Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Valeria was really stressed out as she accelerated her car while breaking as many traffic rules as possible.

She had to reach the hospital as soon as possible or else the man was going to die.

She had already called the hospital so they must have been prepared.

When she got there the man was placed on the bed and the ward boys took him to the operation theater.

She knew that the man was beyond saving but it didn't hurt to try.

Her conscience would never allow her to be at peace had she left him for the dead.

" Does he stand a chance?" she asked a nurse. " Sorry maam but I would advice you to start preparing for his last rites because your husband surviving is close to impossible" the nurse replied.

Husband? Did she just call him her husband? For heaven's sake she didn't even know what the guys name was.

However she just nodded and didn't argue with the nurse.

Anyway what would she have said then. That he was a random stranger she saved from dying like a street dog?

It wouldn't be logical but she knew it was the truth. Now she had a burden of someone she knew nothing about.

Based on his injuries even the doctors were certain that he was on his bed. He was suffering very much.

Had it been up to them they would have been generous and done him a mercy killing. However he was not in a condition to give his consent.

The only thing they could do was tend to his wounds as he slowly bled until his veins were completely dry and he was no more.

Infact they were even surprised at how he had managed to stay alive for such a long time.

With five stabs and three bullet holes he should have died an hour ago. However at that point not even a miracle could heal him.

They did their best but he still couldn't make it. He still died.

They pitied him for having died such a painful death but that was all they could do.

They informed the morgue to sent someone to come and take the body.

" We are sorry maam but there was nothing more we could do. We tried our level best " the doctor said apologetically.

Valeria watched as the body was taken out wrapped in a white cloth. She had failed to save a life and she felt bad because of it.

Now all she was left with was a burden of burying a stranger's corpse.

She suddenly noticed a movement on the white clothe. " He moved " she yelled.

The doctor looked at her as if she was insane. " I think you are mistaken " he said softly.

He was in for a shock when he saw the corpse struggling as if been suffocated.

" Quickly back to the operation theater " he bellowed.

They unwrapped the body and rushed back to the operation theater.

How on Earth was this even possible? It had never happened before. They had never misjudged someone to be dead before.

His pulse and breathing had halted completely when they wrapped him up.

They were extremely terrified because if such news were to leak then their hospital would be defamed.

They immediately added water and glucose into his body.

The man had regained breathing but his heartbeat was extremely slow. He was no longer bleeding since his body didn't have even a drop of blood.

He was a total mystery but they left him after doing all that they could as doctors.

Though he was still alive they had no hope with him surviving.

" Please forgive us for the error we just made. I hope that you don't sue us " the doctor pleaded.

" I am not interested in defaming you. All that matters is that he survives this " Valeria yelled.

" May I see him " she begged. The doctor was adamant at first but after many pleading he finally gave in.

She went inside and found him lying lifeless on the bed.

The only sign of life in him was his expanding and contracting chest.

This hospital had the best doctors in the country so it was not possible for them to make an error in declaring him dead.

The only explanation she could find was that he had come back to life in one way or another.

She placed her hand on his chest and felt a little faint heartbeat. She waited but didn't feel anything else.

Even his chest stopped moving up and down. ' Has he died again' she thought.

She was about to call the doctors when she heard the movement of an accelerating heartbeat.

She looked back at the man and he took a deep breath. She placed her hand on his chest again and she could feel his heart pounding hard against his chest as if threatening to break free.

She was startled when he suddenly woke up as if he had just had a nightmare.

She found herself staring at a pair of eyes that were glowing in lilac with a shed of red.

She covered her face with her hands and slowly removed her hands.

His eyes were extremely dark. ' Was I imagining things' she thought.

She was puzzled because she was certain that she had seen his eyes glow in a lilac colour.

The man stared at her coldly. " Where am I ?" he asked.

" And who are you?" anger was visible in his eyes.
