Cecilia rushed over when Zane went out. She was relieved that Zane had left soon but grew tense, looking at Eleanor sitting on the bed sullenly. Her blood chilled as she assumed Zane had seen the star birthmark.
"Why are you so serious? Did he see it?" She couldn't tell if it was her voice or her heart that was shaking more.
"I feel so sad… Um…" Eleanor buried her head in the pillow. "I lied to him. He is honest with me. He told me everything about him… his pain, his frustration, his relationship with Ruby… But what did I do? I lied. I kept things hidden from him. I didn't reveal my real identity." She raised her head and looked at her. "I am not honest with him. He will hate me." She again hid her face in the pillow.
Cecilia felt terrible, watching her in such a dilemma. She knew what it was like to keep secrets from her beloved. But she was aware of her reluctance to reveal the truth.
