Chapter 91 - Exodia 91: Calm Mind

"Uh, so... Why did I come here?"

The girl was sitting on a chair in front of some monitors. She turned to me.

"To get a check-up."

This room is definitely larger than Astoria's. No, maybe that wasn't Astoria's main room.

"Check up for what?"

21 monitors, 7 different PCs for 3 monitors, 14 ring lights, a large TV extending through all 21 monitors and 7 chairs. Also, 7 consoles on each PC.

All LED keyboards and mouses. Headsets on each keyboard. I'm not going to mention the number of controllers she has.

A gamer. A true gamer.

No, what type of gamer can play on 7 setups at once?

Just looking at and analysing all of them from a glance is mind-bending.

"Mana is continuously gathering in your mind. Soon, you'll probably overload."

I probably already am.

Anyway, what Astoria did was unlock my mind and now several mana particles are continuously being absorbed into my mind. Why would she help me unlock such a technique if it could kill me?

"How long?"

That was my first question. If she took me here, then that means she probably has a way to fix me.

"You're not going to ask if I can fix you?"

The Emperor said, biting her lollipop.

"Why else would you bring me here and diagnose me?"

"You forgot my name, didn't you?"

The girl acted slightly mad.

Yes, but...

"It's because my brain is processing too many things at once. You only told me your name once so I don't really remember it. It's impossible to remember something I only heard once when I'm constantly getting information about how many monitors, PCs, keyboards, consoles, graphic cards and controllers you have in the room. I'm even analysing how many hairs you have on your head."

Okay.

This Calm Mind thing is changing me. The me before this would react with a stutter or try to make an excuse but I'm giving logical answers. Answers that are too logical!

But...

Astoria was probably right. Calm Mind doesn't change me, it's probably the mana particles continuously gathering in my mind and interrupting with something. If we can simply reduce the mana particles being absorbed, then I'll return to normal.

But, why does absorbing mana particles give me Calm Mind?

"I guess... that does make sense seeing what type of skill Calm Mind is."

"Hm? What'd you mean?"

The girl looked at me confused.

"What? You don't know what type of skill it is?"

"Uh... No, Astoria just said that I have to learn this and Advanced Depth Perception."

She facepalmed.

"That woman..."

The Emperor looked up at me with a disappointed expression.

"Listen, Calm Mind is a skill anyone can learn. With what you're learning, you probably think that it's very useful and good, right?"

I nodded.

"It is but the problem is that it unlocks the limiters put on your brain and makes it so the body works in overdrive. Which is why you're absorbing information of things with a single glance unconsciously."

The girl said.

What? Even my body?

So, after my mind is like this, even my body will shut down?

I'm still covering my right eye to reduce the amount of information I absorb but I'm still getting a lot.

"With the number of mana particles you're absorbing, you'll die from mana poisoning in around 3 hours. But, before that, your mind will probably shut down in a single hour."

"Huh?! Doesn't Astoria know about this?! Why didn't she try and stop me?! Besides, why did she teach me such a dangerous skill?!"

"Calm down."

As soon as she said that, the anger I had dissipated and I listened to what she had to say.

"The latter reason you should already know about."

Wei--Regulus.

"As for why she did not stop you, is probably because she can see the future."

"Yeah, I know about that. She can see the future but can't tell anyone. Why did sh--"

Then I realised what the girl was talking about.

"Yup. She can see it but can't tell anyone. The future she saw probably led to me healing you which is why she let you leave."

That's quite the roundabout way to get the Purple Emperor to heal me.

"Why didn't she just ask you?"

"Astoria isn't good with trivial things. She's usually in that throne room of hers, looking outside of the window in boredom. I often invite her to play games but she declines."

There was a sad smile on the Purple Emperor's face.

Let's change the subject.

"So, how will you heal me? Without somehow removing the Calm Mind skill?"

"Well, for that, I'll need to limit your unlocked limiters on your mind."

She got up and walked toward me.

"Sooner or later, the limiters I put on you will fade either, when I want, or when your body and mind can take the constant information flushing into your brain."

The Purple Emperor put her hand on my head and closed her eyes.

She's a being who's lived for a long time but she looks like a girl who's barely younger than me.

Her purple eyes look nice. I kind of wish I had them.

"Partial Seal."

She said, suddenly, the information I absorbed into my mind decreased. Now, I wasn't thinking of everything I saw and got the information instantly.

Now, I was receiving information slightly more than normal and it didn't mess with my vision or body in any way.

"Woah... It really worked."

I feel like I'm not going to answer logically out of anywhere.

"I used an illusionary spell on you called Partial Seal. As I said, it will remove when I want or when the seal can't contain you anymore."

"Thanks for that, uhh..."

I removed my hand from my eye and looked the girl in the face, attempting to remember her name.

"Thanks, Lili."

Lilith gave a brief smile.

"You remembered then. Now,"

She put her arm around my neck and pulled me toward her.

"We'll be doing a 1v1 in an FPS game."

"Huh?"

"You're free, aren't you?"

"Well... yeah..."

"Great, there's 2 hours until dinner. Let's start playing now."

"Uh, okay!"

And so, she dragged me along and we played for 2 hours before eating dinner and going to sleep.

Playing with Lilith is fun but hell...
