Chapter 10 - Pillow thoughts

Pauline went to the hotel where the party was held to go investigate the identity of the mysterious man. She shouldn't bother her self with this, but she couldn't get it off her chest. So here she was, in the security room bribing the security guys on guard so that she could see the surveillance cameras of the party that night.

They refused at first, but they could not refuse the amount of money Pauline was willing to offer.

Pauline was getting frustrated as she could not find the exact moment Diana walked into the mysterious man's room, so she had to watch the party from when Clark gave his speech. It was very boring, and she wanted to move to the part she came for, but she had to wait and be patient.

"Wait!"

Pauline said as they got to the part where Diana left for the bathroom. "Could you slow down the pace?" Pauline said. The video was played at maximum speed so that it would go by faster.

Pauline looked closely and saw the interaction between Diana and the man, butt she could not make out the face of the man because he was inside the room while Diana was outside.

Just then...

"Can you please zoom in on that tattoo," Pauline said as she squinted her eyes trying to make out the image on his left hand.

It was a phoenix bird. A huge one at that. It looked like it was in the middle of a fire as it was painted in orange.

...

"Are you sure you can handle being my secretary Miss Diana?" Skylar said as he rolled his pen in between his fingers. A habit of his.

"Even though I studied hotel management at the University I'm sure I'll be able to do just fine, all you need to do is lay out the instructions" Diana said as she breathed hastily, she was nervous.

It seems like whenever she's in the presence of Skylar she doesn't think she just acts, impulsively.

"Alright then, you are set to start work next tomorrow. Use tomorrow to rest as it's going to be one hell of a job for you." Skylar smirked at the thought of all the workload Diana will have to endure. She just laid a trap for herself.

Clark was surprised and happy at this arrangement, but he also pitied Diana so much as the smirk on his boss's face could only mean one thing: he had something up his sleeves, and that something was not good.

"You can ask Linda to prepare a room for you; Clark won't be available to take you home today as he has matters to finalize before you take over."

"Am I sleeping over, I mean can I sleep over?" Diana said with shock clearly etched on her face. Just a moment ago it seemed like he couldn't bear to stay in the same space with her, and now he has allowed her to sleep in his house. She really can't understand this man.

"You better act on it fast before I change my mind" Skylar said as he saw that Diana was not moving and looking for some kind of confirmation that he was serious.

Diana ran out of the study and informed Linda of Skylar's words, and they got to it. Soon a room was prepared for her, and she freshened up.

"This bed is wonderful!" Diana exclaimed as she lay on the bed and relaxed. She went over what happened today. She was a bit apprehensive about staying in Skylar's house, so she tried as much as possible to keep awake.

But the waves of sleep had other plans as she was already snoring the night away.

It was 2 AM and Skylar found it hard to sleep as usual. The memories of that day won't leave him.

He stood up to get some water, hopefully he will sleep after doing a lap around his house. He went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water and started walking around aimlessly till he reached Diana's door.

Her room was located on the first floor, so it was not shocking that his legs took him all the way there. He opened the door enough to see Diana sprawled on the bed. She slept so soundly while he had been having sleepless nights.

This reason alone made the hate he has for her to increase by a few notches. He walked in slow and quiet strides into the room and just looked at Diana's sleeping face.

She looked beautiful even with the drool that came to form at the side of her lips. He hates to admit that. But at the same time he convinced himself that her way of sleeping was simply disgusting.

Every time he sets his eyes on her, it reminds him of who he was before, the life that was stolen. That kind popular boy who would always lend his handkerchief to crying Diana.

This simple act of kindness from him would leave him with a nagging and jealous girlfriend, but he didn't mind. He just wanted to help. But now all he wants to do is strangle her in her sleep at the thought of what her father did to his family.

It didn't matter if she committed the crime or not, all he wanted was to eradicate the entire bloodline from the Garcia family. He looked on the other side of the bed and saw a pillow.

'I'm sure it'll feel great watching her struggle for breath while I press that pillow on her face' Skylar thought to himself.

He bent over to the other side of the bed without touching her and picked the pillow. He dropped the glass of water that was in his hand, and proceeded to carry out what was in his head. Slowly but surely, the pillow approached Diana's face.

The closer it got, the more determined Skylar became in killing her. He was almost there, when....
