Chereads / The Only Good Orc is a Half-Orc / Chapter 112 - The Trap - Part 3

Chapter 112 - The Trap - Part 3

The door had almost given way, but before she pushed it beyond her limits, it was prudent for all of them to get ready for what was to come.

The door had no window, so they couldn't see who was out there, but there was bound to be a portion of the mob guarding the door in some way.

So, before pushing it open, she turned to the girls.

"Okay, is everyone…"

Only to find them all naked.

"What?"

Blood rushed to a specific area, as she took in the sight of all her companions in their birthday suits. But as soon as she blinked…they were back to being fully clothed.

"What's wrong Olivia?"

Olivia was just silent. She wasn't sure about what she could say. It was so quick, but it was enough time for her to get a good look at all of them and well…she couldn't put it into words.

Not that she would just tell the girls she had just envisioned them all naked, as that may not have gone down well. For some it might, but not so much for the two additions who probably still were not fully comfortable with her.

So all she could do was say.

"Nothing…It's nothing."

All the while pushing back the thoughts that were telling her to make it happen for real.

When she got herself under control, it didn't take long to conclude that the Orc and Goblin side of her was rearing its head. It was slowly doing so, sure. But escalating. Who knew how long it would be before it got worse and she ended up just doing what her thoughts were telling her?

She needed to figure out how to fix this…but that would have to come once they were out of this place.

"Is everyone ready? We may have to fight our way out of here."

At that, the girls all took out their weapons. Lyrika her bow, with Felixia across her chest. Philly her slingshot with her bag at her side. Ameril had a dagger, but she was something of a noncombatant really not having had any experience with combat.

Of the two additions to the team, Kathleen had one of the weapons that they had found, ready and waiting to head out. Beatrix had resided herself to stand by Ameril, not knowing how to fight.

Olivia took out her Morning Star and positioned herself by the door. The loot from the manor as well as the evidence of the new chief's plans had been bundled up and was being held by Beatrix and Ameril. All that was left was for them to make their exit and get out of this place.

They were outnumbered, and as stated before, even an amateur can do damage with a weapon. All it took was a lucky hit and any one of them could end up dead. If they could get out of this without a fight, that would be ideal, as it didn't really matter whether the current chief here died or not. The new chief was on his way and they couldn't change that.

But if they end up in a fight…then they will fight their way out of here.

"Ready?"

All the girls nodded their heads. Well, all aside from Beatrix who did it only slightly.

"Okay."

*Smash*

Bursting through the door, Olivia looked up to see several members of the village standing a good distance away from them. She couldn't see the chief and his guards, so he must still be around the front of the building.

The villagers all held farming tools, aside from a couple that had swords and daggers.

They all jumped as she made her exit, and upon seeing that, it gave Olivia an idea.

The girls followed her, and stood at the ready, all the while Olivia made her way forward, doing so with a rather imposing walk as she stared at the villagers.

Then, the next thing they heard was a horrible sound, midway between a shout and a deep roar that tore through their souls.

Olivia stood there and bellowed a horrible shout at the villagers. It was throaty and almost sounded as deep as a lion roaring.

The girls behind her all jumped when they heard her, and just froze on the spot not knowing what to do or what she was doing. But, Olivia's plan bore fruit, as once she finished her bellows, one of the villagers collapsed, fainting out of fear.

If that wasn't enough, two more dropped their weapons and ran for the hills.

"What are you doing, get back here."

"That's an Orc. I ain't going anywhere near that monster." One of the fleeing villagers shouted to the few that remained.

Of the seven that had stood their ground, a now manageable four remained. Where seeing that they had lost the advantage, and a little frenzied by everything that had happened in a matter of seconds, they looked at each other, and then just charged, shouting as they did.

It was like they had lost their minds. Olivia's intimidating roar may have worked too well.

As they moved, Olivia readied herself and headed forward. Behind her, Lyrika and Philly were already on the case firing shots at the villagers.

The second of Lyrika's arrows lodged itself in one of the men's legs, causing him to trip and collapse on the ground.

For Philly, her shots were making their mark, doing some good damage to one of the other villagers. She opted to use just stones for these small numbers, not wanting to waste her alchemical vials, where the first few hit him on his chest which didn't do much in the way of stopping him, but from the grimace on his face, it was clear to see they hurt. The next hit him on the shoulder, which caused him to stumble, dropping his sickle in the process. She then continued to pelt him with stones as he scrambled around dirt to pick up his weapon, until a lucky shot hit him right in the nogging, taking him out.

Lyrika moved to fire at the next closest man, who was on his way to take down Olivia. She missed one, but her second got him in the arm. Unfortunately, it was not the one holding his sword.

By this point, voices could be heard from the other side of the manor, where it was clear that the fighting and Olivia's shout had alerted the rest of the village that they were free. It would not be long before they turned up.

Olivia moved to engage the two remaining villagers. Philly and Lyrika moved to help Kathleen, Beatrix and Ameril, and keep them safe for when the rest of the village came around, heading towards a few of the houses nearby.

Olivia, as she got closer to the men, immediately brought her Morning Star to her side and came in for a massive swing to start the fight off. Being just a couple of farmers, they were not used to fighting, and really, when the swing hit, Olivia felt a little bad when she saw them fly and fall to the floor crying in agony. She was sure she probably broke their arms as well.

She only felt a little bad mind you. They were still attacking her and the girls.

All the villagers on this side of the house were down for the count, so Olivia headed off after the rest of the girls who had made their way into the mess of houses in this place. As she did, to her right she could see the rest of the villagers. And there were a lot of them.

There were a dozen and a half maybe. She didn't have time to fully count them. But what made it a problem was that the two guards were in the mix as well, and they probably knew how to fight. Maybe even better than the bandits she had fought before.

Passing by the houses, she made it to the girls who all had their weapons trained and ready to go at a moment's notice.

"Anyone hurt?"

All the girls shook their heads which was a relief.

"You can run, but you can not hide. This is my village and you will die just like a monster should."

The voice of the chief rang out, loud enough for them all to hear, but again he was nowhere near them. The only conclusion was he was using something to project his voice. But figuring out that would come later. For now, they had to get out of here.

They weaved in amongst the houses, and as they did, villagers cropped up out of nowhere.

The first, turned the corner as they were about to as well. It was a surprise to all of them, but before the villager could raise her knife, Kathleen with an abundance of fury charged into her and knocked her down.

Once on the floor, she quickly raised her own blade and slammed it down into the woman's side. It didn't kill her, but it was enough to make her drop her weapon and pass out from the shock of it all.

Before she could pull her weapon out from the girl, two more civilians that had been trailing behind, saw all this happen and charged at her. Lyrika was able to quickly get a shot off, hitting one of the men in his shoulder and throwing him off kilter making him trip.

For the other man, Olivia quickly moved forward and got in front of Kathleen, swinging her Morning Star in an arc upwards.

The man a little more dexterous than the others, ended up dodging backwards, but tripped as he did, falling to the ground.

Taking a step forward, Olivia stood before him casting quite the imposing figure. The man looked up, and saw the monster before him, and all he could do was cower and drop his hoe.

"Please, please don't kill me."

Before Olivia could rebut about how he had no qualms about trying to kill Kathleen, a rock hit her on the chest.

Well, she only realised it was a rock when she saw it on the ground. If anything it felt like someone threw a grape at her.

Looking over, she saw the man from before on his knees, staring at her, with his arms out showing her had just thrown it.

Not that he stayed that way for much longer as Philly had already taken aim and fired her own rock at the man, hitting his side and then head, knocking him down.

Olivia turned back to the man she had taken down but found no one, the man having fled while she was distracted. Lyrika, was busy covering their rear in case anyone showed up that she hadn't noticed him leave either.

"Damn."

Voices could suddenly be heard behind them, several voices at that. Where they were standing was not the best place to be fighting several people, given that it had now grown more crowded because of two bodies on the floor, so Olivia called for them to keep moving.

This fight was far from over, and there were still many more people to go through.

If only there was some way to easily take them down.
