Chapter 20 - First Mission: Demons Invasion

"Well, I would like to have my personal laboratory," Fein stated with certainty.

Lucius looked at him for a second, making sure he hadn't misheard. "Wait, did you say laboratory?"

"Well, the truth is that I have a hobby of conducting research and experiments, and I'd like to have my own laboratory for my convenience," Fein replied, confirming Lucius's doubt.

"That's quite simple... Your laboratory will be ready in a week; I'll contact a professional using my connection, and you can discuss your specific preferences with him." Lucius eyes flickered as he heard Fein's request.

...

-5 hours later-

Fein was no longer in the Vladimir Family's secret library. Although the information in their regular library pales in comparison to the previous one. Even so, it was a hundred times better than the library in the cities. For one thing, all the disciplines are present. Science, Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy are all available.

Although not that advanced yet, the gap is not surprisingly large; if computers can be built in advance, the world will usher in the Information Age, making a significant leap forward, and globalization will be accelerated.

Fein decided to read the books here to see if there were any differences between the laws of this world and the ones he had known in the past. Because of the existence of Degu, there is a possibility that the laws of physics in this world will differ from his previous ones.

The result was... It was unique, but in a good way. The reason for this is that the laws here are laxer than his previous ones. Not only is it theoretically possible to build a spaceship with the passage of time, but it is also possible in practice.

Fein stayed in the mansion for seven days, and The Vladimir Family warmly entertained him; they are even pleased with his decision because it was beneficial to them. Fein devoured all the contents of the books in the library like a madman, not skipping a single one. Learning was as difficult for him as breathing and drinking because of his enhanced talent. Just like that, He absorbed all the information he could get his hands on like a sponge.

...

-Three days later-

The sun shone brightly through the window, and the sound of chicken could be heard from time to time. The morning breeze blew in all directions. Fein woke up in his medium-sized bed, he stood up, and stretched his body to relieve the soreness caused by his uncomfortable sleeping posture.

The aroma of poached eggs and hot bacon filled his nose. He dashed into the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth. After that, he hurriedly changed into his sleepwear and went to his mother's room, where the odor was coming from.

A young girl with shoulder-length hair was waiting for Fain at the door as he walked. Her face had a cheerful smile on it, and her green eyes were looking at him impatiently.

"Brother, breakfast is ready... you're always sleeping like an oil," she grumbled at him.

With a sly grin, Fein looked at her. "You just miss me, don't you, and I'm sorry our work is so hectic these days?"

"Hmph! you have to accompany me to the park next week," Fey said quickly, giving him a puppy eyes.

"All right, I'll... Stop doing that, it's cringe," Fein said helplessly.

Her sister was perplexed as she looked at him. "Ahm... What's that?"

Fein hid my face behind his hands.

'Fuck, I forgot I'm not in the Modern Age,' Fein cursed his folly.

"Never mind, let's eat; Mom is waiting," He shrugs his shoulders.

Fey pouted her cheeks and followed his brother...

...

-Ranger's Eye Base-

Fein was now in the office, and the captain is sitting in his usual spot, with a dark circle under his eyes.

"So, how was your vacation? Did you gain anything?" Gregory yawned.

"Well, I did... Now it's just a matter of time. I'm confident I'll be able to compete with Jackson in a few years," Fein said, making an enthusiastic face.

Because of his talent, he can subconsciously manipulate his body language and expression to express whatever he wants to portray. This is the result of his B-rank acting talent.

Gregory looked at him, perplexed. "What did Marquis Lucius give you to give you such confidence?"

Fein was about to respond...

When a sudden sound of hurried footsteps interrupted their conversation, and the door burst open. Kidd was panting heavily, and his face was drenched in sweat inside. "Captain, captain..."

"Calm down, speak slowly. What happened?" Gregory asked with a stern expression.

Kidd took a deep breath to calm himself down, then he looked at Fein and nodded as a greeting, then looked at Gregory again with a serious face and says. "Captain, a large group of demons with an average strength of D Rank and a leader estimated to be C Rank Invaded the neighboring country."

"The mentioned country has requested assistance from various official organizations, which is why the Headquarters personally issued a mission because we are the closest country; we need to kill them and prevent them from causing further casualties."

"Call Michael. He will lead the team on this mission," the exhausted Gregory said as he looked out the window.

"Fein, this will be your mission fighting alongside the team. You have to be careful and don't overestimate yourself," Gregory stared at him and said.

"Yes, Captain," Fein said, nodding obediently.

Fein doesn't want to draw too much attention to himself by revealing his strength so early. He only intended to reveal himself when necessary or when he has the confidence to protect himself.

"Follow me; we'll prepare what we need, and then we'll leave in an hour."

...

-A few hours later-

After they gathered the necessary items, Michael quickly assumed command and devised a strategy for dispatching the demons in the most efficient manner possible.

They boarded a personal carriage that had been specially prepared for such emergencies.

Michael gave Fein and Kidd a determined look. "We have to take down this demon quickly to prevent the Innocents from being implicated; the lives of countless people now depend on us; we must do our best not to let them down!"

"Yes, Vice Captain!" both of them shouted at the same time.

"This is a specially prepared poison that could instantly kill demons," Michael explained as he handed them a bottle that has a red liquid inside.
