-Flashback-
During that month, he learned that his group of friends, or the original owner's group of friends, had all committed suicide. They either stabbed themselves or banged their heads against a wall.
When a group of private investigators arrived at his door, He was skeptical at first. But it horrified him when he heard their story.
According to them, the incident was related to him because he was the only one who survived the group.
They looked into his previous activities, and he willingly cooperated with them. Even then, there is no result, and he wasn't a fool to reveal that he was a transmigrator.
Fein will never reveal his secret to anyone, and he will carry it with him to his grave.
They took him to their headquarters for investigation during their visit.
Fein discovered a lot of strange things around them. For example, they were leaking a faint violet mist, which vanished when he tried to sense it.
The Investigators' eyes were wide with surprise as they looked at him.
Gregory Smith, the man in charge of them, carefully examined Fein, and when he sensed his awkwardness, he simply smiled and said.
"I apologize for my behavior, but you have an affinity with degu energy."
Fein looked perplexed as to what the fuck he was implying, so he simply raised an eyebrow and looked at him, signaling him to proceed.
"No questions?" "Good. Hmmm... how to put it?"
Gregory assumed what appeared to be a contemplative posture.
The corner of his lips can't help but twitch.
'This bastard is quite pretentious,' Fein thought while keeping his face neutral.
"You see... this world is not as simple as it appears on the surface; few people are born with special abilities; some can read minds, while others are powerful enough to defeat an army."
It was his turn to be surprised; He assumed that this world was only marginally different from Earth, but now...
Fein had no idea there were superpowers in this world.
"So I guess those mists that came from your bodies are degu energy?" He asked calmly. "And from the looks of it, this Degu is some type of energy that is needed to activate those special abilities? And apparently, I have the potential to have one?"
After hearing what the boy said, the investigators' eyes widened.
But In his head, Fein can't stop himself from getting excited. He would have already burst out laughing if they weren't in here!
It was literally his dream to have a special ability, and they told him that he could possess one.
'It appears that I will have to change my plans,' Fein thought, trying not to smile.
"You're sharp," Gregory smiled.
He turned to his companions and says, "Explain it to him."
The young man with white hair and a slit in his eyes nodded.
'This guy reminds me of Ichimaru Gin from Bleach,' Fein thought inwardly.
"Yes, Degu is energy; it was the fuel required to use special abilities. It is an energy that produces power that is unique to individuals; the type of power depends on the person's personality, subconscious desire, and it can even be random, but most commonly, we are born with it."
He walked to the center and asked his captain for permission; Gregory simply nodded, implying that he was free to do whatever he wants.
The young man then raised his hand, and a violet light began to form in his body before vanishing.
He literally vanished in front of Fein's sight, and he only felt someone patting his shoulders.
He looked at it, but there was nothing there.
"Invisibility?" Fein muttered.
The white-hair teen appeared again, looking at Fein with a smile, but not a smile.
"Yes, but more specifically, my body just blends in with the surroundings. By the way, my name is Kidd," the white-hair teen explained as he walked back to the side.
"So you can refract light so that it is invisible to the naked eye?" Fein asked.
"Huh?" Kid asked, his eyes confused.
Fein was speechless because he realized that science in this world is still in its infancy. Even if there is someone here who has studied physics, the information would only spread to a few selected people.
"Nevermind" He continued.
*Cough* *cough*
Gregory then invited Fein to join his team, which turned out to be an investigators guild from this city called "The Ranger's Eye." The organization managed things related to a strange event like his and they investigated whether people who abused their abilities caused them. And there appear to be a lot of them.
"Well, give me a week to think about it; after all, this isn't a simple matter," Fein smiled.
Gregory nodded as if he understood.
This is a life-changing issue. If he decides to join, it may bring the predecessor's family in danger. But Gregory reassured him that once he joined, someone would properly manage all the information about his membership, alleviating his concerns.
Even if someone looked into it, they would not be able to link it to his family.
It was all a ruse for Fein to think about it for a week. He had already decided to join them in reality. Because this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Also, because he was already involved in this, he had no choice but to be one of them to learn the truth about the incident in which all of his or his predecessor's friends committed suicide.
Gregory informed Fein that the incident was linked to a well-known Degu criminal. and apparently, once that guy discovers that someone has survived, he will undoubtedly pursue the aforementioned individual, which is why he was already considering learning Degu and utilizing all the resources available to him through the Ranger's Eye Organization in order to become stronger and protect himself.
As for his family, he was willing to protect them if possible. But it hasn't gotten to the point where he was willing to give up his life.
After all, he had already died once, and he now valued life more than ever. And they are not his genuine family; they are only the family of his predecessor.
...
Fein trained in a Degu-rich area, and yes, he had already joined the Ranger's Eye. He was in a meditative state, trying to sense the energy. When he suddenly felt the pores on his body open and sucked the degu energy from the environment. He felt a surge of violent energy coursing through his blood vessels, nourishing the cells of his body in the process.
*Ding!*
In his head, there was a ringing sound.
'HAHAHAHAHAHA, this is not what I think it is right? 'Fein laughed, a grin emerged across his face.
