Chapter 11 - Going with Gut

Nicolov tried to look at what his daughter-in-law is pointing at, he could find rashes behind his son's neck.

"Impossible… Kieran is trained to fight any animal. He can tackle any wild animal" Ayda who was grieving for her son spoke.

Others in the room just stood in silence.

"What if it's not just an animal?" Melanie quizzed checking her husband's corpse.

She is trained under the medical experts in her Royal Palace, she is exceptionally skilled in the Ayurveda medicines that originate from the East. She made sure, she gets every possible information on medicine, her hand is considered a good luck charm, her presence was counted good omen, but seems like destiny had other plans when it came to her marital life.

"Call the medic, we need to find out the reason for his death" Melanie roared.

The guards looked at King Nicolov.

"What are you waiting for?" roared Melanie.

The Kingdom only knew women sticking to the kitchen or being courtesans, never did they hear Queen Ayda ordering them about anything. Except for the personal guards allowed inside the Royal Castle, no one even knew how their Queen looked.

Hearing the newlywed Princess scream orders to them, at the hour when she should maintain utter calm and weep standing in a corner at her loss, Melanie choose to put her immense talent to work and that's something the Kingdom of Krosesia never knew.

"Queen Ayda.. can you" the King looked at his wife to alert their daughter-in-law.

"Melanie dear, please calm down" Ayda was quick to follow her husband's orders.

"Queen, my husband is lying dead, and it is clear that his death is not natural, and instead of trying to find what the reason for his death is you are asking me to calm down, how can you?" roared Melanie.

Not just Queen Ayda, but every person present in the room was stunned hearing Princess Melanie.

"Such audacity" one of the helpers chirped to the other.

"She didn't even weep" one more added.

Though Melanie didn't even lend her ear to those, Queen Ayda who has to save their pride no matter what tried to calm down her daughter-in-law.

"His Highness will see the matter, you please have a hold over your emotions, dear" Queen Ayda tried to be as much as polite as possible, though deep down she just wanted Melanie to shut up.

'Is he even her blood?' was the only thought Melanie could get.

"He is my husband, being his legally wedded wife and the Princess to this Royal Throne of Krosesia, I command respect and full rights over the matter. I need to know the reason behind my husband's sudden death" Melanie was fierce as she spoke.

"Princess…"

"Your Highness, first will you call for the physicians?" roared Melanie.

Alpha Alexander, the 27 year old is next in line to be Crowned as the Royal King for the Werewolf Kingdom. Once he gets coronated he will be handling the affairs of 9.7 billion werewolves with hundreds of ethnicities under his scrutiny. Their wellness and prosperity falls under the primary responsibility of Alexander, who won't be the only Royal King of Werewolves but also the loyal servant of the throne.

Guards securing King Emerson's Chambers announced Alexander's arrival to Emerson. Receiving a positive nod, they opened doors for Alexander.

"Long Live My Lord" Alexander bowed.

"How many times do I have to refrain you from calling me My Lord when we are in private. The labels are just for the Royal Court, I am always your Father" Emerson patted Alexander warmly.

"Any particular reason you wanted me at this hour?" Alexander quizzed skeptical. It's past his father's regular sleeping time.

"Will you please read that?" Emerson pointed at the red shiny box. Opening the box Alexander found a scroll invitation, unfolding the invitation Alexander's eyes fixated on the beautiful calligraphy printed in Golden colour.

"King Gabriel Ⅲ and Queen Lucia cordially invites you for annual celebrations of our Kingdom, The Great Trenesia's formation. The Kingdom awaits your presence"

Regards King Gabriel Ⅲ

"What is with this sudden invitation? I think it's in our previous century we had some sort of relation with humans, now all we face is wars and threats then how come we received an invitation for the annual celebrations of their Kingdom's formation? That's a prestigious event for them, what makes them invite the Werewolves they despise?" Alexander quizzed her father.

"Reasons are unknown, I would love to see you attending the celebration. King Gabriel is one of the most powerful emperor's guarding humans and good friendship with him might help things work in our favour. Maybe a good bond between you both will help in mending the strained relations between humans and Werewolves" Emerson spoke, his words very clear and authoritative voice gave in that he wanted this to happen at any cost.

"As you say Father" Alexander accepted.

"Get our troops ready, be well prepared for anything" Emerson asserted.

Nodding his head Alexander made a mental note about the wolves he will be tagging along.

"Why am I feeling so restless? What is messing me up?" Alexander can't help but question his restless mind giving him all negative thoughts.

Walking towards the Practice area reserved for Beta's and other Wolves, Alexander went behind a tree. Shedding his clothes he shifted in his Wolf form, it was a painful experience to him at the start with time he got adjusted to that.

Alexander's personality when he is human form to when he gets into his real wolf form are poles apart. He is dominant, aggressive and maniac as a wolf. Once his huge golden wolf form walked to the centre, all other gazes lowered.

His silver eyes scrutinized as all the wolves assembled in the line, his rough paws crunching the ground beneath, he howled catching attention and turned to his most trusted Beta Alith.

Alexander howled at Alith and he got what he master wanted in minutes.

Alith sprang into the business and quickly picked the best in their wolves to accompany Alexander to the human territory. Growling loudly Alexander instructed the thirty warriors his beta picked. Diving them into five troops, he assigned them basic roles.

Once done with the instruction all the wolves yelped a howl of respect, turning his paws Alexander made his way to chambers. He wanted to run, he wanted to go out into the forest. His Alpha feels discomfort being in the human skin, it suffocates him.

"Son, can I come in" hearing his mother knock his door Alexander came back to his human farm, putting on his clothes Alexander opened the door.

"All okay Mother? What brought you here at the late hours? Anything troubling you?" worry evident in Alexander's voice.
