... 15th of November 2034 ...
Dropping the razor in the running sink where hair and disintegrating shaving cream was being swept away by the relentless water unleashed by the tap, the razor would clink occasionally directed by the water towards the small drain where the trimmer attempted to follow but it was stuck on an immovable obstacle. A man, similar in appearance would look up towards a small mirror on the wall in front of the sink revealing it was the Jackal police officer. A smile gleamed on his clean and nicely shaven face just enough to get the fur down to a minimum and not overgrown, a voice rung out from outside the bathroom in a loving and appreciative manner
"You almost done in there hun? I need some dinner plans ASAP hun, Starvin' out here."
With a light chuckle under his breath he would lift the razor from the sink and turn the water off leaving a clean sink free of the hair and shaving product, drying it off and leaving it to the side. "Ehh-Yup, just finishing up in here I'll be right out"
Still dressed in his mannerly police uniform he would turn towards the door and exit, The light would turn off behind him shortly after his exit, it appeared to be a motion sensor triggered light. His home was a small bungalow; it was very clean and presentable as well as lit up with modern lamps and ceiling lights for the kitchen just in view of the comfortable living room with a crackling electric fire, really giving off a cheerful and comforting aesthetic. Still rocking a happy expression he would approach his wife from behind while she stood in the kitchen looking over a few leaflets
"Boo" Playfully stated Jake while he wrapped his arms around her caringly, resting his head along her shoulder and gazing down along the pamphlets she was analysing "Sooo.. What's the plan here? I figured you'd be doing more cooking than reading" He would state jokingly. "Hmm.. Is that all I am to you is a cook in this household, Jake? You shaved your beard again? You know you look better with it right?"
The woman was a Jackal just like Jake, beautifully equipped with a lighter fur tone of white with a shade of grey as the fur travelled up along her snout, Dressed in an adoring dark green that went with her green eyes. "No-no, weeell maybe occasionally but you know I can always try cooking. Less work for you and also I get to pick what we're eating" He would act hurt, jokingly moving his hand up to caress his chin and gave her a playful frown before smiling reassuringly.
Scoffing, she would disapprovingly shake her head and look back "Ohh right! And let you either feed us burned food or things that will leave us both fat with god knows how many calories you'd have it packed with. I'm the chef of this household, hun." She'd end her sentence by chuckling happily in the moment, teasing him about an embarrassing past event he endured "Leave it to the professionals."
Sighing happily he would close his eyes "Oh my god Christie, you need to quit holding me for that. It was a slip-up. I didn't mean to burn the hell out of the food, I think I just added too much seasoning to that barbeque, didn't completely ruin it did I? the boys were able to stomach it."
Chuckling she would wiggle out of his cuddling grasp and turn to face him "Either way, Still made for some good memories right?" Finishing her sentence she would leave a small kiss on his cheek and cut to another topic "Okay! enough talking on, I was thinking some Take-Away? for tonight we got to celebrate the Friday night some way or the other."
"Hmmmh, I think some pizza would hit the spot right now, so why not huh?" Responding he would snap his attention elsewhere; walking away over towards the living room and planting himself lazily along the sofa with a relaxed sigh and picking up the remote, Flicking back and fourth through numerous and pointless programs featured on the television. Much to his dismay the news channel would eventually arrive and flashed onto the screen, displaying events of what happened that night to him and triggering his inner stress that he had hid away from his wife to keep them both in a positive light.
"Vulgar news for tonight from the last place you'd expect this to happen, where girls and boys alike love to party and get their drink on. Stardown City has been met with a grizzly event tonight involving gang violence and unfortunately a young boy was found murdered in cold blood at the scene, police are not disclosing any information to the identity of the boy publicly but it is believed he was affiliated with the recent gang violence going on in numerous locations. The murderer in particular is not identified but many leads seem to be going towards that of Jaklo-"
The Television would flash to black showcasing a black screen that projected the saddened image of the officers face like a dark mirrored reflection as he peered down at the floor leaning forward. Letting out a long sigh he'd hold his head in his hands as his wife approached from behind offering comfort to the troubled peacekeeper.
"Gonna assume you're on that case huh? Never expected crime to be going own at Stardown, Normally it's just drunks, brawls and those gangs but a murder is unexpected. The gangs always seemed to be so passive down there. They don't necessarily shit where they sleep, pardon my language. Always going to some other town to cause trouble." Christie added, appearing knowledgeful on the state of the neon 80's esque city displayed. The once humble police officer would look up and nod reassuring her he was fine, standing from the couch he'd hug her, giving his response from here "I know, I- it just.. The role of a police officer is reassuring knowing I can at least stop trouble from breaking out. This kid was still young, roped into this violence at that age he barely had any say in it, It breaks me inside. I wasn't able to save him at all."
Breaking down under the stress piling on his brain, the guilt for something he wasn't responsible for was heavy on his moral mind "I even, talked to the boy's mother tonight. I was told to deliver the news and seeing a woman break like that, it isn't easy to watch at all. My partner and I barely had our composure intact. I just-- I kept seeing your face.. If that was our child and he was killed, I saw your face when she broke down.. It hurt me, Christie. This job is rough and I'm doing it for you I hope you know this--"
Before he could completely spill out onto the floor his wife would reassuringly pat him on the back and smiled positively without a worry in the world while understanding his grief.
"Hun, I know it isn't easy but you're doing the right thing by leading this job. Your concern for this boy hell, your concern for his parents is astonishing. Your motivation is to protect and to me--"
Pulling back she'd stare him in the eyes and comfortingly gaze over his face that was now wracked with sorrow "To me, You're one of the best damn boys on the force for sure."
Embracing the happy moment Jake would feel his hurtful regrets and worries wash away temporarily as bliss replaced it. Smiling back at his loving wife and leaning into a short tender kiss with her, feeling thankful and gleeful that he had someone in his life to steer him out of the encumbering fog of guilt. "Thank you, sometimes heh.. it's silly but I would often wool-gather on the thought of how I would be if I never had you in my life. You're always pulling me in the right direction you know that? That's why I love you Christie" He states wholeheartedly in a loving and sentimental tone. She follows this tone giddily and nods, tightening the hug. "I wonder the same myself.. Quite often Jake, You're one of a kind.." Suddenly pulling back she would stare up into his eyes and flash a toothy grin at her husband. "Now enough depressing business talk. It's really depressing the living shit out of me-- pardon my language-- Pizza was the plan right?"
Raising the phone she would smile shaking it lightly in the air as to tease. Jake would laugh and nod, responding back in a much more chipper tone followed by a laugh "You cheer me up in mysterious ways but I appreciate it."
The joyful moment would end, seeming almost like a memory now as darkness now ensued, it felt more and more like a distant memory each second as it swept away faster than tide washing a shell away on the beach. In the dark abyss like area that was beyond anyone's comprehension including Jakes, a figure would be illuminated by a spotlight, its bright white light would project from the topless ceiling of darkness above, the source of the light is nowhere to be observed.
Mannerly sat in a chair at a table that was made from metal there was a dark figure or presence stationed there staring over at Jake as he stood in the void with him, on the opposite end of the table there was another chair not occupied by anyone else. Jake would sit at the chair and stare this individual who was cloaked in nothing but darkness, only subtle facial features could be made out from the suffocating darkness of the void around them, his black gloved hands laid neatly on the desk in front of them that was scattered with miscellaneous items like a sand timer and a small toy car opposite it.
"Good Evening Jake, I believe we have met before have we not?" The voice was soft and orderly in an enthusiastic and cheerful tone despite the scenario that revolved the two. Jake would digress and shake his head before giving his reply "I don't recognise you, I can't even make out your face."
The unknown entity of sorts that sat in front of him would take a deep inhale in before speaking again almost coming off in a humanly form as it eerily tried to muster up the correct words to speak.
"Correct, You are nearing the contrary of why you have been placed at my analysis and I have nothing but a warning to present to you. Out of the kindness of my heart and the fate of the world I present to you not only a warning, but an opportunity to save everyone before it is too late." Before he could utter another word with his soft-spoken tone he would reach over placing the sand timer up side down. The grains of sand would slowly droop through the tiny opening filling the empty space that now laid before it.
"I believe this is demonstration enough Jake, Your time is running out and this timer should reinforce that message within your head. The road for you ahead is dark my friend, very dark and you're unknowingly choosing this path despite your efforts of benefiting a civilised society and restoring hope within the hearts of the victims of crime, your efforts will soon prove fruitless. But with every negative comes a positive, you still have hope. That is your positive, Jake. Many of us don't have anymore hope, as of right now you're our Messiah."
Jake would stare the shadow cloaked man down without an emotion wracking his face fully displaying his inner confidence against the unknown that has presented itself "I feel it too like a storm is brewing somewhere and I have lulled myself into a false sense of security haven't I? I'm not going to give up, whatever the consequences may be I will go knowing I did everything I could to restore dignity to this world. To protect my wife, to protect the innocent-- and..-" He couldn't find the correct words to say.
The light would flash off completely, Nothing was visible except for the glowing red eyes of the other that sat in the void across from the lawman "I think you're in over your fucking head, you ever stop to think about that? How about the fact that you're heading into a ditch, a nice dirt grave where the worms and maggots will feed on your corpse, they're already going to feed on you.. Maybe not the worms or the maggots but the people, the people you care about you fucking fraud. You're hurting those around you and you are too stubborn to realise this, you have a screw loose don't you? You think you're gonna stop those animals out there, huh? No. You're their encouragement Jake, you're the risk and they are getting the reward. Some people are in this cruel game of crime for the fun of it, by suffocating them from doing what they want to do they will only cause them to lash out like a cornered tiger. You... are hopeless against this perpetual fight of a shit-show that is cruelty and criminality. Mrs Jackson lost her boy and you gave her false hope tonight. You're never gonna find his killer. And if you do find his killer, god help you. God Help Us All if you find who killed Mrs Jackson's son."
The sudden shift in personality would startle Jake, this new being that seemed to have manifested itself in the hollow vessel that spoke to him was judgemental and inappropriate rather than the calculated and calm giver of advice that had now snapped back to the table as the lights come on again, normality again washed over the scene.
"But that is why we need you to find the killer. God help us if you choose the wrong choice, kill him when you find him. Shoot him on the spot, it's our only hope." Reaching the black gloved hand over the sand timer would be flipped, more time would be provided until the grains of sand finally empty out of the capsule it was stored in "You will get out of this alive. Currently you're on a one way trip to misery" The toy car would suddenly start up and run straight off the table into the darkness
"You'll plummet into the darkness where you'll stay, the indefinite descent into insanity. You-"
An alarm would rock the quiet and dark room, an exhausted hand would reach over and tap it clumsily a few times before the room would ensue in silence. The officer dressed in his underwear and a white coloured vest would sit up with a grunt, rubbing his head as the dream he just experienced would slowly relapse from his memories and become more and more forgotten by the second. The alarm would ring out again which again startled him, looking over towards it he realised it was nothing more than a phone call he had been rejecting in his slumbering state. A clock on the bedside table-top would idly tick near the vibrating phone as he picked it up and answered it holding it to his ear and speaking in a raspy greeting "Yeah?"
The caller would reply, now apparent it was his partner from earlier "Listen man, gonna sound crazy sorry to wake ya but the suspect just handed himself into custody; he's a real weirdo, we got him in the interrogation room right now awaiting someone to squeeze the answers out of him. Whadya say you wanna take this one with me? We can squash this sucker like a bug buddy!" His enthusiastic partner would giggle excitedly finishing sentence, much opposite to his tired friend who let out a positive hum in approval before sitting up and staring back at his resting wife peacefully in bed "I'll be down to the station in a moment, let me get dressed."
A beep would echo through the room as he hung up the smartphone giving the final verdict on what he would be doing, the clock would continue ticking in the background as the grains of sand in the capsule of time would deplete by every second that edged by, fixated on this clock he would narrow his eyes, like a burning memory from his dream was trying to force him to remember something. But to no avail, he shrugged and exited the room. Opening the door he'd stare back at his wife for a moment and smiled at her.
"Have a good rest honey.. I love you"
The door would close quietly and a creeping light that was turned on outside the dark bedroom would peer under the door as the policeman got dressed to do his duty on the road of life that would take him either to a dead end or to prosperity. Jake knew this thought well, he was just remaining humble to not let his mind trouble him and hinder his determination to leave the world in a better state than when he entered it.
The sound of gentle ticking filled the quiet room with gentle echoes indicating each oncoming second that passed on by. Seated in the middle of a bright white room with nothing more than an LED ceiling light to illuminate it the figure seated at the cold metal table implanted into the white room was handcuffed. Silently staring down at the table in front of him in an eccentric appearance. Sat atop his head was a black top hat fitted with a red band around the pivot that partially covered the top half of his face with a looming shadow, It was clear now this man was silently sitting in an intimidation room awaiting questioning.
On his left there was a window facing in that from his point of view looked like an ordinary mirror, projecting his eerie reflection as the suited man sat silently. Gazing over at his slouched self in his own reflection he would catch the glimpse of the smug expression his face that was wiped clean entirely as the door squeaked open to the claustrophobic questioning room. In his company now were two policemen that sat opposite him, the white furred husky would cross his arms letting out a soft sigh as he analysed the suspect up and down. Jake would lean forward on his arms that rested along the cold surface of the table and cleared his throat interrupting the pleasing noise of the Metronome placed in the middle of the table.
"Sorry to keep you on ice for so long here, we understand you were a little agitated with having to come here so we hope this metronome would clear your head of any fog roaming around inside there and to edge off any pressure so that we can hear your full statement" Jake states clearly in a passive and almost reassuring tone.
"Mm.. I don't quite buy it, our informant has told us all about you. Scumbag, murdering other monsters didn't wet your appetite you had to resort to killing teenagers did you?" In a judging snarl Andy would de-escalate his aggression and simply narrow his eyes at the suspect maintaining his composure. Andy would take off his glasses and pull out a fine cloth and with a short exhale onto the lens he would clean them with quiet squeaks before planting them back on-top of his snoot and resuming his stare-down.
Gazing up suddenly showcasing some emotion for the first time in this interrogation his piercing amber eyes would gaze across the table at the two in awe, he gave up his first words.
"... Informant? You were informed by someone?" The cuffed man would ask in a light and calm tone of voice, his lip would quiver as he finished his sentence.
Jake would press his finger to his own lips and shushing him "We did have some assistance yes. It was someone from the scene, they gave quite an earful from what my friend here says, I believe your street name as you call it is... The Musician? You are the one definitely associated with the murder of this boy then. You rivalled this other gang that the boy was associated with.. didn't you?"
Lifting his head up a little more the shadow covering the top portion of his face would recede as the light would give it clarity instead. It was revealed he was a cat with ginger fur colour and portions of black stripes on his cheeks, he resembled more of a tiger than a street cat. Suddenly he would start to shake and slam his cuffed fists down onto the table in anger and seemingly in guilt
"I swear officer! I swear it.. I was just defending myself I know I've been a bad man in my days, I am a thug and a bottom-feeder but I was merely defending myself! In the eyes of the law I request your mercy.. I can't go to jail they'll have me lynched! Someone as powerful as that.. that.. SCUM fuck.. raccoon definitely has connections on the inside I swear it, you're signing my death warrant here. They set me up I swear it, who was it that informed you! It was one of Jaklo's boys wasn't it?" Breaking down into tears at the interrogation table he would start to overwhelm himself with panic and many mixed negative emotions weighed on him, at least this what he was projecting to the officers convincingly.
Andy would lean forward snapping his fingers suddenly at him "Hey.. Hey! You need to calm down, give us a sentence of your admission of guilt and we'll see what we can do for you, We can't disclose any details of the informant however. Although, I hate to be the bearer of bad news buddy. It doesn't fucking look good for yo-" Interrupted by a stern Jake with a nudge he would immediately hush his partner, offering him a reassuring nod as to signal he would handle it. Leaning forward and clasping his hands together on the table he would offer the petrified man some reassurance that he wouldn't get from his partner. The man as petrified as he looked also didn't seem happy that the identity of the informant wasn't given up.
"Yeah.. Yeah my partner is right, you are in some deep shit right now buddy I won't lie to you. What you did is unforgivable but if you confess upfront I'll make sure you're at least handled with care on the inside, no one will get to hurt you." Jake would reach over suddenly stopping the metronome leaving the room in silence with the gentle humming of the light above them. The Musician would slowly have an ocean of calm sink over him as he began to stop shuddering, the tears that stained his fur would stop flowing.
"Right.. Right" Letting out a soft sigh with a quivering breath out he would begin his statement "Sat here I unfortunately have to confess to the misdeed I have brought to that fine city... I did it, I murdered Rosco Jackson and I don't know where his body is but my men.. they.. took it somewhere presumably buried it I guess.. to try to cover it up? I'm certain if you pick one of my boys up they're bound to know, I only give the orders. I don't run my men that way to kill, I'm nothing like that other mobster.. murderer Krover. Me and Jaklo just.. we have a feud with one another that's all. It's funny actually, we're childhood friends you know--"
Andy would interfere again, sitting back in his chair and judgementally crossing his arms "Hmn.. You're with a small posse aren't you? Heard there is only two other close affiliates with you or.. Capos so to speak, they also go by street names too? Like.. The Dime or.. The Gambler?" Taking in this information The Musician would addon to his confession with a sniffle and a nod, "Yes.. He- uh.. prefers The Dime as a name, he's stubborn but he is my enforcer and he wouldn't hurt a fly. He struggles with anger issues, parents weren't very tenderly to him. Just do not call him The Gambler, he hates it. Something to do with his past I believe officer."
The two interrogators would sit back and stare at the crumbling suspect, simply digesting this information that has been graciously handed over without much effort. Suddenly Jake would stand to his feet causing the chair he sat on to nosily scrape along the cold floor "Mmm.. That enough information for you boys?" He asks while gazing over at the mirror that was obviously a hidden window at this point. A loud beeping coming from behind the officer as the locked door would alert open manually, Jake believing his Job was done here began to walk back towards the door care-free. Opening it and stepping out he'd hold the door open staring at his partner Andy "Hey Andy he gave up the information without effort. He's crumbling look at him, we'll keep him here with us and once we confirmed the proof of his information with this enforcer of his in cuffs we'll draw conclusions." Andy would digress and stand to his feet turning to face Jake with a nod but with his ambitious spirit he would disagree.
"Go fetch me a coffee. I'm gonna question him a little more and see what else he spits up. Make sure it's that god-damn blue protogen that makes it, I keep telling you that green bastard is a defective coffee maker- I could probably trust my smart phone to make a better coffee rather than that Scrap-Head --," The Musician would suddenly interrupt and speak out in a much louder tone than Andy interrupting his sentence while gazing at him with a sincere and worried expression, heavy breaths would exit his lungs in-between words. "You.. Want to question me some more? You've.. grilled me enough you need to leave me alone."
Jake unable to argue considering it was his partner's business would roll his eyes and walk out shutting the door behind him relying on his partner's independent nature, Walking the small distance to the analysis room facing the interrogation room, poking his head inside through the door. "Fellas.. Coffee?"
Meanwhile in the interrogation room, the solo interrogator would now sit idly and stare at the presentably dressed cat across the room who stared back with a cold and emotionless gaze. Many thoughts were rushing through the criminal's head but the cop couldn't read him one bit no matter how much he stared into those dead, cold feline eyes cloaked in the overhanging shadow of his fashionable top hat.
"You know.. my original plan was quite good in my eyes but sitting here slinging information at you two and watching you gobble it up so.. easily like starved dogs looking for food to fill their hungry.. bellies, a much .. much better plan has just come to mind and oh .. it's glorious what I can think of in such a short time span." The Musician uttered to the policeman while finally showing emotion on his face, a terrifying grin would spread along his face showing off his sharp teeth. Andy's ears would perk up and he'd lean forward a little with confidence, hoping to assert himself over the suspect to keep his mouth shut but at the same time curiosity overwhelmed him. It was his job to get as much information out of him as possible in actuality. "Plan? You're off your meds or something weirdo, What do you mean by plan? Didn't you just give us the full story? or are you holding out on us." Scoffing at the cat and taunting him into spitting up the fur-ball of information he was holding back. Nothing could prepare him for how powerful and malevolent his initial goal was now.
The sinister grin would stay plastered along the cat's fuzzy cheeks and a short cackle would escape his smiling lips before he would speak yet again "You!.. It was only ever you that's going to aid me in my mission. You're perfect, that spark of rage inside of you, you're not ordinary Bad Cop are you? so troubled and so soft on the inside like a Jawbreaker. You're tough on the outside and oh-so .. so very soft on the inside.. Has anyone ever truly given you the opportunity to let out that wrath in you? To kill someone without consequence.. Reminds me a little of my enforcer. I can play him like a fiddle.." his cuffed hands would rest along the table laying his palms out flat on the table
"I can use you too.. Such a reinforced person, you're hiding all that emotional weakness with anger. It's working alright, here you are.. a fine policemen that just got the answers out of a highly wanted street-cat with blood on his paws." His palms would slap in a neat and almost entrancing rhythm on the table producing a familiar melody to the policeman. "I know how you think of this society, it's bullshit and how you wish to beat information out of thugs rather than talk to them. I assure you I'm not thug, you just choose to view me that way because you've been blinded by those bastards in that room.. Monitoring every word I say, What if I told you that I am the key to your awakening? to finally do what you want without being pushed around by others, If you listen to me you won't have to be pushed around by anyone else.. Andy~" The Policeman would remain silent, unable to look away or even mutter anything else other than "..W-What are you doing?"
"You can put me in whatever prison you want at this point, or should I say your partner can. There's no need to be worried about this, I can use your help and channel that rage inside of you into something... useful, we both benefit from this choice in your life Andy. I win and you get to ignite that rage inside of you finally.. No holding back whatsoever.." The suspect would state and continue his rhythmic hand-made instrumental with skill. Somehow, Andy was focusing on him to an eerie extent and a light smile would appear on his face where the only expression is usually anger "I know.. I know, you're-- being fucking stupid.. did you drug me?" Andy asks in a shattered voice as he enters the emotional state, coaxed into it by the musicians rampage of hypnosis through musical rhythms demonstrated purely through noise patterns of the slapping on the table. "Nothing... but the answers and the path Andy, only through me will you seek enlightenment and you know it. Stop tricking yourself into normalising with these people, join me and I can put that troubled mind of yours to rest."
Suddenly he would stop the beat and quickly snap his fingers at the entranced policeman, humming quietly at him and watching his dazed state unfold before him as his mind is manipulated and slowly dissolving into nothing more than a puppet for the puppet-master who was once the prisoner in the room. The tables have turned and now it seems that Andy is the prisoner instead. "So, Andy? I have a little plan and you're currently my get out of jail free card. Care to take me up on my offer? I thought getting out of prison was going to be a lot harder but thanks to you.. it isn't." With a smug look infecting his psychotic grin he'd stare intensely at the officer, it was like he was a different person entirely. A tear would run down his face as if he was staring directly at an angel. His mind was broken with awe and a hint of terror at the same time, he had lost complete control of himself and there was nothing he could do.
"Yes.. By any means necessary, I will benefit your escape and.. and.." His words were spoken in a monotone voice with a saddened yet desperate to help facial expression wracked on his face. It was almost like he was trying to reject himself from speaking like this at all "and.. I am willing to die for you." ------
The door to the room monitoring the interrogation room would open, revealing a dark room with a desk facing the hidden window that peered into the much brighter and now empty interrogation room. Jake would stare with a peculiar look on his face at the now empty room before looking over at the other two officers, one being a shark and a bunny officer who was considerably a lot smaller. They monitored tapes of the interrogation that happened minutes ago where Jake and Andy intimidated the feline mastermind.
"Hey fellas.. Did Andy take the liberty of bringing the suspect out himself?" Jake asks walking in and closing the door behind him, carrying a tray of coffee as he sat next to the two. Ragnarok would turn around and stare into the room with a light grunt, puffing the cigar he had in his mouth and blowing it into Jake's face rudely "Hmm, you tell me Sherlock Holmes.. It was your partner and your suspect pendejo." The bunny would giggle and continue clicking onto various files on his computer before responding too and adding to the conversation "Meh, we weren't looking. Camera is turned off as well since the interrogation is over. Maybe he took the liberty of taking him out himself to be sent to trial. Seems like something that arrogant asshole would do anyway."
Jake would snarl and place the tray down on the table before bumping the bunnies shoulder "Hey.. He's independent not arrogant" The shark would snarl back and lean forward on his chair, biting the cigar as he towers over Jake "We don't go around bossing you guys around so you don't boss us around amigo, leave my partner alone or I swear I'll make your day a whole lot worse." Jake would melt and nod quickly with a sigh, intimidated by Ragnarok but not so much. Clearly he just wanted to avoid conflict "Sorry Rags.. Look I'll leave you guys to your analysis, get back to me when you come up with an answer" Jake would get up and take his coffee, receiving an angry stare-down from the Shark as he continued to puff his cigar as he watched him leave.
Appearing right back to where he started Jake would open the door allowing the sounds of chirping birds and distant oncoming cars that roamed his cosy and well-lit neighbourhood to seep into the house momentarily before he shut the door with a happy sigh, facing his wife that smiled at his appearance on the couch in front of him. "Hey hun, how'd things go?" She would ask as the TV blared through the house, broadcasting commercials for now.
Giddily he would approach and sit right down next to her after disarming himself and placing his belongings on a table including his gun, She was amused and let out a light chuckle at his positive mood. "Beautiful.. All fine n' dandy we caught that murderer and he spilled out onto the table out of cowardice, handed himself in as well which is unexpected from a street thug but apart from that- Beautiful is the word that fits what went down at that station today and was well worth getting up early on my off day for."
While they conversated behind them on the kitchen counter it was still a mess from the night before, leftover take-away pizza boxes littered the tables accompanied by an empty bottle of expensive wine. The house was peaceful and the general aura was sweet and light-hearted revolving the two's victory "Music to my ears, I would say we should throw a party but that'd involve more fast food and thus more calories-" Jake would shake his head and relax, wrapping his arm around her over her shoulders and focusing on the TV idly "Nah-Nah.. We should! Let's just take it easy on what we eat right? Can't hurt."
Christie would smile and lean into him, savouring the joyful moment from here before it was brought to a swift end by a loud knock on the door that rung out exactly four times. Her ears would perk up as she gazed at the door confused "Mailman came an hour ago, even then he doesn't knock" she'd chuckle playfully and add on to her sentence "Probably some girl scouts sellin' cookies, they're patrolling new neighbourhoods all the time. You should go tell em' we ain't buying. I am comfy". Jake would sigh and roll his eyes in a joking manner and stand up with a grunt "You sure you don't want any cookies? I could do with a few right now" Jake would approach the door and without peaking through the peephole would open the door.
His cheery behaviour would drop and his guard would raise as he was presented by someone he had not seen nor fit the aesthetic of the suburban and comforting neighbourhood. An opossum would stare him dead in the eye with a crooked smile, dressed in a brown open body warmer with a regular t shirt underneath suited with jeans and a beanie to accompany his head he posed as a regular person "Sup! Jake I presume? Mind if I have a talk with ya?"
Jake would shake his head and immediately respond in a sincere manner "We do not buy anything, we do not believe in anything you have to say about religion or anything e-" In a sudden outburst of rage the possum would send a hurdling powerful kick to his stomach catching him off guard and pushing him into the sanctuary of his home onto the floor winded and leaving him gasping for air while his wife suddenly stands with a yelp and watches in horror with widened eyes as the event unfolds out of her volition thanks to her shocked state. The stranger entered their household now fuelled on adrenaline.
"You do NOT get to shut me out that easily ya little bastard!" He would snort and slam the door behind him, causing a picture hung up on the wall to fall to the floor and crack, it was a picture of Christie and Jake on their wedding day. As he walked up and displayed even more of his unpredictable behaviour through his intense strength with a kick to his stomach again, keeping the officer down to the floor as his wife pleaded through a shout "Leave him alone! I'll call the cops, you got to leave right now sir!"
His anger would fade as he gazed towards the wife with a light wheeze to chortling laugh. "Uhh but the cops are already here and they're lying on the floor in front of me, funny world!" Reaching over and commandeering the officers idle gun before snapping his attention back on Christie to resume his crazy talk "Hey hey.. I'm just here to talk business 'kay? Your boyfriend here knows somethin' that could do me and a lot of my pals a whole world a' help, I know I am such a independent person mheh!" The female Jackal would become paralyzed from utter fear as she watched, unable to do much now since this vicious stranger was armed and threatening them. Looking down at the cop he'd squat down and stare into his eyes "Ahh my beloved friend on the force, we can work things out right? It's me! The Dime you were told all about me from my dear friend you... you.. RUTHLESSLY fucking INTIMIDATED!" His shout sent a shiver up Christies spine and she whimpered, practically hugging the wall behind her as his anger issues were on full display, pressing the gun into Jake's neck and watching his injured face dissolve into horror and bargain with his frightened words out of fear for his wife more than himself.
"P-Please.. look pal, we can sort somethin' out just leave my wife out of this okay? She's not involved in any of this. It's my job to interrogate--" The Dime would slam the butt of the gun onto his head just enough to stagger him essentially shutting him up and keeping him on the floor "BULLSHIT! YOU HAD A CHOICE YOU MORON!". Standing to his feet again he would gaze eerily over at his wife before approaching her. His sudden silence was overwhelming and so were his actions as he pulled a singular coin from the inside of his pocket and held it up "I think we should uh.. Leave it up to fuckin' good ol' fate to sort this situation out, because honestly girlie spilling the guts of innocent people really eats away at me at nights when im tryin' to get some beauty sleep.. Ain't my fault at all if chance decided whether she dies or not right? It is chance pullin' this here trigger not me. I got this neat lil' trick from a cool ass superhero movie I saw one night too!! I'm oh so very easily inspired!"
After stating his sinister message, Christie would remain trapped in place as a tear would run down her cheek from fear, worry and even more worry for Jake seeing him squirm on the floor and slowly come to a stance with blood leaking from his nose, motivated purely from the threat of death over his wife. The Dime would shrug and gaze over at Jake before swiftly approaching with an evil giggle "I can do this ALL fuckin' day brother--" His smug talk was met with an immediate punch in the face from Officer Jake leaving him with a busted lip and spilled blood. Jake rushed at the opportunity of taking him down to stop his rampage upon the two but to his dismay the evil man would prevail and send a knee kick to his stomach as Jake attempted to floor him by pushing his body weight onto him in his staggered state it failed miserably. Pushing the policeman down again as Dime gained the upper hand ruthlessly with a kick to his leg that sounded like it definitely hurt with its crack, Jake would of course let out a loud grunt of pain as The Dime towered over him with a smug smile knowing he had him immobilised and conscious, perfect for him to display one of his sick and twisted games to him. Turning to face Christie he would hold the coin up and ask one simple question "Heads or Tails? Your life depends on this bet baby! Make it count! don't let your boyfriend down now... " the tone in his voice was sinister and cold, staring the scared woman deep in her eyes as he held the coin towards her.
Jake would stare over at her in agony and uttered the word "D-Don't.." Badly beaten and at the will of The Dime.
With a quivering lip and even though she was overwhelmed with the threat of death she persevered through it demonstrating her intense composure and ability to work under pressure with a strong mentality; looking the man dead in the eye and gave her answer that was similar in tone with his cold tone only coated with more sincerity and determination "Tails.." The answer to the question would seal the deal as the coin went hurdling up into the air with a 'cling' like noise that echoed through Jake's head as he could do nothing but watch as it raised and dropped right back into the corrupted hand that tossed it. The verdict was final and so were her moments as he held it up proudly to showcase that it had in fact landed on Heads. Without another word he raised the gun aiming directly at Christie "Heads, You lost."
Without another word the room exploded from dramatic tension to chaos, The gunshot would echo through Jake's head and resonated with the very sound of the coin that led to his wife's inevitable death, laying flat on the floor as the now deceased corpse of his wife would lay along the cold surface with a bloody hole in her head that spoiled her pretty features, a wound that was inflicted with Jake's own gun. Blood splattered over the Take-Away Pizza boxes and her fate was indefinitely sealed as The Dime stared down at Jake who was almost just as dead inside as his wife only emotionally. "Poor chap.. She was just another loose end anyway, she saw me here and she knew who I am and she lost a bet after all so it's nothing personal buddy.. What is personal is you imprisoning our precious leader and makin' him talk 'bout me!!" Jake would hold no response, it was unaware if he was even listening and his only reaction was to cry as he utterly broke down from shock and dismay that this even happened. The Dime would coldly walk over and analyse her corpse before holstering the gun under his belt and turning back to face the emotionally broken officer "It's more painful to leave you alive at this point anyway, I needed to talk to you about something.. That's why you're still alive as of now."
The possum would sit down with a relaxed grunt on the floor and crossed his legs as he stared over the broken cop, playing with the casing of the bullet that ended his wife's life by rolling it along his palm and fingers, sitting like nothing happened and that he was friends with the cop he resumed a more quiet tone of voice compared to his wreck-less side. "Look, I know your little neighbours heard that gunshot and I got aroun' five minutes tops sitting here before your little pig friends come here and assist you with your wife over there, Since things got a little out of hand here I completely missed the whole point to why I was here in the first place" He would chuckle like it was something foolish that flew over his head and dropped the casing to the floor leaving a soft clank noise as it hit the cold surface.
"You mentioned an informant back there at the interrogation room with the boss and he was reaaaaaal curious to who that could be yknow! Me too honestly it's always fun finding out our rats as they could be dangerous to us, im sure ya understand bud- Specifically if it's Jaklo's little gang, we're trying to clean those fuckers out one by one and it'd be awesome to know that informants location!" Sitting up in a sudden outburst of rage he would attempt to punch the possum in the face but he wasn't off guard this time, catching the punch he would immediately retaliate and slam the officers own fist back into his face as Jake would cry out "You killed her! You fucking killed her! I am not telling you anything you fucking maniac, I'm going to fucking kill you" Suspending him on the floor as he fought he would put pressure on the throat of the officer to subdue him as he felt his anger creeping back out but he resisted to not kill him, clearly wanting him alive.
"We have your partner, but he doesn't know who this informant is.. Says only you and the chief knows about it.. but we can't get anywhere near the chief, he's so damn protected! you better spit out what you know or--" Saved by the bell or rather the sirens in this case the flashing lights of red and blue would shine in the distance accompanied by the well-recognised sirens. The opossum would sigh in a fit of compressed rage and slam the broken man to the floor as he quickly made his way for the back-door by the kitchen. "Gotta LOVE that fuckin' response time! I'll be back for you, we know where you are at all times! Maybe you'll come to us instead.." With that he flashed a toothy grin and made his way out of the officer's life for now.
Jake with tears streaming down onto his fur would sit up, grunting from his blunt injuries and crawling over towards his wife's corpse as his sobbing only intensified and broke him further. "Christie.. Christie please.. No-- No this isn't real." In a delusional mindset he would hug the body as blood leaked onto his uniform, cradling her as the sirens would blare outside and fellow officers headed towards the house. Little did they know they were far too late to prevent the tragedy that had befallen their fellow peacemaker.
