"Pathetic?" Why did I think of that?
"I see that you tried protecting the child, but do you know that that child is affiliated with the slave dealers?" The man said.
Seeing a gold hair is a first for me, I am sure of that, none of the villagers had such color for their hair, how come it's not as striking as the first time I set foot into the capital? The man in front of me and the child is tall and slender, unlike my father, he's build looks strong with his wide shoulders and a huge scabbard dangling on his waist and his white coat gilded with gold embroidery made him stand out in such a barren-looking place. I was lost in thought when the man repeated what he said.
" Uh- my lady? are you hurt? if you don't mind, would you be willing to tell me if you are aware that this child is affiliated with the slave dealers? "
" No, I am not thank you for asking, also I am not aware about any of that but what I do know is that this scrawny child is just a victim " Uriel muttered
" But no matter how brave or how much you want to help the child, you should've looked out for yourself and know your limitations" the man said
You think I don't know that?
No, what? He was just looking out for me, why would I think of such thoughts
" I agree, it was indeed a bold move, it was just that the child, I didn't want him to get hurt "
Right, this child is pitiful, just what kind of horrendous things has he gone through? His bones that is making their presence prominent and the unkempt hair on the child's head ...
"How I wish I could help him but we can barely... " did I really say that out loud? I've never done that before.
" If it would put you at ease, we can have him place in an orphanage managed by the prince so that he'll be fed properly " the man said
Surprised and confused by what the man had said, I looked up, I can't feel my face but the look on the man's face was something I'd never seen before.
******
Uriel bent her eyes and smiled the most sincere smile the prince had ever seen. It was a face he never expected to see in such a place. Her warm chocolate hair waved as the wind blew. An eye color that he's never seen before, a bravery he's never witnessed and such kindness he never felt. The girl is the new person he never knew he'd meet.
With his face heating up and heart thumping to the beat of the dripping water behind him, he looked at the happily grinning Uriel. Oh what a lovely thing.
Just like what has been predetermined, Uriel's life finally begins to take a new step.
