~CASSELBA'S POV
THE ELECTROCUTION ROD WAVES THROUGH the air, swinging in a slow arc as I regard her.
"Well then, Tyesha." I shift on my feet. "What's it gonna be?"
She remains silent and I shift some more. However, I detect a lowered gleam in her eyes. The blue pools fired up in wrath are now dimmed to a semblance of calm. Also, I detect the unmistakable scent of fear slipping into the air.
The poor woman was afraid.
A good thing, considering her history as a notorious survivor of various torture techniques. Even I know she isn't bluffing about how many past bouts of such similar event she had to endure at the hands of would-be torturers.
But I was different, and today, she was finally on the right side of the interrogation chamber. The side she was meant to be all along.
One step more brings me closer to her and I stand with eyes squarely rooted to hers.
