"Yes. It seems that you understand" Officer Gaston replied.
"Yes of course I understand. Besides, I would have done the same. Because even I can't imagine the public outrage once they found out what had happened to officers that had been assigned to protect them and the way they died while the perpetrator was still out there on the loose…..The consequences would be unimaginable" The young man nodded his head in understanding as he continued saying.
"But what are you going to do next? You should know that you can't keep hiding their bodies for long".
"Yes, and we already have a plan for that. Don't worry about it, we will make sure to carefully handle the situation and what happens from then on" Officer Gaston responded as he tiredly breathed out in relief.
"And what about the dead bodies, did you do what I asked of you?" The young man asked.
"Yes, I did everything you asked of me. I left the crime scene untouched, the area has been sealed shut with several officers patrolling the surroundings" Officer Gaston said as he nodded his head in affirmation.
"But to be honest, I have already considered calling the morgue to tell them to secure several trusted people that will take care of the crime scene. But I didn't even think that you would arrive here in a day after I received your call"
The young man's lips formed a smile as he said "Then it's a good thing that I arrived early, or else I would have missed a lot of details. And besides, we are helping each other out, so there is no need for you to sound so apologetic and thankful".
"No. No matter what you say we are the ones gaining a lot from this. We really had no way to deal with such a situation, and so If we can find and apprehend the perpetrator of this case, then that would put many hearts at ease" Officer Gaston said with a tired smile.
"Alright" The young man merely nodded his head, not saying any other thing.
"So when are we going to arrive?"
"We are there already detective".
The police car that they were in slowly slowed down as they soon reach their destination.
They soon arrived at a checkpoint that required them to show their badge ID.
And even though they weren't obliged to do so, the inspector was currently doing everything in his power to make sure that there are no leaks on this particular case and has also kept a lot of officers here on strict parol guarding the area.
They were soon allowed to pass after their identities were verified. The cars soon started moving again until they came to a halt once more.
"We are here detective" Officer Gaston said as he opened the door and came out of the car.
"Well then, let's see what this case has in store for us" The young said as he followed suit.
"This way detective" Officer Gaston said as he gestured for the young man to follow him.
Nodding his head he responded, they both walked passed the various police cars that were used to barricade the surroundings before finally arriving at the fence gate.
"Good evening sir" A policeman who was the first to identify officer Gaston said immediately before the rest followed suit.
"How has the patrol been going?" Officer Gaston said as he nodded his head in response.
"Nothing much sir, except for a few vehicles and civilians that wanted to pass through but were ultimately stopped, we still haven't encountered any problems except for the smell growing stronger" The policeman replied.
Nodding his head in understanding, officer Gaston understood what they were trying to say.
A massacre had happened here, and it wasn't just one or two bodies, but about more than a dozen.
So it wouldn't be surprising if the horrible smell starts getting thicker if they remained here for another day or two.
And that was why he was worried when he got a call from detective Antione asking him to leave the crime scene the way it was, he was a little distressed because the more hours they leave the corpses there, the more their chances of being caught increases.
Because who knows if someone might have snuck in and gotten a glimpse of the chilling scene that they had seen.
And although one person wasn't enough to stand against the combined might of the police force, he still didn't want to take any chances, so he called the morgue in case the detective didn't show up in time.
But to his surprise, he didn't expect the detective to arrive here after a day. So now the weight in his heart had lessened a bit, but it still wasn't at ease, not until he solves this case and finds the real culprit behind it.
"Then let's start going then. The faster we round this up, the better for everyone" Antoine said as he looked at the abandoned building.
"Yes, you are right. Let's get going".
The yellow tapes were pulled up as they both walked towards the front door of the abandoned building with several other policemen following behind them.
But Antoine soon halted his steps as he noticed something strange.
"What's wrong detective?" Officer Gaston said with a frown on his face as he noticed the detective's expression.
"Don't you guys smell something strange" Antione replied.
"Smell what exactly?" Officer Gaston asked with a confused expression on his face.
"I don't know, its smelling kind of….Well, not exactly but I think that it…" But Antoine's words were interrupted as a scream sounded beside him.
"FIRE!!!!" A policeman screamed as he pointed at the second floor of the building which now had smoke coming out of its windows as small glimpses of an orange-red flame could be seen.
"QUICKLY, SOMEONE CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!!" Officer Gaston who was the first to react said.
"I am sorry detective, we won't be able to see the crime scene anymore" He added.
