Chapter 19 - Ashes II

For dozens of meters, everything was destroyed. Trees toppled over, the earth flipped on itself, and the land scorched with fire.

And in the middle of it all was a picturesque sight.

A female warrior was wearing armor clearly crafted by someone who mastered their craft. A white armor lined and edged with gold. She held a sword with a handle oddly bigger than the norm at 40 centimeters than 20 to 23 centimeters. It looked odd, but the sword in a beast's skull three times bigger than her was proof of her skills and mastery.

Her breathing, disconcerted after the right, but with a twist of but, with a twist of her sword, she took the beast's head and claimed victory, and the ethereal wing on her back slowly disappeared.

Lifting her winged helmet, what was shown underneath was a beautiful face with sharp eyes. She jumped down from the monster's back and with a smile, the warrior stabbed the sword that was as tall as her on the ground. She looked at the beast she hunted and smiled, "With this, I'd be able to kill the Death Knight."

After a fight that lasted for almost an hour, the female warrior had achieved her goal of slaying the beast second only to the Mountain's true Ruler - the Death Knight.

[Dreadnaught Rook Lv. 650]

The Dreadnaught Rook was a menace with a body bigger than five meters, its skin-colored bronze and stronger than a Knight's armor, and strength capable of crushing hills.

It was not just a beast of pure physical strength, however. It was also smart enough to use magic and was immune to low-level spells. It escapes when it notices it is at a disadvantage and enters a rage state when it gets cornered, raising its strength in exchange for its sanity.

Despite all this, the female warrior accomplished by slaying the beast. Only her father had done such a thing in the past. To repeat his achievement was something she was very proud of.

The lady had set her eyes on hunting it more than twenty-five years ago, and now she'd achieved it.

"After so long, I've finally taken a step forward." The female warrior's eyes burned with a brilliant red blaze upon slaying the beast, "With this, I should be able to slay the accursed Death Knight."

The female warrior decided that it was time for her to collect her prize, but her knees suddenly gave out as she got up. Her strength vanished, and she fell to the ground, her mind becoming hazy, "Huh?"

She was confused, and then she heard something dripping. From the side of her armor, she saw blood coming out from the waist. She had lost too much blood.

She was already fatigued from the fight against the Dreadnaught Rook, and then, from the shadows, she saw eyes glowing an ominous red. Eleven wolves with black furs, blood-red eyes, and sharp claws. Their maws curved up into mocking smiles.

[Dreadwolves Lv. 250]

"These… sly bastards. They were hiding from the beginning."

When the female warrior was fighting against the Dreadnaught, she had already felt that some creatures were hiding in the shadows. She thought they were curious beasts and had been scared of them as she did not feel anything after the first clash.

However, these Dreadwolves actually chose to stay hidden. Dreadwolves, there were many of them in the Middle-Area of the Mountains. They hunted in packs, bringing down stronger targets by whittling their strength.

Dreadwolves were smart, proven by how they cornered someone almost doubled the pack's average level. The female warrior reached out for her sword, but she had lost too much blood and fell. The female warrior gritted her teeth.

She was about to die against a beast who shouldn't hold a candle against her.

"You must be careful about conserving your mana and stamina. You don't know when an ambush will come. What to do when you're on your last leg, then? Well, you must tightly hold your weapon and get back up. A Knight does not falter; we do not tire, we do not fall. Because when we do, those who rely on our protection suffer." The female warrior remembered the teachings of her father.

The female warrior chuckled, "Father will be disappointed in me if he sees me like this. I am a Knight, and when I need to, I grit my teeth in the face of impossible odds and draw out a miracle!"

Grabbing her sword tightly, a bright light shot up the skies. The air changed, and blood escaped her mouth. Her heart was ready to fight once again. The two-meter sword was lifted off the ground and raised against the Dreadwolves.

Not allowing their trapped prey to bear her fangs,

The sword's base glowed with ancient runes, and the female warrior roared, "Take Flight! Holy Wing Radian-"

BOOM!

The female warrior's words were cut off as a human figure landed right on top of two of the Dreadwolves, crushing their heads. The female warrior looked at the human that was a little taller than her and saw his level increase three times.

[Level up!][Level up!][Level up!]

[Lv. 158 -> 161]

The man looked back at her and said, "You can rest now."

The female warrior could see the big difference in the level of the Dreawolves and the man. But, for some reason, looking at his back, she felt confident that he could do it on his own. That, against nine Dreadwolves, the man would triumph.

That, or she was just happy she could finally rest. But, the female warrior did not care. Instead, she walked forward, saying, "Thay are... mine." before collapsing the very next second.

The man ignored her and looked forward to the Dreadwolves.

This man was obviously Isaac. He saw the female warrior subjugate a beast and wanted to ask her about the wings and where to get them when the wolves arrived.

Without a moment's hesitation, he flew up high with his Thunder Wings and then changed his equipment to his greaves.

With immense weight, Isaac crushed two of the Dreadwolves.

Nine remained, and they pounced at him the next second they got, and with a tap of his foot, Isaac used their speed against them as he summoned seven earth spikes, killing three of them.

Six remaining, and with a smile on his face, Isaac created a wall of Earth around the female warrior as he whispered.

"[Conqueror of Lightning and Thunder]" his hair changed to light purple as his body was lacerated with lightning, "Let's get this over with quickly. I want to study that woman's entire being."
