Chapter 32 - Chapter 32- Killing the rogue leader

Zane ran faster, ripping the air. The putrid stench of the rogues made him wrinkle his muzzle. The growling of the wolves was loud and clear now.

He noticed the dead bodies of the guards were scattered here and there. A large number of rogue armies surprised him.

He didn't have time to think as a swarm of rogues charged at him. He punched and kicked some of them while snapping the neck of another. His sharp eyes caught the sight of the rogue leader, Kyle, killing a guard. His blood was boiling with rage, and his eyes were on fire.

He dashed towards Kyle, ripping the throat of a brown wolf who tried to stop him.

Another brown wolf charged at him.

Zane threw his arm at him, striking him in the face. The wolf collapsed to the ground.

Zane lifted him over his head with one hand on his throat and the other on his leg. He then hurled him at Kyle.

Thud…

The wolf fell to the ground right in front of Kyle.

"Grr…" Zane glared at him, a threatening snarl escaping from his throat. His dagger-like incisors shone as he wrinkled his snout.

Kyle gaped at him, surprised. He had not expected him here. He assumed Zane had gone to tackle the other group. Looking at his ferocious look, he shuddered.

He stepped back instinctively when Zane lunged at him. He wished he could flee at once. But he received a punch on his tummy before he could block his attack.

"Ugh…" He automatically bent down, but another punch in the face caused him to stumble backward. He could see sparkling stars in front of his eyes.

Zane kicked him down. He jumped on him before Kyle could get to his hind legs. He pressed his knee against his sternum, ready to rip his throat.

Another rogue lunged at him from behind and gashed his flesh on the right shoulder.

"Yaff…" Zane whimpered, a sharp pain overwhelming him.

Kyle seized the opportunity to knock him down. He jumped on him and sank his sharp incisors into his left leg.

Zane yelped and elbowed the wolf on his back. He then rolled to the ground and kicked Kyle down. When he saw the other rogue charging at him, he jumped to his hind legs and struck him on the sternum with an uppercut. The impact made the rogue fly backward and collapse a few feet away.

Zane took a leap and landed on him. He ripped his throat in a flash.

Kyle fled as he knew he couldn't defeat Zane.

"Grr…" Zane growled as he pursued him.

Two rogues blocked him and charged at him together.

Zane kicked one rogue and punched the other. Meanwhile, another wolf attacked him from behind and bit him on the bleeding shoulder.

Zane whimpered. He spun around to shrug the wolf off. The other two wolves lunged at him, gashing flesh from his legs.

Zane collapsed on the ground, whining in pain. He twisted his body violently, but he couldn't get the rogue off his back. He clenched his teeth and dug his thumbs into his eyes.

"Yaff..." cried the rogue, rolling on the ground and covering his face.

Zane slammed his fist on one of the rogues biting his leg. The blow made the rogue dizzy and released him instantly. The other fled, afraid of being killed.

Zane panted as he endured the pain.

Kyle noticed Zane was hurt and alone. He believed he could kill him. He charged over to him at breakneck speed. He pounded him from the back and locked his neck with his arms.

Zane's eyes widened as he struggled to breathe. He twisted his body left and right and repeatedly elbowed him in the stomach.

"Urgh…" Kyle whimpered in pain, his grip slipping.

Zane knocked him down with a backward kick and pinned him to the ground. He punched him in the face, again and again.

Every blow felt like a hammer.

Kyle was on the verge of passing out. He left with no strength to fight back.

Buff-Buff-Buff…

Zane didn't stop punching him even though Kyle was not moving. A few images of his mother pleading for mercy flashed through his mind. It was driving him insane. He was only five back then and was unable to help her. He did nothing but hiding behind a bush while those rogues raped and murdered her.

"Zane…" Dimitri's voice startled him. His fist froze in the air.

"Leave him. We can interrogate him."

Zane was not in the state to think anything straight. His entire body shook in rage.

"All the rogues are killed. Calm down. Don't kill him." Dimitri approached him prudently.

Zane couldn't get rid of the images of the rogues killing his mother. He didn't hear what his father said. All he could hear were her mother's heart-wrenching cries.

"Grr…" He growled and snapped Kyle's neck. He lowered his head, gradually reverting to human form.

Dimitri sighed dejectedly. He wanted to question Kyle about Alpha Damien. It was a good chance to find out what Damien was planning. Despite his disappointment, he was happy that Zane was okay.

He walked over to him and called him, "Zane…"

Zane got to his feet and limped away without even glancing at him.

Dimitri's eyes dimmed with sorrow as he watched his retreating form. He didn't know how to pacify him.

On the other hand, Connor and his troops arrived at the rogue pack. They were surprised to find the entire area almost empty. They initially thought the rogues were hiding somewhere to attack them sneakily. Their misconception was dispelled when they searched the area.

Kyle was nowhere to be found. A few rogues guarding the pack fled for their lives.

Lucas grew anxious when he figured out something. "The rogues tricked us," he exclaimed. "The pack is in danger. We must go back." He pivoted and dashed away.

"Wait… Lucas…" Connor yelled. However, Lucas didn't listen to him. All the soldiers also followed him, leaving Connor alone.

Connor snorted, annoyed. He intended to destroy the rogue gang and kill the leader. But everything seemed to be slipping through his fingers.

He had no choice but to follow the group.

As Lucas arrived at the southern border, he saw Zane.

"Zane…" He rushed over to him.

"Lucas…" Zane also ran up to him despite the pain in his legs.

They hugged each other, smiling with relief.

"I am glad to see you all right," Zane murmured.

"You, fool…" Lucas punched him in the arm.

"Ouch…" Zane groaned, squeezing his eyes. "It hurts." He grimaced.

Only then did Lucas notice blood oozing from his shoulder wound.

"You are hurt," he said worriedly, looking at him from top to bottom. He also noticed the wounds on his legs. "You should go back to the pack. Why are you still here?"

Zane cracked a grin, even in the pain. "I have been waiting for you."

"Idiot. Let's go back." Lucas wrapped his arm around his waist and led him to the packhouse. "By the way, who had the nerve to injure you like this?" He mocked.

"It doesn't matter," Zane replied, putting his hand across his shoulders. "What matters is that I killed Kyle."

"I am not at all surprised."

"Hahaha…" Zane burst out laughing.

"We should celebrate the victory," Lucas squealed. "I will talk to the Alpha."

Connor glared at their departing forms, his fists trembling. It seemed as if a big tide washed away all his efforts. It was his plan to kill Kyle and become the hero in front of the pack. But Zane had ruined his dream.

"No matter what, I will become the Alpha of the Moon Keepers," he muttered fiercely. "I will do anything for it… anything." He clenched and unclenched his jaw.
