Chapter 16 - A Friendly

"What were you doing so injured in the middle of the Forest? Did you encounter a strong beast? This is not a place for someone at your level. You're lucky to have wandered into my territory." the Death Knight asked Isaac hanging over its shoulder.

Isaac just laughed wryly, "Me and my frie… companions were using a Forbidden Teleportation Spell to escape a dire situation. We didn't have any proper destination, and we were separated halfway through. I'm lucky enough to reach this forest without ."

The Death Knight laughed aloud and continued carrying Isaac deeper into the forest. Before long, Isaac arrived at a cabin.

The cabin was beautifully crafted; it was rather big but not too much that it made it look too luxurious. The Cabin in the woods could easily be presumed as the Death Knight's.

"Nice place." praised Isaac.

"Thank you, I made it myself." The Death Knight responded.

"Oh, please don't take me inside. I heal faster when I am close to nature." Isaac praised as he was made to sit on a chair just outside the cabin near the door.

"Okay, for now, stay here. I'll take some medicine I made." The Death Knight left and then peeked outside one more time, "Oh, are you divine in nature? Extreme Magical Resistance? If so, I cannot apply my ointments."

"Anything is fine," Isaac answered, and the Death Knight went inside to rummage through his things.

Alone outside, Isaac looked at the orange skies. He could feel his body regain its strength, but he was far from reaching his peak, 'I took too much damage, and my right arm is now cursed.'

He couldn't entirely heal his right arm, only stopping it from getting worst. Isaac could feel a sharp reaction from his right arm; he just didn't know what it was, 'I need to find the Fire Giants. I don't know much about the Sword of Embers, so I need to find it and see if I regain my arm.'

His body was trying its best to regenerate, but the arm still refused. It was pretty ridiculous, 'But anyway, what is this place anyway?'

Now that Isaac got a chance to see what's around, he noticed the Forest was actually glowing with vitality. The area was teeming with life. The leaves were practically glowing with evergreen light.

There were little to no beasts around. Isaac did not know why, but the forest was littered only with small critters and tamed animals. Truly, like a paradise on Mortal Plane.

Animals struts about without fear. Some even flew close to the Death Knight, and others climbed and perched on Isaac's head.

"They like you." The Death Knight said with a jovial tone and handed Isaac a mug of muddy water, "It's sap tea, they taste sweet, or so I was told. I can't really taste anymore, so forgive me if they taste detestable."

"Thank you." Isaac graciously accepted the cup of tea.

But, there was just one glaring problem with the paradise; it was the Death Knight's presence.

To Isaac, a Death Knight was a legendary existence. A Death Knight's birth process was complicated, to say the least. To create a Death Knight, a Paladin or a Knight must commit a treacherous deed against their oaths and then die.

This alone, however, would not be enough as the once chivalrous Paladin or Knight must have an undying desire to pick up their swords and burn with the will to fight. The Death Knight would burn with hellfire, their flesh melting out and their armors charred by the fire.

Because of this, Death Knight had another name - Knight of Treachery.

'There was only one Death Knight to ever appear in Arcadia, and I don't know much about it.' Isaac glanced at the Death Knight, 'But, it gave me food… no one is evil who hands out unpoisoned food to an injured fellow, right?'

"Your heart rate abnormally fluctuated. Are you worried about me killing you, little one?" The Death Knight asked all of a sudden.

"...a little, I've only heard so little about Death Knights, and they aren't especially savory. Other than that, I thought you were kinda, okay, I'm still not dead, and if you were going to kill me, please give me one more jerky. That was a delicious jerky." Isaac honestly gave his thoughts. He did not care about its repercussions.

If he dies, he dies. He was already under the control of the Death Knight in his weakened state. To fight back was pointless and expenditure of stamina, 'If I'm not going to die in battle, I choose to die lazy and comfortable. Eating something delicious.' such was his belief.

The Death Knight looked down and saw Isaac nibbling on his jerky and could not help but laugh another time. Its laughter echoed far and wide, scaring the animals and beast alike, "You said that without feeling fear? You are indeed someone I did not expect. But don't worry, I do not kill anyone who does not show me bloodlust. I am a Death Knight, a being of treachery and betrayal, but even I managed to keep my pride.

"Well, if you want extra experience points, you can try and kill me, little one. But then, I will not shirk away and will battle you to the best of my abilities. So, do you want to test me?" The Death Knight asked cheerfully.

"I'll have to pass." Isaac answered, and the Death Knight asked if it could treat his wounds.

The Death Knight also failed to help Isaac with his right arm, but wrapping him in bandages with ointment and medicine increased his recovery rate, "There, all done. The ointments have little death mana, but they do not deal necrotic or poison damage, so you'd be fine. With your regeneration, you'd be able to walk without problem in two weeks."

"Thank you, Sir Death Knight. But, I haven't asked your name so, if I may?"

The Death Knight just looked at Isaac with a pained look, "Knight is enough. I have long forsaken my name."

The Death Knight didn't have eyes, but one could feel an incredible sadness it felt not being able to speak its name.

"Um, Knight, can I ask if you anything about the Fire Giants?" asked Isaac to change the subject.

Knight broke free from its thoughts and raised its fingers, "The Fire Giants? Aren't they all in Hell?"
