"I need to get back, but I wanted to make sure you were in good hands before leaving," Mike explained going over and sitting down on the edge of the bed. "Ember"
"It's okay, Uncle Mike," Ember interjected her eyes shifting over his face. "I know that you've done what you thought was right for me, to protect me."
"Never doubt that, baby girl." Mike leaned down to kiss her forehead his voice tender. "Right now, you heal and let these people look after you. I'll call you once I get back home."
"Make sure you do," Ember slurred her eyes closing.
Mike smiled nodding his head. "I will, and if I don't see you again, remember that I love you as if you were my daughter."
He gave her another kiss on the forehead and then got up from the bed heading for the door when it opened by Cacy.
"She's sleeping," Mike remarked stepping to the side, so she could see the bed.
