Early morning Tuesday, I felt like my mana had completely replenished and I didn't feel any more side effects from mana exhaustion.
Since I recovered, it was time to go on that emergency mission.
It was abrupt but I told my team that we were going early morning today.
I had already told them about the mission beforehand, on Monday, after school, when they came to visit me.
Luckily, our outfits were finished early at Principal Kamish's command.
Apparently, they've been weaved with mana-nullifying materials, only to a certain extent though. Mine was an all-black outfit since I thought it would fit nicely. I stuck with the trenchcoat look that originated with Altair.
There isn't anything really special about it excluding the fact that the cloak I'm wearing can conceal my presence for a short time. In other words, it's good for stealth.
"Oh, Kaguya, yours looks nice."
Kuroha complimented the red-haired girl.
"Thanks."
She grinned.
Kaguya wore the least out of all of us. By that, I mean she showed the most skin.
She had a coat over a shirt, which revealed her stomach; it was like a crop top. She wore dark shorts and leggings.
The girl had a curved sword by her side. Since it was sheathed, I couldn't tell if it was a katana but its hilt and hand guard did not look anything like a katana's.
"Well, 'thanks' is what I want to say but Emika looks the best."
"Ah, no. It's just..."
Emika blushed and waved her staff around in embarrassment.
She dressed like a cleric. It fitted her due to her orange hair and Light Magic.
She wore a white dress which looked to be something similar to a nun's outfit. She had two stripes around each shoulder with a gold pattern and a cross on it.
I already have two girlfriends but I have to say, she is beautiful.
There was that blue-jewelled staff she had. I can't believe she got that commission from the school. Wouldn't that be expensive?
I heard commissioning weapons was around ¥2,000,000 or something.
"Guess my outfit is the plainest."
Kuro's outfit was more similar to mine. She did want our looks to be similar. She wore a cloak and a tracksuit underneath. It looked unbelievably simple, not that I can talk.
"Instead of fawning over outfits, why don't we carry out the mission that was given to us by the principal?"
Ms Frister scolded us.
"Line up, I'll give a mission overview."
We did as she said.
She didn't have a clipboard with her, meaning that she memorised the details. Impressive, I must say.
"We're going to Nagasaki."
"Eh?!"
All of us exclaimed.
I know she said mainland which meant Japan itself but we're going to Kyushu?
Ah, I never mentioned the fact that we're going to the mainland to the others, so I guess this is news to them.
"We're going to a cave in Nagasaki? Fukui cave?"
Kaguya asked.
"No, it's just an underground ruin that's been there for years without normal people knowing. Those ruins were discovered and Magi miners have been mining adamantite there. Though, in recent days, the ruins have been occupied by a Wyvern."
"We're supposed to defeat a Wyvern?!"
Emika shouted.
"A Wyvern? What's that?"
Kuro asked.
"Wyverns are vicious reptiles. They're massive scaled lizards with wings. Though they're large, the most dangerous thing about them is their wings. They're at least B+ ranked mana beasts."
Emika explained.
"Isn't that a Dragon you're talking about?"
Kaguya chimed in.
"Dragons are the final evolution of Wyverns. Drakes is the beast's initial form. They're large and scaled like Wyverns but their teeth and wings aren't fully grown. Dragons are slightly larger than Wyverns and they can breathe fire, meanwhile, Wyverns can't."
We're asked to kill a Wyvern. I'm not looking forward to it. I don't know why Principal Kamish couldn't dispatch a Magi team instead of students.
"The Wyvern we're facing is an Electric Wyvern. When they flap their wings, they shoot out electrical currents. We need to deal with it so the Magi miners can continue."
Guess they need ore urgently for the market or just for company use. Still... that principal plans to do something with me but I don't exactly know what.
There's also the picture of that guy who was hanging out with Maki. To think that Principal Kamish was after him and that he's a part of the Major Arcana who want to take Emika--.
Wait, why didn't she put Emika into protective custody then?
I'm sure we told the authorities about what we knew about the Major Arcana and, as principal, that means she should know.
Even if they haven't confirmed their current goal, they should still at least try to protect Emika...
"Oi, Shoya!"
"Huh?"
Ms Frister shouted at me.
"We're going to the teleport gate now. Hurry up."
"A-ah, right!"
I jogged toward the rest of the group.
All of this is too sudden for me. Eh, it's fine.
I relaxed by putting my hands behind my head.
It's not like I'm not used to abrupt things and problems.
---
"There seems to be a Wyvern residing within the ruins."
Ephraim told the rest of the group.
"A mere lizard cannot stop us from completing our God's request."
Titania clasped her hands and began to pray, exactly like how a nun would. Though she was not one, she merely dressed as one.
"Master is not a God. He hates being called a God, remember?"
Ishtar told Titania.
"But he shouldn't hate the fact that we revere him."
Titania retorted.
"So, if we defeat the Wyvern then we can get to the sealing room, right? If so, we still need to find the Key that Dad was trying to locate and capture."
Asmodeus reminded the group.
"Yes, that's where Maki comes in."
Ragnarok said.
"I thought she was for luring in that guy you claim is the Black Emperor."
Ishtar titled her head.
"The Key is also a student at Altheria. We can threaten him with the life of someone he cares about at hand."
"Will it work?"
"You should know humans, Ishtar, their weakness is their love for others."
Ragnarok grinned.
"That's how we get them, however, only after we kill the Wyvern and confirm Master's tomb is down there. Let's move."
"Right."
