Chapter 2 - Come Close, Will You?

Olivia found herself all alone in a room with a small window. She has been put in a wolf's prison. At first, the thought of escaping from her ordeal hunted her so badly. The problem, however, remains how is she going to escape? She wished she was a witch at least, she would have made some incantations and maybe set herself free from the bondage the werewolves had put her in.

'What am I doing? Am I going to sit here all day without trying to do something? Come on! Poor Olivia do something,' she told herself while standing up to peep through the small window, the only access she has to the outside world. She assessed her body to know if she can fit through the space. 'Yes I can!' she briefly wept for joy only to be reminded by another thought that her hands were still tied. 'Oh shit! My hands are still tired behind my back. What am I going to do now? Think! Think! Olivia think!' She laid down on the floor and became frustrated again. Her short-lived excitement has once again turned into sorrow. Nevertheless, she kept talking to her lonely self. 'There is nothing you can do Olivia, other than wait for your ugly fate. Life is so ugly and unfair,' she thought.

It was almost nighttime but, because she was kept in a relatively dark room, she was unaware of what time it was. She never stopped hoping for a miracle. But just the miracle which will see her out is something she cannot decide.

Lost in her thought, a voice was heard at her adjacent position. "Young lady!''

The voice was of human origin. She wondered if she was locked alone or with someone else. She had been so carried away in her thought about her problem that, she bothered not to explore her little surrounding not until now.

Olivia stood up and walked towards the source of the voice she had heard. "Hello, is anyone here?'' She couldn't see clearly who it was but, she sensed with no doubt that someone is around the corner. "Hello, who are you?''

"I should be the one in the right position to ask you that young lady,'' responded the voice from the dark corner. "If you don't mind what's your name? And can you come a bit closer so I can behold your face?''

She walked closer with caution. The voice was feminine in origin, a little relive for her. "My name is Olivia.''

"Olivia is such a wonderful name. Your name sounds sweet. Sweetie, why don't you come a little closer so I can see for myself if, your beauty matches your incredible name?''

"Why should I do that when I don't even know your name and how you ended up here? Moreover, I don't even know who you are?''

"Come closer, my dear. I'm the one you are privileged enough to meet once in your lifetime. So come closer! Are you scared? Don't be! Just take some steps further and you will get to know me better. Oops! I mean to say, we will get to know ourselves better.'' The voice was pleasing and luring as well as raising some suspicions in Olivia.

"I'm not scared of you?''

"Very well my dear. That's good to hear. Now step forward, will you?'' said the voice again.

"Why should I trust you?'' Queried Olivia.

"Because you have to. You have no choice other than to trust me. Look around you, there is no one else here except you and me. I'm the only one you can count on in this small world of ours.'' The voice paused for some seconds before resuming again. "I thought you weren't scared? Those were your words, not mine. I thought you have no atom of doubts in you my dear? All you need to do is to take one giant step closer to me.''

Instead of heeding the voice and stepping forward, Olivia tiptoed backward. "May I know your name please, at least you have known mine?"

"Oh, sorry about that. My name can only be known when we stand close looking at each other. And about your name, it's not new to me. I knew who you are immediately you were dumped in here. You are Olivia the daughter of Arnold and Tricia from the town of Odessa. Oh, I'm so sorry dear, I forgot to let you know they are both late now. You were adopted right from your childhood by Catherina the powerful witch at Odessa. At least, she became powerful at my downfall.''

Shocked by the stranger's revelation, Olivia wondered about the entity she was dealing with. "Why are you telling me all these and how the hell did you know so much about me? Who fed you all that?''

"There are lot more you will discover about yourself but only when you come closer. Perhaps, it will interest you to know how your parent died. Hahahaha….! Do you think they died of natural cause? I don't think so!''

"Who are you and what do you want?''

"I see, you are developing interest in the information I'm sharing with you right now. Why don't come a little closer so we can have a one-on-one conversation? I know why you are here Olivia. And I know exactly the purpose you were kept with me here. I know how long you will stay here before they will kill you. Oh sorry! That was not the right sentence,'' she paused briefly and resumed again. "You will be offered as a sacrifice to the moon goddess of the wolves."

Olivia's curiosity grew even more. At this point, she is highly tempted to go closer and see the bizarre fellow who has been telling her all about her miserable life. "Who are you again? Don't ever speak to me again if you can't tell me who you are.'' Her voice was echoed with anger as she spoke.

"Why can't you do one simple task and move closer to me lady? I have told you time without number, that's the only way we can get to know each other very well. By the way, did I tell you that, you are probably thinking of how you can escape from here? There is no escape from here Olivia. No matter how hard you try, you will never leave. However, the good news is, that I'm the only one who is capable of setting you free. Oh yes! Free from all your pains and misery. You will find yourself in a peaceful land after I set you free. So why don't you come and see for yourself what I'm talking about.''

"Okay, don't tell me I'm dreaming, whoever you are? Are you reading my mind too?''

"I never said the words myself, you did. Let me ask you, Olivia, don't you think it will be a genius idea if we leave here together?''

"Enough of your fantasies!" Olivia shouted at top of her voice with anger. "Show yourself or speak to me no more!'' A sudden silence engulfed the vicinity for some time before, Olivia decided to break it again. She had a sense of empathy for the unknown voice whom she thought her harsh tone had sent away. "Look, I don't know if you can hear me, but I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you. I wasn't supposed to be harsh no matter what.''

"Oh dear Olivia, I forgive you."

She didn't hesitate to utilize the little good time they were having at that moment, by asking her some useful questions. "How did my parents die?''

"I knew you are going to ask that question sooner or later.''

"Yes, especially now that I have a limited time on earth. It will be an honor to learn what killed my parent. No one has ever talked about that open to me before."

"Not even your stepmom?''

"Yeah, not even her. So would you mind?''

"I can't tell you everything from a distance. But if you insist then, I can tell you a part of it. Olivia your parents did not die out of a natural cause, they were murdered by someone very close to you. It will break your heart to find out the very woman you call your stepmother was in fact, the real killer."

"You mean Catharina killed my parents? This makes no sense at all. I know how much I have suffered under her, but I won't forget the fact that I grew up under her watch,'' Olivia doubted.

"But she killed your parents Olivia?'' Insisted the voice.

For some unknown reasons, she wanted to believe the voice nevertheless she pushed on a little further. "Why will she kill my parent and then adopt me as her daughter? Do you see why I said, this makes no sense at all?''

"Hahahaha…. Does this make no sense? Is that what you have to say, Olivia? Maybe you need to see for yourself the depth of what I'm telling you."

"How will know that?'' She asked inquisitively.

"What if Catherina had adopted you on a purpose? What if your presence in this wolf prison has a connection to your adoption?'' The voice pressed on.

"Wait! What are you talking about?"

"Come closer Olivia, and see what I'm talking about. Come to the pot of the whole truth and I will dish for you some portion of it. Come on now, come Olivia.'' The voice tried to lure her closer again. As if Olivia had been hypnotized, she obeyed her brains and her great curiosity. She began walking towards the source of the voice in the darkness. "That's right Olivia, you are doing the right thing. Come a little closer honey," continued the voice.

Just then, a hand grabbed her neck and choked her so tightly that she screamed in pain. She felt some fangs getting ready to pierce through her delicate neck. 'Is this the end of her poor life?' She thought.
