'The beast chose me in the end.'
With nowhere to hide, Orien prepared himself for death. He stood there, waiting for the centaur to approach. Their eyes met and Orien didn't waiver against the oppressive force in front of him.
" You're not going to run?' the beast said with a deep voice.
" I have nowhere to go. Even If I die here, I can live on earth. Let's get this over with."
Orien charged at the massive centaur, who stood in place.
" Stop!"
' My body won't move.' Orien's body heeded the centaur's command involuntarily. The centaur looked at the boy shivering in fear in front of him with a smile.
" You passed."
" I passed? How?"
" This wasn't a survival test per see. It was a teaching lesson. This was an introduction to this world and how people reacted. Still, you passed for being the sole survivor. You failed because your passiveness got the other group killed. Your eyes can sense danger and give you ways to get out of it. Instead of leading, you backed down to a man governed by his emotions, and his group suffered for it. That is your lesson. "
" How is it my fault that they chose him over me? I'm not responsible for their lives."
" We'll see how far you go with that mindset."
The centaur raised his ax and struck the ground. A magic circle spread below Orien and he was transported back to the room he first arrived in. He was surprised when he saw all the participants of the test alive. Upon his arrival, he was the center of attention.
" We should've followed you instead of listening to Mr. Alpha male over there," Ella said as she approached Orien with Alexander.
The trio were talking about what happened during the test when Ian walked toward the podium.
" You've all been briefed on what the test was about. From this point on, your lives are yours alone. I'll give you all some information about this planet. This world's technology isn't like earths. There's no phones or Wi-Fi but there are communication devices. There are no cars, but there are carriages. Capitalism here is a lot harsher than your worlds. The currency is a lot different also. This worlds currency can be broken down into four separate categories; Nyehic, Kees, Somishi, and crowns.
Ian shows the group four different coins with Nyehic being the smallest and crowns being the largest.
" One kees is 214 Nyehic's. One somishi is 20 Kees, and 400 Kees is one crown. You all will receive 280 kees. This is enough for a shabby home. You don't have to buy one of course. With that being said, feel free to leave or ask questions at any time. There should be a carriage coming to take people to the nearest inn. "
The participants began to chat with each other about their plans after leaving the room. Some left immediately after the conversation was done. Orien was about to walk out the door when Ella stopped him.
" So, what are you doing? Me and Alexander are gonna buy a home with Melissa and James. You should come with us," she said.
Orien looked at James beside her. His face has no emotion, but Orien's eyes could see anger in his aura.
" I'll just stay at an inn, but thanks for the offer."
Orien walked away from the couple and headed toward Ian.
' I wonder how money is made on this planet.'
" Excuse me Mister Ian. Can I ask a question?"
" Go ahead."
" How do we earn money besides regular jobs and does everyone on this planet have powers?"
" Everyone does not have powers on this planet. Those unfortunate enough to be born that way are doomed to either mediocrity or poverty. Those who do have powers are called " The awakened." They protect Angatania from outside invaders, monsters, and devils. The awakened earn money through completing and closing dungeons and portals. They earn more by bringing out magic crystals, monsters' bodies, and other valuables from those places. Any more questions?
' This a world full of magic. There must be something I can do about my arm.' he thought
" Is there something I can do about my arm? Please tell me all the options," he said sincerely while bowing toward Ian.
" Of course, there is. I'm just not sure how many options exist for your profession. One guaranteed fix is the dwarfs. They can create an arm easily. It'll cost you though. Just ask one of the carriage drivers to bring you to them."
Orien happiness couldn't be hidden. A wide smile crossed his face as he thanked Ian once more before exiting the room.
' My new life begins here.'
