Chapter 5 - Here We Go Again

it was her alright. exactly as his men reported. he had had her followed ever since her session on the floor that day. the information he had got from private investigator had helped him keep tabs on her all this while. with a little persuasion, he brought her to the almost empty park near her office. he had wanted to stay in her office to speak with her but she was afraid people will find out her connection with him. even with those suspicious glances they threw at them when they were leaving, she was sure their gears were turning. trying to find out how they relate.

jordan made herself comfortable on one the benches deeper into the park and he sat by her. she shifts making sure to leave considerable space between them. deacon noticed this too but he couldn't care less. she was still sitting by his side. he didn't just let the matter go when the security forcefully pushed them to the top floor. he got the address of the hospital they took her to and a few days after her visit, went to make his own research. he found out her pregnancy when he accompanied lucille and dana one day to the very same hospital for check up. dana was visiting the dentist.

he happened to pass by the gynecologist's office when he heard a giggling spree. it was blond woman who was on the desk of the doctor probably flirting with him. he had a happy smile on though. but what caught his attention was their conversation and the file in her hand.

"this is your friend's file." the doctor, dr. minton, he saw on the plate on the transparent door , hands over a black file to her. "jordan rivers, right?" that had caught his attention.

"yeah, that's the one." he noticed the woman smile smugly innocent. "i hope she's alright." the tone of her voice and the expression on her face didn't match. it was like it had an undermining meaning to it.

"she will be." the doctor swivels in his chair not minding her position. "if only she doesn't stress herself, for the baby." she hummed. baby? jordan was pregnant? he asked himself aghast. "not to pry, but do you know the father of her child? she really needs him at the moment." the woman looked thoughtful for a while then shook her head. deacon took steps back in shock as if shot by bullets in the chest. it was a month after her collapsing incident. she was pregnant? for him? he heard his name from afar. it was lucille.

as he followed her thoughts just kept flooding his mind. he was going to be a father? from a one night stand? he wasn't even married yet. oh no! he thought to himself. his child was going to be born out of wedlock! but the woman his child was coming from was just hot and… he couldn't let that happen. his child needed him. even the doctor had said she needed him. till this day he hadn't made himself known except for this day and be more happier. only if she reciprocated his feelings

"why are you here, mister?" her tone was curt. "do i know you" he noticed she was trying to play ignorant.

"how about we let your attack do the talking after what happened at varna?" he replies in his own sarcastic way. he knew who she was. her family background, her affiliations with international security agencies due to her achievements in her job and basically everything she did every minute. he didn't have her followed for no reason. she was carrying the heir of varna avionics for christ's sake. he knew she didn't know him or his name but from that appearance at varna that day, he was sure she has a fair idea of his name.

she didn't look into his eyes or want to see his face as she sat staring at the horizon. he knew she remembered him from her attack and the response she gave when he held her close at her work place. as always, she was a sight to sore eyes. he didn't think he could live without her especially with their spicy downtown experience. he wanted to know her more. he was craving for her. maybe they could date then eventually lead to marriage especially with the presence of a child. he was sure she wouldn't refuse. but knowing from his men who guarded her despite the pregnancy, you would still find her at vantage points shooting real live crime. her specialty he gathered.

"what do you want from me?" he wanted her. she still refused to turn. he had the guards do double shifts. some took care of her in the day then in the night, they change. reporting every goddamn hour to him directly. as he had ordered.

"i want my baby-" he paused when he heard her gasped quite audibly. but in jordan's heart, fear was somersaulting in her veins. she was sure she had broken down in sweats. how had he known? she no one in particular. but if her conscience were to be working at that moment, she was sure she would have developed several ways he could have received such confidential information. no one knew yet and she was planning to keep it that way. she wasn't going to let the father spoil her plans. she was well aware of the lurking enemies of hers looking for the slightest opening to attack her but protection from her affiliations and her cautious ways laid them back.

"let's get this straight mister. you didn't know about my pregnancy and i'll like to keep it that way." straight as an iron rod! he liked it. that's how a queen behaves. "besides that how did you get to know? and what makes you think it's yours." jordan's tone was clipped. she was being too curious for his liking.

"how and who i got to know it from is not part of your concern. and i don't need the virgin mary to come down and tell me who and where my baby is." he answered mockingly. according to him, she just didn't know and understand the worth of the fetus in her womb and even her worth to all criminals and security agencies in the world. if she knew, he affirmed, she would do unthinkable things. and the first one was going into hiding which he knew she wouldn't. probably she would come out in the open and dare them to take her down. that he knew would be difficult yet catastrophic for any of them with the power she holds. not to talk of her family power.

jordan stood up from the bench. she didn't want to continue to be in his presence. his cologne alone was causing weird things to happen to her brain cells. she couldn't think straight and always had to take a deep breath to be able to pose her questions in a rigid way. their closeness earlier didn't help. it brought those fluttery feelings to her body, again. she didn't need it at this moment or at this time especially when she had to go and interrogate a highly classified criminal at the correction center downtown. he was to be transferred today to san francisco but they needed some information from him and fbi believed she was the right person to derive it out of him. "i'll take my leave now if you haven't got anything to say to me." as much as she craved his presence, touch, his affections, it wasn't needed right now. at least that's what she thought.

deacon caught her wrist when she took a step to walk away. he felt like he was electrified just by this mere touch. he relished her beauty and fragrance. she was another wonder to behold. "i am sorry." he heard himself say with so much emotion which he identified as regret. indeed he did regret but not what he did that night. no! he regretted leaving her on the floor right in front of his company which she partly owns now when she called to him for help. he regrets not being by her side through this phase called pregnancy.

jordan on the other hand was stunned to the core. this man she had got to know to be ruthless and merciless from a few of her meddling was apologizing to her. but for what? she thought she knew the answer to the question this time. her heart melted at his confession but she didn't need him. he would be nothing but a distraction. she doesn't need distractions at this stage of her life. it was too precious to be spoilt on brat. she forcefully wiggled her hand out of his tight grip then hummed to his statement. but what she doesn't know was that he spoke from deep down his heart and he was pleading to her to get on with him especially for the sake of the child.

"i didn't hide for nothing my dear." his tone was dejected. almost like he was in a silent pain. "i did and do follow you every where you go." jordan turns to face him at this sudden revelation. " and i don't regret that. you and our baby are just too precious to let go. i know my ways are a bit violent and irrational" she scoffs. "but desperate situations call for desperate measures. and i'll do worse if it calls for it."

"thanks for letting me know. i'll do well not to panic." she sasses. "i'm leaving. excuse me"

"wait." he caught her wrist again. "i know what i did after that night was wrong and all but i want to give us a chance. if not for ourselves then for the baby." it looked like he was holding up on his tears. "i know we don't know each other but we can build on that. please just once let me in…"

"goodbye." she stiffened her resolve. she frees her wrist then walk away. she didn't bother going back to the office. rather she boarded the bus straight for downtown. she might as well assess the correction center before beginning her interrogation.

meanwhile deacon stared at her retreating figure. she was everything he needed. his mischievous smile developed into a smirk. she dared reject him? he bursts into laughter. it was maniacal. the whiplash in his emotions could make one run for his life. she didn't know who he was at all. and wasn't planning on letting her know. he wasn't going to give up that easily. he was going to torment her until she gave in, maybe he could enlist the help of her parents or her friend he saw at the hospital. he quietly relaxes back into the bench thinking. he didn't know what he was thinking. thoughts kept flooding in his mind racing at high speed that he couldn't focus on one thing. then his phone rang out of the blue, echoing in the quietness.

"i'm listening." he said putting the phone against his right ear. it was one of his minions.

"mission accomplished, sire." in the course of the phone call, he couldn't help but grin much widely. ships were sailing in his favour. they were successful in the operation he had tasked them as punishment for the complications they came with at the end of their previous one. his day was just becoming better and better every passing hour. knowing that he finally has found his queen, things would be going to be twisty and trickery.

the world should prepare! he locates his car a few minutes walk away from the park towards a nearby convenient french themed café. he couldn't wait to share this news with his mother. and that was where he was heading to. she was going to be elated!

jordan, however, was not in the slightest mood close to being happy. her trip to san francisco was doused in lots of thinking. she kept asking herself why. why did he remember? she thought men usually don't remember their one night stands. why had he come back? and for what? how did he know? and who the hell was he to demand from her?

the security guard at the main entrance scan her card to verify her identity. they allow her entry when they make sure that she was ridded of any metal. the prisoner was waiting for her by the time she got to meet him. it was almost fifty minutes of security process.

she got the shock of her life when the prisoner was a female. and not any other person other than her former partner and accomplice, tokyo kent.

"kon'nichiwa, you two faced bitch." she tilts her lips in an upward curve. she looked too pleased to see her which felt like chill air down her spine. jordan suddenly did not feel safe sitting directly across her.

after all she was the one who placed her very own sister in jail.

...… sighs….. it was going to be a long session.
