinking twice she placed the bottle in the vent and opened the lid, letting out the dangerous gas.
After this, she sealed the vent and together with Buddy; she started looking for supplies that she needed.
