I had only been in that halfway sleep for a few minutes when I felt the car had been hit. My head slung to the side from the impact and glass littered all over me. The car was on its side when it stopped and my seat belt held me in my seat. I was sideways and disoriented, my limbs hanging towards B's seat. "B?" I said looking over but he laid still looking like he was in a peaceful dream. I wasn't sure what had hit us but that hit was hard. "What just happened?" Lamia questioned. I groaned "I don't know". I found the button in my seatbelt and undid it and fell right on top of B sliding right down his face and onto where the window used to be. Looking up I saw it first thing. Another black string leading from the side of the car with moving golden specks encapsulated in a platinum silver. "Lamia, are you seeing this shit?" I internally asked as my eyes grew wide. "Give me control NOW" she yelled. As soon as I released for her to take control, the car was hit again, sliding forward at a speed that felt like we were still driving. Lamia lifted B's torso so he didn't scrape the road as we moved and dug my knees into the steering wheel. Once we stopped, Lamia planted us on the ground where the window used to be and jumped. She had to have jumped 10 foot easily. She landed, digging our knee into the road and leaving a small crater. Following the string from the second hit, whatever hit us was in the sky. Looking up Lamia thought "Well thats not good. It's got wings." Lamia took a quick scan of the surroundings and saw we were nowhere. The only light that showed were the headlights from the car on its side. "Listen Lamia", "I hear it" the slow beat of wings rang through the night sky when suddenly they stopped and we heard a whooshing sound. I could hear Lamia internally counting the seconds when she jumped unexpectedly towards the car hitting something mid-air before it could hit the vehicle again. "What was that?" I asked feeling the wings form around our body as we connected. "Silent. Concentrating." was all she said in return. The body lay silent 30 feet from us in the road. Lamia locked on to it and took a fighting stance facing it and again started her countdown. "I think its dead" I thought but she ignored me. When she hit 1, the cracking noise started. She ran towards it as it flipped an arm and planted it in the road. Before it even had a chance to really get up, she kicked at it with a force I had never seen before. The creature spread it wings and was gone before she could hit it. She planted her feet sliding across the road before we stopped. "Gressil I know it's you!" she yelled at the sky. After receiving no response, she yelled again "Don't make me kill you! You know I can!". The flapping came closer and we looked up to see a disgusting figure hovering over us looking over at us curiously. It looked like his face and skin was melting off. "Drop the act." she calmly stated. Power oozing out of our words. Within a flap of his wings, a red headed man with red eyes dropped onto the road. He was angelic in this form. With his wide shoulders tapering down to a nice 'v' at the bottom of his stomach, it made his presence known. "Ah and who might you be?" he hissed. I was expecting a much deeper voice than what he spoke with. "I was the only female to ever hurt you in Hell Gressil. Have you forgotten me so quickly?" lamia quickly retorted taking the moment to look at her nails. "Lamia, Is that you?" he hissed slowly turning his head to the side. Lamia nodded. "Well if that is the case, you should know your place!" and bounded towards us going for our neck. Before I realized what happened, Lamia had him by the throat. "Gressil, you should know better." She said teasingly and continued "What is an old pit like you doing here anyway.". He rolled his eyes unbothered that he was at a disadvantage. "If you must know, the demon driving that car, has pissed off some higher-ups. You of all demons should know how that goes." He said non chalantly. "Hm." lamia retorted shrugging her shoulder. "Well that demon is mine." "Lamia, if you do this, you will not get another vessel." Lamia tightened her grip, "Who cares." and threw him. He corrected himself as wings exploded out of his back and turned his course towards us. "lamia how do you kill him?" I asked hoping she would hear me through her own countdowns. "We don't. We separate the head and he'll have to wait for another vessel." she replied before taking a running start towards him again. The swirls started warming. The feeling becoming more and more familiar to me. Just as he reached us, Lamia fell back and we slid under him. Lamia grabbed his foot pulling it up over her head and his chest smacked into our feet. She wrapped her arms around him flipping him under us in the process. She then fell forward keeping his wings penned and using her arms to keep his ankles driven into the ground. I felt a pain in our left ankle and looked back to see that he had snapped it. Lamia turned, pushing off his knee before he could reach the other one spinning us. Now face to face with him, you could see the snake like skin surrounding those bright reds eyes. Lamia put both of her hands on his neck and began to squeeze. He clawed at our arms, drawing blood, and I felt the warmth pulling me to the front. Black blood began to drip from his neck as I was then pulled to the front unexpectedly and Lamia started internally screaming "We're going to die you idiot!" Following a feral instinct I hadn't known before, I closed my eyes putting my mouth to his and felt the soul transfer into my chest spreading even more of the safe warmth throughout my limbs. The warmth heated almost to a burn, exploding outwards before it retracted into me, and I opened my eyes. His lifeless eyes stared back at me and then I felt the burning on my face again. It dripped down my cheeks in waves and for a second, I thought it was going to take up the entire bottom of my face. Realizing what I had done I flew off of him. I started spitting and wiping my mouth sitting back on my knees. Catching my breath, I checked my ankle. It was already back in place like nothing had happened to it. "Mia" lamia started, "You killed him." her tone flat in disbelief. "Well yea you said he'd just get another vessel." "No Mia, what you just did is bad. really bad." "Why?" I asked the fear starting to bleed through. "That's not supposed to happen Mia. How in the hell did you do that?" Before I could answer, we heard coughing coming from the car. Looking over, we could see B poking his head through the passenger side window. "Mia? You ok?" he called. "Yea B I'm good. Are you good?" " I've seen worse." He said hopping out. Walking over his face went pale, "How is he dead without his head seperated?" he said pointing between me and the lifeless body. "I may have sucked his soul out." I said with a nervous chuckle. ""YOU WHAT?" he said as he started pacing, "Oh this is bad. So bad. Do you even know what you did? This is a prince of hell Mia. All succubi and incubi answer to the princes. DID LAMIA DO THIS? Put her forward NOW!" he said his face wrought in anger. Without pause I let Lamia came forward. "I'm just as surprised as you ok! I almost separated his head and then she took control and ate him!" I cowered within myself. I had never killed anyone. Even Mike, Lamia had killed. B threw his hands out and then up to the sky "HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?!?". Lamia just shrugged her shoulders. "Mia, how did you do this?" he asked and I took control again. I described the warm feeling and how I followed instinct. He sat in disbelief finally breaking the silence. "I've got to burn the body and then help me flip the car". I nodded and watched as he proceeded to drag the stiff body off the road and light it up with only a small lighter. As soon as the flame reached the skin, the whole body went up as if it was doused in gas. We walked over to the car and flipped it. After a few tries the engine roared to life and we got in heading back to the cottage. The tires were warped and it felt like we were driving over speed bumps the whole way. The night wind coming in through the windows whipped my hair around and B sat in silence disbelief still on his face. I began thinking about how what I did was wrong and Lamia chimed in. "Not wrong Mia. Impossible. That is the first demon killed since Lucifers fall." My eyes grew wide at her words. "But i thought demons just got another vessel once they were killed." "Normally they do but they can't get another vessel without their soul Mia." I now understood the gravity of the situation. "Yes Mia, and you did it in YOUR form with your humanity attached." "I ate him Lamia." I replied as tears started to blur my vision. "Mia, it'll be ok don't cry. We'll figure this out". I didn't have the strength to reply as the tears fell. B obviously hearing me upset placed his hand on my shoulder "Why so upset Mia?". I choked out between sobs that Lamia had always done the killing. I hadn't before. "It'll be ok Mia. Plus if they honor the demon hierarchy, you're going to be a princess. See? Not all bad.". I cried the rest of the drive back paying no attention to B. Once we were in view of the house, the tears subsided and I dragged myself to the door. Sadness consumed me. "I'm gonna go get some rest B. I'll see you tomorrow." "Goodnight Mia and hey, don't beat yourself up. It's your nature now". I went back to the bedroom and flopped on the bed ignoring my nasty clothes drifting off to sleep.
