Chapter 79 - Chapter 78: Happy Halloween!

[Kaede POV]

Ugh... October..... My least favourite time of the year. That's all thanks to the celebrated worldwide event called Halloween!

On that month, every media will be something horror-themed, which I despise! You may wonder: 'Wow, Kaede, you're so powerful and yet you're afraid of things like zombies, ghouls or ghosts?'

First of all, thank you, I'm flattered and the answer to that question, my friends, was a heck yes! I'm terrified of supernatural monsters!

Let me tell you a story; it all started in my past life.....

I was still pretty young child back then, and I stumbled upon a paranormal investigation video on the internet. My step-siblings were interested in these things and they regularly talked about it, so I thought might as well give it a shot; how bad could that be?

Well, it was horrible! So bad that I got a paranoia that a monster was hiding in my closet and would take me away! I was so scared that I could not be alone in one room. Thankfully, I recovered after a few months, but just because I'm not as afraid as I was before doesn't mean I have to like it!

Things weren't any better when Mina and Ochako, my childhood friends, found out about this fear, and during October, the two would constantly scare me with pranks!

Enough with my ranting, I'm currently watching television with Shoto, and I furrowed my eyebrows when a horror film trailer goes on. Without me noticing, danger was lurking up from behind...

"BOO!!!"

A banshee-like monster appeared directly next to my face. I screamed in fear and fell off the couch: "HAHAHA." Mina laughed and took off the scary mask.

"It's not funny!" I yelled with teary eyes.

Mina shrugged: "It kinda is. You should've seen your face!"

I glanced at Shoto for help, but he averted my gaze and his shoulder shook, trying desperately not to laugh. I grumbled and punched him. Shoto chuckled and patted my head; I pouted but still leaned on his chest anyway.

A few days later...

Things were not going well for me, the rest of my class soon discovered my fear, and it was not fun! I don't know who to trust anymore! Now, I have to watch out if one of my friends is going to jumpscare me!

[3rd POV]

Kaede continued to get scared by her friends as the month went on. It was all fun and games until it got a little too far...

"Here she comes!" Denki excitedly whispered to Eijiro and Mashirao as he looked out the window... They put on their killer clown costumes and equipped their fake bloody knives.

The rest of class 1-A were in Mina's room nds they watched from a hidden camera created by Momo while giggling at what was about to come.

"This isn't right...." Iida said with a stern tone.

"I agree. I felt a little bad about this..." Ochako said with a pang of guilt, and Izuku nodded alongside her.

As Kaede entered the dorm, the lights were off: "Hello? Where is everybody...."

Kaede turned on the light from the living room, and three clowns stained with blood charged at her with knives. However, the boys made a significant mistake...

Kaede feared monsters: frightening imaginary creatures like ghouls or ghosts etc.

What the boys were dressing as were killer clowns. Killers typically were people, and people could get hurt. Instead of inciting Kaede's fear, they triggered her fighting instinct instead, and before anyone could react, she instantly launched a roundhouse kick at Denki's face.

Denki's head snapped back and his body crashed into the dining room table. Ejiro tried to protect himself with his hardened quirk, but a Rasengan solved that issue quickly. Mashirao managed to last a little longer with his martial arts training. However Kaede was way out of his league, and she finished Mashirao off with a jab to the throat.

Kaede unmasked her attackers and was surprised to see her friends. Realising this was a prank all along, she fumed. Kaede spotted the hidden camera with Sharingan before throwing a kunai at it, and the footage was cut out.

The spectators gulped, knowing that they won't be spared as well. Sure enough, Mina felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and whimpered as Kaede glared at her: "Ah, Kaede-chan..... You're back from your walk?"

30 minutes later...

Shoto and Katsuki finally came back from their Provisional Hero License Training. Today's training was more intense, so they returned later than usual... They froze as soon as they all entered the building.

In the living room, Kaede was smiling devilishly at the rest of class 1-A, who were in a seiza position, except for Mashirao, Eijiro and Denki, who were dead on the floor. "WE'RE SORRY!" They all yelled in unison.

Kaede sighed: "Good. I will accept your apology."

Their expressions lit up: "However..... Other than Shoto-kun and Bakugo-kun, I won't be cooking dinner for anyone else tonight!" Kaede declared; her tone meant she wouldn't have any further arguments.

Her friends despaired while Shoto and Katsuki felt like coming home a bit late wasn't so bad after all.

More Time Skips... The night before Halloween.

[Kaede POV]

After that incident, my friends never attempted to scare me again, and I thought that was the end of this nonsense, but sadly that's not the case. Mina ran to the lounge area where all of us were resting and told us that UA was hosting a Halloween event where the school would be transformed into a haunted school at night. We must work together as a class to locate an object and safely bring it out of the school, and the class that won will win a mystery reward.

"We have to participate!" Mina said with enthusiasm.

"Eh... But it sounds super scary..." I muttered and shivered at the thought of a haunted school.

"Cmon, Kaede-chan, what's there to worry about? Don't you want to know what the reward is?"

"I'm curious, but still...."

"Don't worry about it, Kaede-chan. Besides, Todoroki will protect you!" Mina teased and slightly blushed.

I saw the excitement in her friend's eyes and sighed. I felt a hand on my shoulder and Shoto smiling at me. I relaxed before sighing again: "Fine, let's do it."

My friends cheered, and I slowly regretted my decision: "The prize better be worth it...."
