Chapter 21 - The Boy who was overthinking things Chapter 20

32 days.

The amount of time needed for the boy to fully grasp the strength of what wind truly was, although it wasn't as strong as what Emur could conjure, this feat made by the boy was a phenomenal moment. Emur, without question knew that this child would one day become just like him. A king of the Winds.

He thought that with only a few years of training, the boy can rival him and with a few years more, he can without a doubt surpass him. And this didn't bother Emur, no. The fact that his student can surpass him was a sign that meant his teachings will be lead by a boy who will forever be stronger than he was…his legacy will be build by the boy he taught for only 32 Days.

He was ready to give him the Mark of Acknowledgement. The Holy Wind mark.

As Arthur stood in front of his mentor, ready to receive the mark of the Holy Wind. Emurteus looks to the boy and smiles at the efforts the boy made to achieve this mark.

With it, he raised his claws at the boy, recited his incantations and a small speck of wind flew by…a wind not like any other. A wind that was blessed by the Gods…it breezed by Arthur's skin, healing every injury made through his training. As it did, the mark formed on his right hand.

It glowed its Greenish light and soon settled to form a symbol of a feather and a crown.

"...Whoa." Arthur's reaction to this event made his eyes open wide. Amazed at how powerful he felt from receiving this.

"You have finally achieved it. Without a doubt you are my best candidate."

"Thank you Emur…"

And with it, the Hero's Gate appeared behind him. A sign that everything was finish…that it was time to go home.

Emur understood this and gestured the boy to go, but Arthur without warning ran up to the Griffin and gave him a hug…

"I'll make you proud."

"I know you will."

And so he walked away. As soon as he got to the front of the gate, he turned back to see the Griffin…wondering if they can see each other again sometime.

The Griffin looked to the boy with his prideful look and Arthur knew that they would…some day…maybe years later…but without a doubt they will see each other again.

It wasn't a promise. But he guaranteed they would.

And so he went through, he checked his phone and saw the time…

A day has passed and right now, it was midnight. He found himself in the same place he entered back then at the start.

He looked to his right palm and saw nothing but a layer of skin, but as he applied mana to his right hand, the mark glowed. It was convenient for things to be this way since if his friends saw this, they might be curious to what it was and it would be problematic to explain it to them.

A day has passed and he was smiling as he went walking back to home. Confident and strong, this character was now ready to face any challenge that would go his way.

***HAMIL'S POV

"Sigh…I'm finally back." As I went pass the gate, what greeted me on the other side was a bench and street light that was turned on in the middle of the night...no one was waiting for me but the silence and realization that I was still new to this world. It was a bit depressing but knowing how this world was constructed, I was ease myself a bit by thinking of my future activities to do.

At the moment I did came back, I checked through my Character profile to see the achievement I made since the last time I checked. Despite the time I had with the Four Rulers, I forgot to check my profile because of how bewildering that moment was…to a point that I forgot to check my progress with the Arduous Ruler.

[UPDATE!!]

I changed so much because of this event and seeing my progress made me proud of myself.

Looking through my profile, I was surprised to see the my strength factor had an additional 10 points added. It reminded me of how heavy the shield of the Arduous Ruler was…to a point that it gave my this much profit from lifting it only once.

Seeing the progress of my challenge being all checked out, I made myself smile uncontrollably. I was giddy because of this and seeing my time spent on the gate also made me

"697 days….that's nearly two years...wait, there's an Update?"

Below the timer of my system was a choice of an Update…and seeing it enticed my to do what any curious person would.

With how the system usually does nothing but keep track of my progress, I couldn't see anything about it being a scary thing to press. So I did.

As it finished updating, It removed some descriptions of the of my finished challenges and what replaced it was my rewards towards it, calling it SKILL ARTS. And also it removed the 697 day timer.

To make sure nothing changed about me, I looked around my body, checking if anything change for the 2 years spent…but nothing was different. My height, the length of my hair or even my finger nails… nothing was different. I was quite bummed out that I didn't receive anything else like a reward from what those novels would write about in their isekai genre's

After all of this, I tried checking what the day was since the passage of time was different from the hero's gate but realized that I didn't a phone with me.

"Okay…so 697 days, if I were to convert that to the time moving here means that…23 days…23 days has passed. It hasn't been a whole month since then…The Terrorist attack will happen on the day of the Fester Festival, where the Third Prince will come to visit this Town, which is on July 10, 2045. I left on the Gate on June 8 that day….which means that today is July 1, 2045." I said as I mumbled to my self.

I didn't have a phone still…so I had to do the converging of the numbers in my head…it was hassle but I manage to do it.

"9 days from now, it'll happen. So before that I need to prepare myself."

I've thought of it since I was in the Dark Domain of the Intrepid Ruler's challenge. The fact that my motivation to get through all of this hardship was because of a terrorist attack, made me think of the specific parts of the Terrorist attack. Glimpse of information was slowly building in my head back then…and now that information was going in to play.

The Fester terrorist attack arc was going to happen at the central plaza of the town on July 10, 2045. Their main target was the Prince and most of the Citizens. Wallowing up to 10,000 deaths. Their location of the bombs describe in the novel was written on one of the Key locations of the Town.

The Fountain, The Plaza, a Hot-dog stand in one of the vendors and a single walking suicide bomber who wears a red hood with a bag where one bomb is planted.

With the bombs that was going to be planted by four Groups, with each group containing four people. People who were described in the novel as an 'outcast of society'. and these outcast were the Terrorist group known as "The Impostors."

Before the Festival was going to happen, the novel had a specific chapter where one place was initiated a meet up for one of the groups.

In a karaoke bar in Fester Town. It was the location where the one of the bombs was being assembled in one of the groups. It took place five days before the event would happen. This bomb was the fourth and last bomb to be assembled, it's reason being that it wasn't made in the base was because of convenience.

The Base of the Impostors was written in only descriptions of an abandoned warehouse, it wasn't enough for me to actually figure out its specific location since I'm new to this world so it was going to be a waste of time looking for the base at the start. My only chance of stopping them would be to first stop the fourth bomb from being assembled and gain information of their base from one of the members of that Group, maybe by threatening them.

So with that in place, I needed to ready my equipment, with it I needed to visit a blacksmith and to visit a blacksmith, I needed money…to get money…was a question I still ponder till today…

"Hmm, maybe an only fans…no fuck no. Hmm seeing that the only good quality I have right now is muscle power…its either a body builder competition or a Dungeon Hunter."

My mind was a bit high from processing all the information I knew at the terrorist so…my head wasn't at the right place. In other words, I was a complete moron at some points of time. Or maybe having to say these jokes relieves me of the stress of handling all of this known information.

But back to being a Dungeon hunter…its description is literally in the title…I've read a lot of Manhwa's in my time to get a gist of what this was about.

It starts with a Gate.

A Gate. Unlike the Hero's Gate where it's impossibly rare to find one except for being chosen by the Gate itself, the Gate I was talking about was the Gate that was manage by humans… a Gate that produces regular monster and is being stabilize by the Guilds assigned for it…like the Hunter's association where they handled most of the dungeons. It was the fastest way I could gain money off of because of it's materials like Monster cores and rare Items, but to go inside a Gate, I needed to get myself measured and tested by the association itself. To do that was an easy and simple task but my power level, it was stronger than normal beginner hunters.

I knew that and it wasn't rare for most people to be stronger than the norm at the beginning of their test but if the association gets hold of my info, then news of a new and strong hunter will certainly be in the eyes of important people…especially since my name was registered in the Royal Academy. If my information is known by the Royal Academy that I was strong, all eyes would be on me. …and people involve in the academy like the Nobles are nosy people who would only bring trouble to me.

I not trying to brag or anything but I had plans when I was about to enter in this academy…super cool plans that involve me being a fucking eminence in the fucking shadows…something like that…I've read the manga, I know I'm being cringe!

But being inside the Gate was fastest way for me to gain money.

"Haaaaaaa…money…why does everything have to be involved with money."

Right as I finished complaining about my financial issues, I felt something dropping from the sky.

"!…rain."

And just like how my stats represented me…my luck factor was completely and utterly trash.

"I better going home…wait, no buses what about a taxi?"

And so I made my way back home…still not sure if I was going to be a registered hunter or not but it was one of my choices…that and maybe selling my liver.

I stood in front of the bus stop, hoping that a taxi would drive by. I waited…and waited until an hour has passed and realized that no taxi was going to pass in this place because it was commonsense for people not to come to an amusement park at midnight..

"I'm being an idiot today for some reason."

"What if I just walk back home…it's only an hour if I jog in this pouring rain…but if I book it..maybe just under 10 minutes….yeah I'm running back."

And so the decision was made.

A boy who decided to run back home…even though he didn't knew the way back to his home since it's been nearly two years of him experiencing a Gate and the utmost memory and confidence he had for finding his way back home made no sense whatsoever.

***10 minutes ago in a bakery somewhere in Fester town.

A 34 year old married man was preparing a fresh batch of dough for the mornings set of bread…he was massaging those dough like a masseur would to his elder customer…bold and stretchy…as he was doing so, a slight breeze suddenly ran up to his skin, making all of his hairs stand up, he wasn't sure what it was but he knew it was an ominous feeling…like a nightmare.

But soon after the feeling went to pass and he went back to preparing his dough, not long after he heard a scream from upstairs.

"Kyaaa!!" a girl's scream was heard.

"!!" he instantly grabbed a knife by the table and Immediately ran up the stairs and went straight to the girl's room.

"What's wrong!?" shouted the man as he pushed the door wide open and pointing the knife upfront.

He saw the girl dripping in sweat and her face pale as ever. he decided to put down the knife and walk up to her.

"Dad…I had it again." said the girl to the man who was known to be her father.

"What happened?"

"It was the dream again…I was in that place again. in a hot desert and the pillars this time and in front of me was a man with a sword…he was just looking at me and every time I look back…it was scary."

"…don't worry about it. It's just a bad dream."

"But I don't get it. This happens every month but I never get used to it…"

"it's okay…remember what the doctor said, if ever this dream ever happens and you have a hard time sleeping, it best to drink your medicine."

"...Okay, I will."

"Okay, I'm gonna go down stairs and get you a glass of water now."

"Thanks dad."

"Okay…sit tight Iris."

And so, the now worried father made his way down stairs and filled a glass cup of water for his baby girl…but as he was doing so…he brought out his knife and looked himself at its reflection.

"It's weird, we both felt it at the same time…it must've been a coincidence."

As he finish filling up the glass water, he went back to his daughter and gave her the water.

To ease the worry of the daughter, she tried rubbing her back with his hand for assurance.

"..." As he made touches her daughter's back, he felt the cold sweat dripping down on her back.

Worried, he tried talking to her again.

"Is there something else that you saw?"

"...I don't-…wait… a brand new pillar was there…it was something I've never seen before"

"...I see. Okay, you drink your medicine and go to sleep now…we have a busy day tomorrow. Also I'll be leaving the house for a bit tonight, tell your mother this."

"..Where are you going?"

"I'm just going to visit your uncle by the neighborhood."

"Okay…I'll tell mom." She say's.

"Good girl." He rustles her hair and says goodbye as went his way down the stairs. But as turns around, she saw it...placed behind the back of his father's neck was a birthmark. A star.

The reason why every month she and her family was always having nightmares. But she didn't know it...she only thought of it as a birthmark and nothing else.

So the night passes, everything wasn't just like any other night and the Baker was going to visit his brother at this very same night.

he wore a gray coat with a suitcase on his hands and nothing else.

"Oh my god...Is this really happening?" The baker's voice was nothing but anxiousness being spilled...his hand shakes at the very thought of it...but his face was not worry nor fear...what appeared before the man's expression was thrill.
