Chapter 1 - The Coffin

My eyes open, and for just a moment the world seems to stand still. I didn't know how I got here. I thought that I was supposed to be dead, but then, one memory rushed into my head. Giving even my brain a massive headache.

"Cassandra...." I spoke in a cold angery voice.

I was enclosed in what appeared to be a stone coffin. With one strong shove I sent the lid flying, making a crashing and shattering noise once it hit the floor.

I pulled my self out of the coffin and stepped on the ground. There were two more elegant stone coffins there as well. I seemed to be underground. The air was moist and there was a slight stale scent. I smiled, that scent was blood! It was a few weeks old but at least I know that those living above me were indeed vampires and that I was not forgotten of during my slumber.

As if on cue, right as I looked at the door, it opened. "I heard you awaken" a melodious voice spoke. "I sensed you coming" my enchanting voice responded. She then smiled and bowed. It had been Manny decades since we last saw each other and she was joyed that I had recovered from my injury's.

She had blondish golden hair, slim figure, hair in a bun with glasses, what she was wearing? you surely imagined it.

"Tell me, what has Cassandra done since I was put in this coffin?" I asked.

I was about to ask but she seemed to have been prepared for my question. "My Lord has slept for one hundred and twelve years since the incident. The humans fire arms have developed to be able to shoot many times without reloading and are reloaded much faster. With a little training even a normal human can become a vampire hunter, and they only get better at it with time. The chances of humans being able to kill our common vampires have more than doubled due to this. Cultivators and mages are also capable of enhancing the bullets just as they did the swords and stakes to make them more efficient against vampires so our noble's also stand less chance against them. We can't reproduce as fast as them, they have a tight hold on the weapons being used to kill us, and the pillars of our race have been infighting due to Cassandras influence. The purebloods care more about political power and influence than they do our race."

The more I listened the more angered I became. The humans that once feared us have grown in strength and number so fast that they dare hunt us. The brother of mine that could have warned me not only left me to die but sat idle as our kin was slaughtered. And Cassandra, the bitch who did this to me allowed all of this to happen!

"AAARRAHHHHAAA" I screamed to the top of my lungs, the building shook and Sarah fell to the floor covering her bleeding ears. The atmosphere turned suffocating and the air in the room became enraged, the desk and chair at the side of the room flipped. The building was started to loose it's stability right as I caughed blood mid scream. As I fell the the atmosphere started returning to normal. The shaking stoped, and Sarah started gasping for breath. I however was on my hands and knees, puking blood and struggling to grasp my heart.

Sarah called out "My lord!" she was running twords me while leaning and clutching her stomach. She grasped my shoulder and pleaded "My Lord! Please drink from me!". In the vampire community drinking from other vampires was generally looked down upon. However given the situation, replenishing on human blood would be far too slow. He bit down upon her neck and drank from her veins. She smelled of roses and her eye glasses fell off, but he paid the no head. after around 20 seconds he released her from his grip.

They both gasped at the same time. He wiped the blood from his mouth and she was on the ground shaking. He felt better but he didn't look any happier, no, he looked devistated.

"Look at us... The most noble elite of our race and the most pure and powerful pureblood bloodline holder having been brought to this."

She looked at him with eyes of sorrow and remorse. "M-my... My Leigh.."

"NO!!" He bellowed. Though this time sure to control his strength. "You don't get it... I was so powerful that I needed not fear all the blades, spells, and foes under the Moon... But that bitch Cassandra found my one weakness and used it against me.... no more... No more will I allow the light to condemn me to the darkness, I am Athenian Sanguine and I will not be ushered to death by the hands of my own incapabilities!"

Sarah on the other hand, having lost touch with the moment, thought. 'That's nice but I kinda need help here...'
