Chereads / Mafia Man's Lover / Chapter 32 - There's always a reason.

Chapter 32 - There's always a reason.

It was late in the night and everyone had

gone to bed happily. But I couldn't sleep, Prolly because I had slept the whole day and I felt too excited to sleep now.

I kept tossing and turning on my bed, Different thoughts running through my mind.

I kept wondering how Mr Steve and his team or gang of thieves managed to get the jewelry back in the Mansion before nighttime. And how my mom got bailed in no time afterwards!

I tried to wrap my head around the fact that they actually did it but failed miserably because it all seemed too fast for me.

I am very glad my mom is back, But I still find the whole theory very strange. I knew I struck a bargain with Mr Steve and I knew he was going to keep his word but I had never thought it would so fast.

The more I think about it, The more it intrigues and excites me.

I have to see Mr Steve again. There are things I need to know, I feel like there's more to what they do and I felt privileged at the moment to find out.

I know I am being insensitive right now, I should be avoiding them after all this. But I have to be selfish for a while to understand them and why they do what they do.

There has to be a reason, There's always a reason.

We all woke up very early the next morning, Mom was the first to do so even though she will not be going to work for some time now.

It's has become a habit for her now. I admire her for being so strong despite what she has been through this week.

"I have to look for another job," Mom said after breakfast. We looked up at her in surprise, She should be resting now.

Her mental health is more important than anything else now so she ought to rest.

"You know you can do that later Sarah you have to take care of yourself now." Dad told her. "But there is nothing wrong with me, I am perfectly fine. I know you are all worried about me stressing myself but I can assure you that I am ok." Mom told us all with bright smile.

I know she is strong and relentless but even a strong and relentless person needs rest too.

She finally agreed to take a week break before she sets out to look for another job.

My mom said Mrs Jones called her this morning and told her she still believes everything was planned by my mom to get half of the jewelry's worth from her.

My mom told her she doesn't want the money and she wouldn't resume back since her presence in the mansion would be uncomfortable for her.

Dad and grandma told Mom she made the right decision and applauded her selflessness.

Mrs Jones would have no choice but to pay half the jewelry's worth If it had been someone else accused but my mom refused to collect the money.

I had thought she respected and trusts my mom but I was wrong. It's just sad because Mom was really happy with that job, All this wouldn't have happened if I didn't go with her to the mansion.

And as if she knew what I was thinking, Mom held my hand from across the table and smiled warmly at me.

"You will not be making me happy if you go on blaming yourself Kira, I don't want that." She told me as she held my hand firmly.

I smiled and nodded back in reaction to her words.

"So! you wanna go buy some groceries with me?" Mom asked raising her full but rough eyebrows in the funny way she usually does it.

I nodded happily and stood up excitedly. "I wanna go too!" Drew told Mom pleadingly. "No you are not coming, You have to study now because you will be resuming to school next session. I have requested for a form from one of the schools downtown baby." Mom announced to everyone's surprise except Dad.

"Mom really!" Both me and Andy shouted in unison. "Hmm hmm," Mom said smiling and nodding at us both. I was extremely happy for my brother, We both hugged each other tightly before he went to hug my mom.

Andy didn't hesitate to go fetch and study the textbooks that our uncle had given him, He was determined to pass the entrance examination so badly.

I grabbed and wore my boots and followed my mom out of the house as we head for the nearest grocery store.

Both me and my mom were in a very good mood as we chatted happily while walking by the sidewalk down the street. The whole atmosphere was also very lively and cheerful as people moved about in smiles just like us.

It felt like the whole city was happy for us and it gave me immense relief.

We had passed through different streets and intersections before arriving at the grocery store my mom wanted to buy stuffs from.

It was a long walk but we enjoyed every bit of it. The whole city was bustling and the store we entered was not left out. People kept coming in and going out. Music playing from almost every corner of everywhere.

There was intense traffic on the road outside caused mainly by students crossing to the other side of the road. I could also see some office workers rushing about because they were late already.

Each of them trying their best not to ruin their perfectly ironed clothes as they squeezed in between students, Pupils and the road safety cops who are also trying their best to prevent the drivers whom I also assumed are late for work already from throwing a fit.

It was funny to watch, Seeing the whole city bustling with energy and hustling for livelihood.

We collected a basket each from the cashier and was about to go in further when someone called my mom's name from behind.

"Sarah!?" We heard a feminine voice call her and turned to see who it was. "Anna!!" My mom called out in surprise when she saw the person.

"Oh my gosh it is you!" Anna screamed in excitement as she and my mom hugged each other happily, I didn't know her so I just looked at the both of them giggling like high school girls.

"It's been so long! What have you been up to?" Anna asked my mom as they both held each other's hands.

"A lot of things my friend, What about you?" My mom asked back, "Same as you! A lot of things." Anna said giggling showing off her perfect white teeth.

She was about to say something else when her eyes strayed in my direction, She looked at me questioningly and back at my mom. My mom realized that she hadn't introduced me and did so immediately.

"Anna, This is my first born daughter Akira, Akira meet aunt Anna my best friend from high school, We had lost contact as soon as we graduated when she went to study further in England." My mom explained to me and I greeted aunt Anna with a wide smile.

"Oh she looks so much like you! Very beautiful and with a pretty name too!" Aunt Anna complimented me and it made me somewhat embarrassed.

"Thanks ma'am," I said unable to hide my embarrassment, She sure knows how to flatter someone.

"You've grown lean!" She said looking worriedly at my mom's stature from head to toe. "And you've grown fat," My mom said also inspecting her.

Judging by the way she talks, Looks and dresses I guess she must be very rich or she comes from a rich family or still, Married a rich man. She oozes wealth.

"Did you come here for a visit?" Mom asked her. "No me and my husband got an apartment in Brooklyn, Close to the place I work at so that's where I am staying what about you?" She asked.

"We don't live far from here," My mom answered. I was getting bored watching as they started reminiscing on old times so I told my mom I was going to go round the store.

She gave me her permission so I went ahead leaving them to their conversation.

I started walking round the store and at the same time peeping over to where my mom was to ensure she was still there.

I finally got tired seeing that their convo wasn't going end anytime soon, I decided to go sit down. But something caught my attention before I could go.

I saw some people dancing in funny costumes and making people laugh, It was fun to watch. I saw some of them doing some sort of magic trick so I was thrilled to see their tricks.

People kept giving them money and I couldn't help but marvel at how creative they are.

"It's all fake," I heard someone say behind me and when I turned to see who it was, It was someone I wasn't even expecting to see.

"Mr Steve!?" I said in surprise.
