Chapter 157 - Exodia 157: Origin of the Past (8)

{YEAR 120}

Hundreds of years later, Maria was left alone without any people she could call friends.

Eugene ended up marrying Aura, only to kill her due to her lingering love for the deceased Fey. Eugene killed her due to jealousy.

Aura only married him to see if her love would disappear.

Eugene was then killed by a guillotine.

Zephyr lived a fulfilling life. After finishing training with Erebus, she attended the magic university in Aristonia and found love there.

She married an aristocrat and they had three children. Even 500 years later, her descendants are still alive.

While she was alive, she would spend a lot of time with her friend, Maria, and her children.

Even in year 120, Maria is a friend of the Amethyst family, Zephyr's family.

Maria is now an important figure within Albatross when it comes to magic and martial arts.

In year 120, Maria made an important decision.

...

"You want to what with me?"

A man sat on a throne in a castle, similar to Altair's.

This man was the Mortal Sin of Greed, Regulus.

He was also the White Emperor.

He had white hair and red eyes, the complete opposite of Altair. Other than his hair and eyes, his face and build were the same as Altair's.

"I want an Exchange. You should be able to do that with your Yuna."

Maria told him.

"Well, yeah, depending on what you're willing to give up, then I can give you something you want in exchange. But!"

Regulus stuck his index finger up to give her a warning.

"You'll lose something important to you and the things you're willing to give up in exchange."

Then, Regulus found something strange.

He looked around Maria but he did not see a bag or anything of the sort.

"Hey... I don't usually ask this but I'm slightly curious. What're you going to exchange?"

He asked.

"Well, my mana arts."

There was an eerie silence in the room. The two stared at each other with nonchalant looks.

Regulus was unsure.

"A-are you sure? I mean, that's new."

The Mortal Sin was caught off guard by her request.

"No one gives up their mana arts. Especially not a mage. Especially if that mage is Maria Frister, the Omnipotent Mage. What for?"

"Puppet Mastery."

When she began talking, Regulus became intrigued.

"Continue."

"I want to be able to control anything successfully with a string of mana. It's impossible following the laws and theories of mana, so that's why I thought that an Exchange with you would work since yours defy the laws of the natural world."

"That does make sense. You can't pass mana through anything other than a medium, right? Like the human body or a sword?"

Maria nodded.

Regulus smiled.

"Okay, I'll make the Exchange."

The White Emperor raised his hand and a gold light engulfed Maria.

The woman felt a warm sensation fill her bones and blood, then, it disappeared along with the gold light.

"I've finished the Ex--"

"I grew smaller!"

Maria exclaimed.

It was true. Before she looked like an 18-year-old but now she looked younger, as if she was a 14-year-old.

"I like you. Your height was more important than your transferred lineage as a Demi-God. That's hilarious."

He chuckled.

Maria sneered at him.

"Anyway, can you use spells?"

Maria held her hand out and attempted to cast the Shadow Magic spell, Shadow Arrow.

She has completed it without difficulty before but she could not do it after the Exchange.

Maria attempted with an incantation but it would not cast.

The woman, now like a girl, moved her fingers and Regulus raised his arms.

"Huh? My arms just..."

The Emperor looked down at Maria.

"Ah, so it's you. The fact that you can do it without me seeing the mana threads or noticing is incredible for the first time. It is easy to break out of, though."

Regulus said, breaking out of Maria's hold.

"Hmph. I'll just have to practice with it later."

The girl said.

---

The Paladin War came about and it was against an unsealed King Solomon, who took residence in the body of Celestia Crestfallen.

All Districts fought against the all-powerful King Solomon. His power was almost unmatched.

Even against 9 Emperors and 7 Mortal Sins, 14 in total because of Aden-Lada and Regulus, King Solomon held his own.

No doubt the body of a vampire progenitor helped him.

It was only once but Maria had met King Solomon after a large battle.

Maria was the commander of a squad of mages. That squad of mages obliterated beasts made by King Solomon. It was then that King Solomon killed all the other mages except for Maria.

...

"You!"

Maria saw a shadow on top of a mountain of corpses.

She used her Puppet Mastery to break the shadow's arm but she felt the strings of mana unravel.

"What?"

The shadow disappeared.

"You possess such a wonderful spell. Exchanging mana arts for such an ability. I have to commend you, Demi-God."

The voice said.

The girl turned, ready to give the person a blow to the face. However, she stopped just short.

She saw Celestia.

Someone who was like an older sister to her. Though, she died.

"C-Celestia..."

She whispered.

The woman smiled.

"I am not Celestia, girl. I am King Solomon."

Luckily, with that encounter, due to King Solomon's curiosity, she was left alive.

---

After years, King Solomon's rampage on the world came to an end mainly because of Altair.

But, because he was able to defeat King Solomon, the other Emperors began to fear his power.

And so, they decided to kill him.

Altair accepted their fear and allowed them to kill him.

Maria did all she could to stop it but even her authority and power were useless.

Soon, Altair was executed and things changed until the new era came about.

Since the beginning of the new era, Maria was travelling the world, specifically Europe, until the end of the 20th century when she decided to reside in Japan.

And it brings us to the current day, 21st century, with Maria being a teacher at Altheria Academy...
