Clearing his mind as he looked at the clear deep blue iris of the woman before him, Lucien said.
"Alright then. If you insist that much, then I can at least try a few delicacies before I leave. I might as well try some french cuisines while I'm still in Paris".
Charlotte chuckled as soon as she heard Lucien's words.
"Then I might as well not waste anymore of your time and immediately show you the best cuisines we have to offer" Charlotte said with a smile as she gestured for Lucien to follow her to the buffet table.
Lucien said nothing as he followed behind Charlotte, her silky red dress dragging on the floor as she stepped forward, leading Lucien towards the buffet table.
And even though Lucien wasn't moved by her beauty, he still couldn't help it as he complimented her in his heart.
After all, a man was moved by what he sees. And Charlotte was a feast worthy for even the eyes of a king.
But alas, he had seen beauties like her, also some that were far more outstanding than her.
Since, being a huntsman meant that he had to deal with sirens, witches e.t.c...
Some of them looked too ethereal that it looked as though they were sculpted to be a model of perfection.
Too perfect that they looked unreal to the human eyes.
And, if seeing the faces of such women wasn't enough to make him immune to such things, then he might as well gouge out his eye every time he sees a beautiful woman.
"So which dish would you like to try first, Mr Joseph?" Charlotte asked as she turned around with a smile to face Lucien after arriving at the buffet table.
Lucien looked at the table with a passing glance before his eyes landed back on Charlotte.
Looking at the woman who he had just met today, giving him the brightest smile that she could muster, Lucien reciprocated her actions with a thin smile on his lips saying.
"I am afraid that if I start testing all these pleasant delicacies one by one, then I might not be able to stop myself, and might even have trouble fitting through the door on my way out".
Charlotte replied with a chuckle "It seems that you are very good with your words, Mr Joseph. But don't tell me that you are now rejecting my cuisines after I have brought you all the way here?".
"I didn't say that Miss Charlotte. Instead, I meant that I will have a taste of the delicacies on one condition" Lucien replied as he shook his head.
"Oh!! And what is that?" Charlotte replied curiously as she was interested in where this conversation was going and how it was going to end.
"I will only taste them if Miss Charlotte chose the best dishes for me. Because you see I am unfamiliar with the French cuisine, and although I have heard of some renowned food one must taste immediately he sets his foot in Paris, I hope that Miss Charlotte would help me select the best dishes. After all, first times are the most memorable" Lucien responded.
"Alright, if you insist. You can sit over there at that table as I bring the best selections to your table" Charlotte said as she pointed at an empty table with two chairs near the buffet table.
"Alright. I will wait for you then" Lucien said as he walked towards the seat with a satisfied smile on his face.
Why wouldn't he be happy?
After all, in some few minutes, he would be getting two of the things that he loved the most.
A beautiful woman and delicious food. Ah! What a combo!
Lucien looked back and saw Charlotte glancing at him with a smile before she began ordering some waiters to fill up their trays with some of the delicacies on the table.
It only took a few minutes before Charlotte can be seen walking toward Lucien's table with several waiters behind her.
"I hope that I didn't make you wait for long?" she said.
"Don't worry about it. If the food that you have chosen is as good as you say they are then I consider it worth the wait" Lucien responded as he shook his head.
"Alright then" Charlotte said as she clapped her hands twice in succession.
Immediately soon after, the waiters behind her each came forward one by one to drop the food on the table.
Each of their movements was done with grace and coordination, as though they had already practised such movement a hundred times beforehand.
"Here you go, Mr Joseph. Although I would love to tell you the name of all these dishes, it still won't matter as I am sure that you won't be able to remember them" Charlotte said with a smile.
"Oh! Then you should tell me their names after I have eaten them. I am sure it won't be hard to remember the names of such delightful delicacies after that" Lucien replied as he eyed the food that was placed on his table before looking back at Charlotte.
Charlotte pulled back the chair opposite the table and sat down.
"Then maybe while doing that, you can tell me more about yourself" Charlotte said as she saw Lucien using a fork to pierce through his first dish.
"That dish is called vol en vent. Although they are a little sweet, that should be enough to turn on your taste buds" Lucien nodded his head in approval as he heard Charlotte's words.
Although he knew the reasons why Charlotte has gone out of her way to do all this, at the end of the day. He didn't honestly care.
Because no matter what she wanted, it was completely impossible for him to tell her about himself or his life as a huntsman.
Secondly, he knew that it would be a waste of time and effort if he were to search this whole building to pinpoint the exact place the event was taking place.
