Rowan
I made sure to stay as silent as possible while tip toeing over to her. The breeze had her hair flowing gracefully, and it seemed as though she was wearing her nightgown, as I, standing behind her, could see sheer white sleeves and a loose dress.
"Friend or foe?" She said, seemingly to the open air before her. I froze, had she heard me?
"You gravely overestimate your sneaking skills." She said, way too calmly. As though she was used to being sneaked up upon.
"Would 'mate' suffice?" I asked. She immediately stood up, bowing.
"Apologies, alpha." She said hurriedly. I heard her take a deep and slow breath before making eye contact. Her golden eyes were flickering to red and back quickly, and I felt her body tense, either in fear, or preparing for battle. I wasn't sure which one was worse.
"I still need to know. Friend, or foe?" I thought over my choice of words for a moment before replying:
"Friend, for now. But, eventually I will want... more. I won't claim to be a patient male, at least not in front of my fated mate." I kissed a section of her long fiery hair. She seemed to let out the breath she'd been holding. She held eye contact as she closed the distance between us.
"Thank you." She said, going up on her tip toes to kiss me on the forehead. Her lips were soft to my skin, and as she smiled at me my heartbeat was going haywire. F__, she had a nice smile. Before I realized it I was grinning back at her.
"I... I'll do my best to be a luna you will be proud of, I will study current time clothes, politics and business functions, Since it's been half a millennia. But... I-I might need some time before... children." I hadn't even thought that far ahead.
"I have a feeling you'll do well, but children, as precious as they are, the kingdom and my power aren't nearly stable enough for me to ensure you and them safety. One day, perhaps, we could discuss it when the kingdom is steady and safe." My answer seemed to reassure her.
"There's... one more thing. You should know before you accept me as your partner, I- I am not pure."
Oh. Normally I wouldn't care, but for some reason, the thought of another male touching her made my skin crawl in anger.
"You had a boyfriend?" She wouldn't make eye contact.
"No, never, I- husband." Husband. My blood boiled and I clenched my fists. Until Azariah pointed out that her husband had never been her boyfriend.
"Why?" I asked, loosening my fists. More sad than angry now. She finally made eye contact.
"He claimed we were mates." Somehow the words struck me like a fist to the gut. But somehow her actions started to make sense. The fear she emitted was directed to me, for she was scared of him.
"I don't know about now, but back then it was seen as an insult to the Moon goddess to reject your fated bond, and thanks to his power and influence I didn't have a say in it. It lasted for twenty years." I clenched my jaw, but pulled her to my chest in an embrace. Then I felt her shaking, but for the first time it wasn't from fear. She hugged me back as she cried. As I stood there I realized tears fell from my eyes as well, they were not mine, but hers. Mate.
Nymeria
I fell asleep that night easier than I had for millennia. Something deep inside of me told me I was safe.
The next morning when I woke up I went over to section C to find and steal Emyra. I needed to study the workings of this time. On my way there however, I bumped into the head maid of section C.
"Nymeria! Where have you been the last few days?? I don't know about your time, but nowadays people have to show up to work in order to keep it." I swallowed, I had grown really bad with confrontation.
"Careful Lana. The luna has her reasons." I wasn't to be called luna yet. I hadn't been marked, but I didn't mind the faulty title as Amy came to my side. The head maid mumbled a row of words I didn't quite understand, though some of them seemed poop related. I nodded thankfully to Amy as the head maid turned on her heels and walked away.
"Rumors are going to be flying around. Might want to hurry up the mating process."
"Noted." I told her. Currently her rank was miles higher than mine.
"So, what are you doing in C-sec?"
"Oh, apologies if this is a restricted space. I just wanted to ask Emyra about a few things."
"No, by all means, I'm just curious. Emyra is probably busy working right now, but if you want I'll answer any question you have."
"Oh, you're probably correct. Well, I've been planning on studying current time culture and politics. Could you... help me with this?" Amy seemed to think about it before saying:
"Sure, I can help you with general culture, but as a human I am not confident in my werewolf culture skills. I can, however, ask Seth to teach you about that and politics."
"Thank you. Who is Seth?"
"Sorry, I should have told you, Seth is my mate and husband, The beta." Aah. I had seen him yesterday, the almond haired male next to my... mate.
"I am very thankful. Please come to me when you find time." She smiled at me.
"Will do." She said, and I turned to go back to my chambers.
