Synopsis
(Synopsis coming soon.) This story was created as a school project. It has evolved to become something bigger than what my teachers thought of what I was capable of. This book will be a slow burner and any similarities to a certain popular book series is intentional, but isn't what my book is truly about. I won't treat this book as fanfiction because I haven't personally read the books or watched any of the movies. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– New chapters will be released every 1 to 2 weeks. New chapters might be delayed at times due to multiple reasons, being; the world in my book is vast and hard to put into words at times, mental health breaks, stock piling chapters so I can have more frequent updates, school, and editing. Chapter 1 - The First year: a year of beginnings

The grand dark red meranti doors open, carved with images of heroes of old. Teens wander through the doors in awe. Black marbled floors stretch for what seems to be an eternity. Paintings hung on the walls of those only known by those who can see this world. Halls are filled with what was taught to only be bedtime stories. Birds with four winds, lizards with two heads, wolves bigger than humans, and what seems to be people in robes.

The teens are greeted by those in purple robes who wait for them to wander through. It is only then that the teens realize that not everyone is human. Although something obstructed them from clearly seeing the face of the people wearing the purple robes, they could see that some have strange blade-like ears, others blue skin. For most of the teens, it is their first time seeing the other magical races. Some are weirded out, others are excited.

The halls are filled with wandering eyes of those who are finally going to learn sorcery. Families that are well versed in this sorcery have taught their children some magic, so they would get a head start in classes. Others who entered have never even seen sorcery. They are amazed by the sights of this new world.

One such young sorcerer made his way through the grand carved dark red meranti doors. He can't believe that such a place exists in the world. He is greeted by one of the robed figures. He can't help but stare at their face. He couldn't make out the features of the person's face due to it being blurry.

"That person is covered in tattoos! Are all the teachers tattooed hippies?" he whispered.

The tattooed person giggled at the boy's ignorance. They understand that the boy is new, but his words did sting a little bit.

"Be careful with what you say, young man. I can't guarantee that the other professors will be as forgiving as I am. I'm here to bring you to the main hall so that you can get situated."

The boy froze in place in shock as he watched the tattooed person start to walk away. His mind wandered as his body followed the tattooed person. It took him a while to figure out what exactly happened because he was sure that he didn't mean to whisper those words. He figured that he must have been too excited and accidentally spoke out loud.

It was hard to navigate in the large hall, even with its size. Hundreds of teens combined with those who were already there flooded the hall. The tattooed person stopped for a bit to guide another teen to follow them to the main hall. The boy wondered if there were halls that were bigger than this one.

He continued to look around the hall as he followed along. Other teens were picked up to follow the tattooed person. The boy wondered who the tattooed person was.

"Is this person an escort or something?" the boy thought. He made sure this time that he didn't say these words out loud.

The tattooed person's group eventually found everyone and headed down the hall. It took a while to find everyone and the boy's feet hurt. He didn't want to continue walking but he knew that the main hall must be important. He can't help but imagine flying around and casting powerful spells like sorcerers in the fairy tales that he heard of.

It didn't take long to reach large, dark, wooden doors with amazing carpentry depicting stories of sorcerers. Five sorcerers, all humans, stood timelessly in battle. The ornate carvings on the door preserved the battlefield that the sorcerers stood on. Five different magical beasts stood by the sorcerers. The sorcerers and the beasts face thousands of creatures, some appear more humanoid than others.

The boy couldn't help but be astonished. Nothing he has seen so far can compare to the doors in front of him. The tattooed person told them to wait for a bit by the walls.

"Are you also new to the world of sorcery?"

The boy turned around and saw another boy around his age seemingly waiting for an answer.

"Uh, yeah. I guess so," he answered, unsure of what exactly is happening, but sounding confident.

"It seems like all of us here who followed the tattooed person are new to sorcery. I'm Tomas by the way!" the other bo- Tomas answered.

Tomas was of average height and had white skin. He wore comfortable summer clothing as the academy started later summer. The short messy brown hair was haphazardly brushed to the right side of his head. His blue eyes complemented his soft face.

"I'm Porter. Can you even believe that such a place exists!" Porter smiled.

The two boys chatted away about what they were experiencing while they waited to go into the main hall. The Tattooed man eventually told the children that it was time for them to go into the hall. The children saw the doors open, welcoming them inside.

Porter couldn't wait to leave his old life behind and smiled brightly at this new opportunity.
