Chapter 35 - CHAPTER 35: The Basement

As soon as they went inside the house, from ceiling to floor, everything was so ordinary that you could hardly think of any hidden agenda in it. Ashley went ahead and removed a frame with a picture full of flowers in a field hanging on the wall.

The moment she removed the frame, the staircase began to gather ascending till the very last step of the second floor leaving a small dark space between the wall and the railing supporting the staircase. Ashley and her team each took a lamp with them while leading Hans and the two teams inside the dark tunnel-like space. The pitch-black tunnel took about 30 minutes to reach the said abandoned laboratory.

After they reached the end side of the tunnel, a huge abandoned building welcomed them in horror. The scenery surrounding the building was filled with beautiful scenic views. Yet, they could hardly ignore the horrid building made some gulped and shivered in fear.

Hans with no consternation, initiated in entering the said laboratory and everyone followed while finding comfort against each other or while holding each other hand in hand to remove their perplexed countenance.

The two teams separated their ways as Jasper and his team were guided by the spy-SA and new agents to different lab rooms where the Forbidden Venom was conducted. While Hans, Head Kelly, and her team were guided by Ashley and the rest spy agents.

Ashley led them to a shadier area of the building that new hunters in the medical team almost disagreed to enter, however, they fear Head Kelly more than their own fear. Hans quite had a clue as to where Ashley was taking them, the basement.

They passed by every room until they reached the entrance door of the basement. Before they could even enter, Ashley made a sudden exclamation that caused everyone to jolt.

"Announcement! If you ever wish to live to see the sun rise tomorrow, I advise that you leave the premises as soon as possible or better yet, never come back. For you are about to witness a macabre in this room. Teehee!"

She reminded monotonously as she intertwined her eyebrows and held her index finger up. And upon hearing her announcement, the medical team internally screamed in horror while others paled and were unable to utter any words out of their mouth.

Others even checked to see what the spy agents' reactions would be but then regretted when they saw them all hold their mouths to keep themselves from vomiting. And some paled as their souls evaporated while a few of the medical team tried to restrain the souls from escaping.

Hans just stared at them blankly while Head Kelly clapped in amusement because of the sight she's seeing, right now.

"Ashley, enough." Hans warned her.

"Okay, okay~ Just kidding, everybody. Although, I wasn't lying."

Ashley pretended to accidentally blurted it out causing the whole medical team to pale more and more as their souls escaped through their mouths while the spy team was still holding their mouth from vomiting.

The moment Ashley twisted the doorknob and slightly unlocked the door, an odious and nasty fragrance spread like wildfire that many gasped and covered their noses filled with disgust.

When the door was wide open most of the hunters screamed and puked upon seeing the widespread smell of the rotten bodies piling up like a mini-pyramid. Hardly, anyone would notice the faces of the dead bodies with so much blood and wounds covering them.

Head Kelly, without missing a beat, immediately assessed the situation by checking the bodies. Some took in different forms that are hardly recognized which caused her to feel a sudden confusion.

"What is this?" she questioned.

"Don't tell me, they're trying to test the Forbidden Venom through these victims?"

Hans questioned not only himself but to both Head Kelly and Ashley, as well.

"H-hey... Aren't they doing this too hastily?" Head Kelly gave an annoyed and horrified look.

"Believe it or not, it seems that every single one of them hasn't survived from the impact caused by the Forbidden Venom." Ashley clenched the torched to refrain from her anger.

"With how their veins become this visible. It clearly is the Forbidden Venom's work." Hans confirmed as he touched the veins in one of the dead bodies.

Hans seemed to notice something in one of the dead body's chests. He was about to reach it but suddenly, a spy agent came to inform them that the ambulance sent by Dir. Melvis has arrived. Head Kelly began to assess the teams in carrying the dead bodies for autopsy.

'It was a good thing that he immediately called his master for an ambulance. To think that it took them this much body just for that sickening Forbidden Venom.'

Head Kelly thought as she clenched her jaw being unable to hide the hint of anger wailing up inside her.

'Just what were they thinking?' she added.

In the midst of unpleasantness, many refined themselves in deepening their sense of disgust towards the unfortunate experiments. Hans took the time to examine thoroughly on one of the bodies then he noticed a hole in his chest as if the things inside it were gone or destroyed.

Hans then began to look at others and one thing for sure that he knows about. They all had the same hole embedded in their chest. He wondered what could possibly be inside that undefined hole. However, before he could search for clues, one of his agents under him arrived with more medical team members.

"Sir Baron, the director sent us here as per request."

"Good. Take these bodies out of here. Head Kelly wants to examine them further." Hans instructed as he placed his hands in his pocket.

"Yes, sir."

"Also, tell Jasper that I want all the Forbidden Venom experiments out of this place. I need to do some research about it."

Head Kelly added which the hunter nodded and bowed in response then left Hans and the Head to instruct the others.

Hans and Head Kelly immediately left the basement leaving Ashley as the head in command to guide the agents. Along the trail of silence, Hans couldn't anymore ignore the awry yet petrifying atmosphere Head Kelly is currently displaying as they travel through the tunnel alone.

"Head Kelly?"

"What is it?" the Head smiled as if nothing happened.

Hans gave it some thought whether he asked her if she was alright but decided to brush it off, "Nothing."

They continued walking while the so-called undercover peace denied the sinisterness of this place. Every minute the time passed, they finally reached the end of the tunnel and went out of the ordinary house. Luckily, some of the agents found a shortcut from the house till the abandoned laboratory which made it easier for them to move the dead bodies and Forbidden Venom to the automobile.

During the transportation of the hunters, the enemy cautiously watched them doing their jobs. All five of them were too covered by the darkness of the forest that one could barely see the silhouette from them.

"Aww man... We're too late!" The enemy's silhouette was a thin figure as he joyfully exclaimed.

"This wouldn't have happened if the twins listened and followed our orders." A slender woman with a calm yet threatening tone complaint.

"But we were so tired from traveling barefoot." the younger twin defended.

"Why couldn't we just take rides like them?" the older twin questioningly complained.

The woman sighed desperately and frustratingly explained.

"How many times do I have to explain it to you? We can't because the Master wants us to be as unrecognized as possible. And even if we did, many will just be scared of us with how we look."

"Bwa-ha-ha-ha... You guys are hopeless. Scary or not, we're nothing without our Master." The thin figured man laughed eerily.

"Enough, all of you. If you want to live to see tomorrow, then shut your mouths." a middle-aged man blankly said with a calm voice.

"Yeah, yeah. We get it." the twin replied while emphasizing their bored tone.

"So? What are we going to do about this?" the slender woman questioned.

"Kill them?" the thin figure along with the twins questioned in unison.

"No. Master said not to go head-to-head with them. Let's just leave them as it is." the middle-aged man instructed.

"Eh? Then, what am I supposed to do with this?"

The thin figured man confusingly showed a small remote with a red button at the center.

The hunters continued the last two transportation of the bodies but before they could even put it inside the ambulance, out of nowhere, a sudden explosion began. Because of the explosion, some of the hunters screamed in fear.

Although it started with the abandoned laboratory, it couldn't ignore the surroundings that it started to scatter more than they expected till it brought forth to the ordinary house. The hunters began to evacuate and slowly the animals living in the forest began to evacuate as well.

Jasper held Hans's wrist as he forcibly pulled him out of the place, "Hans, let's go!"

Hans followed him but immediately stopped when he heard voices coming from the house. He shoved Jasper's hand and went a little closer to the house. And when he got a good view, he saw two medical hunters coughing because of the smoke created by the fire while carrying the dead body.

He was about to head towards them in order to save them but Jasper managed to get ahold of him.

"What are you doing?!"

"There are still hunters inside." Hans explained.

"Help!" one of the couples exclaimed as she coughed.

"Please, help us!"

And the other did the same while he tried to cover his partner's nose with a wet towel.

"We've got to save them."

He made a turn but Jasper made Hans face him, "You're not going anywhere."

Jasper, without skipping a beat, pulled Hans and shoved him inside the car. Hans was about to protest by his aggressiveness. However, the young master silenced him by saying.

"Stay here."

The young master closed the car and went back to where the endangered medical hunters were. As he got nearer to the house, he saw Ashley trying to assess the situation by calling his master that they were in need of firefighters.

"Are the hunters still there?" Jasper asked.

"Unfortunately, yes. We need to do something with the fire before they..." Ashley frustratingly reported.

"I'll go." Jasper said without hesitation.

The couple inside the house voiced out their help but as the time passed by their throats started to hurt that they were unable to utter with strength. As they were on the verge of collapsing, the dead body, which was about six feet tall, suddenly awoke and slowly stood up from the trauma/spinal board.

The moment the weakened couple saw the dead body revived from the underworld, the first thing that came into their mind was death. Being doomed to death made them shiver in fear and upon seeing his eyes turned red while baring its fangs like a vampire. And in spite of their nearing to unconscious state, they noticed the revived body slowly grew claws and fur like lycans as it drooled and growled revealing its sharp teeth turning into a horrendous beast.

The couple held hands as they covered their fear with a sigh of relief and closed their eyes as if they waited for death to devour them. But what they didn't expect was that the so-called horrendous beast would be the cause for their salvation.

The beast caught them with their shirts and ran through the raging fire while the woods supporting the house banged on the floor one by one. As they reached closer to the entrance, the medical couple began to rest their eyes into unconsciousness.

Jasper was about to run toward the house to save the two hunters but before he could do so. Out of thin air, the two unconscious couples were tossed out of the house. Luckily, Ashley and Jasper were there to catch them in time. The confused hunters wondered who could have managed to save them with such wildfire surrounding them.

They both looked at the house and saw a six feet tall figure standing there as it stared at them horrendously while growling. The agents surrounded the young master and Head Akito's apprentice then they all looked at the house with the beast standing at the main entrance. They were about to launch an attack to the beast that made Jasper yell at them.

"Stop it, you idiots!"

Before the other agents engaged an attack toward the horrendous beast, the house collapsed along with the beast. Taking its very last breath, everyone just looked at the collapsed house being devoured by the fire.

Some of the medical team began giving first aid to the other agents and animals who got hurt from the sudden explosion under Head Kelly's command while waiting for the fire fighters to arrive. After Ashley and Jasper made sure the unconscious couple were safe, they immediately went to the car where Hans was.

Jasper opened the door to check on Hans, the two hunters saw him starting to get paler than he already is as he watched his hands tremble violently. Ashley immediately grabbed his hands to chase away its coldness and called the young master's name.

"Hey, Jasper?"

"Yeah?"

"Can you take the heating pads inside my emergency kit?" she instructed.

"Sure."

Jasper calmly replied and quickly took the heating pad and he handed it to her. Ashley gladly accepted it and hurriedly placed it in between Hans hands as she covered his hands with hers.

They both stared at the fragile human breathing aggressively with perplexed emotion embedded on their faces.
