Chapter 163 - Exodia 163: Fate

The Wyvern growled softly.

Suddenly, it faced the entrance; it roared far more viciously compared to when it faced Shoya and the Tarots.

"Sh--gyahh!"

As soon as Kuroha entered the Wyvern's nest, the Wyvern flew toward her, in an attempt to attack her.

Kuroha ran forward, dodging the Wyvern's talons.

"Flame Grip!"

With a chant, Kaguya cast a spell.

A hand of flames clutched the Wyvern's head and threw it at the wall on the other side of the room.

"Hey!"

Kuroha waved at Shoya in her cat form.

"You two are alright!"

Shoya beamed.

"Who are these three?"

Kaguya asked, eyeing them suspiciously.

She was on edge from the evil aura that Asmodeus was emitting. Of course, it was from his Demonic Transfiguration.

"They were fighting the Wyvern. We're going to fight the Wyvern together so we'll have a truce."

"Yeah but I asked, who are--"

The Wyvern roared.

"Kuro, Kaguya. We need to attack its nape, armpits, groin and kneepits. Then we'll attack the scales."

They nodded.

The Wyvern flapped its wings, creating two massive currents of electricity.

"Scatter!"

Titania shouted, everyone dispersed.

Asmodeus switched to his Demon Eyes of Restriction, white and black eyes. For twenty seconds, his target cannot move unless their existent mana is larger than his.

"Restriction!"

He clasped his hand in the Wyvern's direction. It was like gravity became heavier around the Wyvern, holding it down to the Earth.

Titania, Kuroha, Shoya and Kaguya took the opportunity.

Shoya's Erebus transfigured into two daggers, one dagger and one shortsword, he went for the left armpit.

"Shadow Enhancement!"

The shadows around Erebus became darker and larger.

Titania summoned another sword, this time, Muramasa. The sinister aura produced by Asmodeus was absorbed into the katana's blade.

"Demon Blade Muramasa!"

She aimed for the groin.

Kuroha assumed her cat form and channeled all of her mana into her fist, aiming for the Wyvern's nape, though the gap between the scales was very thin.

"Impact!"

Kaguya unsheathed her sword.

It was a white curved sword, which did look similar to a katana but was not.

It had runes engraved into the blade.

Once Kaguya embued mana into the blade, the runes glowed a bright crimson before the blade burst into flames.

"Sword of Flames!"

Kaguya aimed for the right armpit.

At the same time, the Wyvern suffered damage from all four parts. It screamed in agony as they relentlessly attacked it with their attacks.

"That looks painful..."

Ishtar whispered to herself.

"Oi, don't go feeling sympathy for a rampant beast like this fucker."

Asmodeus said, still holding his hand out.

The four of them did not let up their attacks until...

"RYAAAHH!"

The Wyvern gnarled, erratically releasing lightning.

Kuroha was struck by a bolt and was temporarily immobilised while the others dodged the bolts.

"Now aiming for its scales should be easy..."

Shoya muttered.

"I think I'll up the ante."

"Me too."

Kaguya said, landing by his side.

"I'll just use my Singularity and deal the final blow."

Kaguya grinned.

"Don't even think about it. I'm the one who'll get the final blow."

Shoya proclaimed with a smile.

"Try me."

The ends of Kaguya's scarlet hair burst into flames. The flames shrouding her sword became a strong pigment of red. Her eyes blazed white.

Shoya focused his mana into the edge of his blades.

"Seems like they're going serious."

Ishtar pointed out.

"They're incredibly strong. I wonder if they're going to bring us trouble."

She uttered.

"Moron. It shouldn't matter since they'll leave after they exterminate the Wyvern. It's clear that it's their mission."

Asmodeus said, watching the two of them.

(But still... I wonder if they're really Magi. They're powerful but this power they have feels strange. Almost strangling.)

He thought.

Shoya jumped at the Wyvern first.

The Electric Wyvern jabbed its jaw at Shoya, snapping at him, however, he phased through and ended up behind the Wyvern.

"God... Using Nightwalker is tricky and disorienting."

Though it was a spell that Shoya came up with himself, it still felt annoying and funny for him to use. No doubt that it was helpful.

"Prepare yourself."

Shoya landed on the Wyvern's head, raising his two weapons.

"Behemoth."

As his weapon's blades burst into shadows, Shoya slashed at the top of the Wyvern's head continuously with fearsome speed, constantly hitting the same place to destroy the weakened scales.

"More, more, more. Faster, faster, faster."

He whispered to himself.

Slowly but surely, his hits became faster and behind each hit was unbelievable power.

The Wyvern roared in pain. It attempted to shake Shoya off but it did not work.

Then, it was Kaguya's turn.

Standing in a Sha-no-kamae stance, Kaguya prepared herself.

"Now."

She told herself.

Launching herself at the Wyvern, she sliced upwards, from its belly up to its forehead, the cut appeared before it exploded with flames.

"One more."

Shoya stopped slashing at the Wyvern's head and dropped down, switching Erebus' form to a scythe. He aimed for the Wyvern's throat, meanwhile Kaguya aimed for its stomach.

Kaguya's flames disappeared. She transferred the heat to the tip of the blade.

"Death Thrust."

The flaming girl thrusted her sword at the Wyvern's stomach. As it made contact, the stomach melted and burst, creating a hole in the Wyvern's stomach.

Blood flew onto the ground and the Wyvern's intestines came out.

At the same time, Shoya followed through with his scythe. At first, it got stuck against the Wyvern's throat, but after using more of his strength, the scythe cut cleanly through the Wyvern's throat, lobbing its head off.

The head dropped onto the ground, causing the nest to shake slightly.

"There we go. Lobbing its head off was useful."

"No, piercing its stomach was."

Kaguya began arguing with Shoya but he did not care much.

"We shouldn't be squabbling like children. I guess either way, both of our attacks were fatal."

He said, putting Erebus back into his shadow.

"Anyway, what was that? You suddenly got increasingly strong when you burst into flames."

"Oh, that? My Singularity is... Actually, you can figure that out for yourself."

"Huh? Why, we're teammates?"

"But, I still want a rematch. I don't know your Singularity, so telling you mine wouldn't be fair."

Kaguya smirked.

(This girl...)

Shoya growled in his head.

"That was impressive."

Titania clapped, walking toward Kaguya and Shoya.

"Thanks."

"But, is your other teammate going to be alright?"

She asked, pointing at Kuro, who was shaking from touching her hair since she got electrocuted.

"Yeah, she'll recover."

(I think.)

Shoya said.

"Oh yeah, I didn't get your names."

Titania asked.

She wanted to confirm something. Both Asmodeus and Ishtar had felt something. Their overwhelming power.

Titania did not think that they were Magi despite their power. This was because of their looks. They were, without a doubt, teenagers. If so, then they came from a Streia academy. Most likely from the prestigious Altheria.

Another reason was because of what the boy had just said.

'Why, we're teammates?'

It is unlikely that the team that had been sent to exterminate the Wyvern was a team of Magi since they usually are not powerful because their teams are based around balance.

It had to be a team set up by someone else. Like a principal. Magi usually work alone but are put with others on missions. Working in the same group is rare.

Or so, that was what Titania surmised from the information that she gathered in the Streia community over the last 10 months.

"Ah, my name is---"

"We should be asking for your names."

A girl said.

It was Maria, who entered with Emika.

The reason those two were late was because of Emika's twisted ankle. She could not run fast with an ankle like that, which was why Maria stayed with her, to ensure her safety.

"We've been asked to come here to exterminate the Wyvern by Ryoka Kamish. How about you?"

Maria asked Titania.

(Ryoka Kamish? Isn't that the new principal of Altheria? What should I say... Ah.)

The woman smiled.

"We were asked to come here by Ryouma Katagiri. You know him, right?"

Maria watched her, carefully.

(Her confidence. She's probably telling the truth. Ryouma Katagiri is in charge of the Kyushu area and personally in charge of these ruins. If he asked them, then...)

"Well, I guess there's no problem."

She smiled.

Maria used her Puppet Mastery to help Kuroha stand.

"Can you move now?"

"Y-yeah, I'm still a bit shaky from that lightning bolt."

She said.

"Hey, you two, let's go back. We finished our mission as soon as we got here."

Maria said.

Kaguya and Shoya jogged over to the group.

"Well, it was a nice time together."

Titania waved at Kaguya and Shoya.

The two waved back and slowly walked toward the tunnel.

"Hey, Shoya, don't you find something weird?"

Kaguya whispered.

"There should be only one way to get to this room. So how did they get here?"

Shoya turned around to observe their group.

There was a hole behind them but it looked to be man-made. Meaning they smashed their way through the ruins to the Wyvern.

(That's weird. Wouldn't that Katagiri guy give them a map if they didn't know how to get--. A map... A map? If they were sent here, why did they not have a map? If they had one, they would have been at the same entrance as us. There didn't seem to be any signs of people being there recently.)

"Ah, Ephraim, Ragnarok!"

(Huh?)

Two people entered the room. Shoya could not see the two properly, but the name, 'Ragnarok,' sounded similar to the name, 'Ragnar.'

He walked towards their group, taking Erebus out of his shadow.

"Shoya! Where are you going?!"

As soon as they heard the name, 'Shoya,' they looked over at the boy who was walking toward them.

Ragnarok's eye widened.

He pushed Asmodeus and Ishtar out of his way as he sauntered toward the boy. A sword of blood formed in his hand.

Once they were within 50m of each other...

"RAGNAR!"

"SHOYA SASAKI!"

Almost as if led together by fate, they began fighting.
