Chapter 25 - Chapter 25- The important information

Eleanor walked back home glumly, thinking about what Connor had said. It was the second time he had saved her from Ruby's wrath. Not only did he save her, but he also helped her clean up the mess in the shop. If he had not helped her, it would have taken a long time for her to clean up.

She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she had no idea how she got home.

"Eleanor…" Cecilia ran up to her. "Thank goodness you are all right." She took her into her embrace. "I just heard from the neighbors that Ruby and her friends vandalized the shop. I was worried about you. Are you okay?" She inspected her from head to toe, holding her arms.

Eleanor blinked in a state of trance. It took her some time to gather her thoughts.

"Yeah… I am fine." She walked into the hall and sat on a chair, putting her purse on the dining table. She poured herself a glass of water and drank it.

Cecilia stood beside her, a frown on her face, watching her with curiosity.

Eleanor peered at her over the glass. "What?" she asked, setting the glass down.

Cecilia drew a chair from under the table and sat down. "Ruby and her friends destroyed our shop. You are so calm as if nothing has happened. Shouldn't you yell or express your annoyance? How do you maintain your cool? Did you hit your head on something?"

"What do you expect me to do?" Eleanor snapped back, her face scrunching up with annoyance. "Do you want me to go fight her? Or are you expecting me to use my power and kill her?"

"This is not what I mean." Cecilia grimaced.

"I have already told you that we cannot do anything against her."

"We can," Cecilia retorted before Eleanor could finish her sentence. "We should complain to the Alpha about her. We cannot allow her to bully us simply because she is Zane's mate."

"You don't have to worry about that. I can deal with her."

"How?" Cecilia squinted at her, cocking her head. She felt a flash of irritation.

"Ugh…" Eleanor pressed her forehead, wincing. "My head is throbbing. Let's stop this conversation here, shall we? I am starving. Please serve the food." She got to her feet and went to her bedroom.

"Oh, Moon Goddess…" Cecilia groaned as she stood up and proceeded to the kitchen. "She is unfathomable. I have to do something. I will talk to Lucas. He will certainly help us…" She kept murmuring as she served the food.

While going back to the packhouse, Connor ran into someone in a black cloak. "Watch out," he growled, glaring at the figure.

The figure leaned toward him and whispered something.

Connor's eyes narrowed as he heard him. He looked around before grabbing his arm and dragging him along to the roadside. He brought the person behind a large tree and asked, "Is this confirmed information?"

The person slid down the hood of his head, revealing his face to him. "Yes," he replied, his voice deep and husky. "I saw the rogue leader with Alpha Damian."

Connor glanced around the surroundings to make sure no one was around. He turned his focus to the spy and murmured, "Keep an eye on the rogue leader. I need every detail about his movements."

"I get it." The spy bowed to him.

"Hmm…" With a wave of his hand, Connor signaled to him to leave.

The spy pulled up his hood and dashed away, his silhouette disappearing into the darkness in seconds.

Connor hurried back to the packhouse, his lips quirking into a devilish smile.

It didn't take him long to get to the house.

"Where is Alpha?" he stopped a servant and asked.

"He is in the office with beta," the servant replied with his head bowed.

Connor went straight to the office.

The guard bowed to him, but he stopped him and said in a polite tone, "Sorry. I'm afraid I can't let you in right now. Alpha is having an important meeting."

Connor's eyes turned frigid in an instant. "I can't wait," he growled, tightening his grip on the carry bag. "I need to speak with Alpha right now."

"I am sorry." The guard stood adamantly in front of him. "Alpha has ordered me not to let anybody disturb him. You have to wait until the meeting is over."

"I don't have time to wait." Connor shoved him down and dashed into the office, pushing open the door.

The guard sprang to his feet to stop him, but Connor had already entered the room.

Dimitri and Caleb looked up at him instantly.

"What is this?" Dimitri roared in his alpha tone, his eyes burning with rage.

Connor's heart dropped to his stomach under his murderous glare. He instinctively bowed to him.

"Sorry, Alpha. But I have an important information… about the rogue leader."

"Take your seat," Dimitri said, nodding to the chair opposite him.

"Alpha…" Connor sat down, putting the carry bag on the floor beside the chair. "My informant reached me out just now. The rogue leader is planning a big attack against us, and Alpha Damian is helping him."

"Are you sure?" Caleb asked, frowning.

"Yes." Connor gave him a passing glance and then returned his focus to Dimitri. "He saw the rogue leader and Alpha Damian meet."

Dimitri leaned back in his chair, his expression turning solemn.

"If the information is correct, we need to increase border patrol," Caleb suggested to Dimitri.

"Why should we wait for them to attack us?" Connor asked. "We should attack them first." His eyes shone with a strange light.

"No, no… This is not a good idea," Caleb immediately dismissed the suggestion. "We have no clue how strong the rogue army is. If Alpha Damian is helping them, the soldiers of the Bloodlust pack will also join them. Attacking the rogue gang will be detrimental to us. It is preferable that we increase border patrols."

"If attacking them is detrimental, waiting for their attack is even worse," Connor retorted vehemently. "Alpha…" he turned to Dimitri and added, "we shouldn't waste our time and strength on increasing the patrol. We should launch an attack."

Dimitri sat upright and held up his hand, silencing him. "Guard…"

The guard immediately came in and bowed to him.

"Go call Zane and Lucas."

"Alpha…" The guard left in a hurry.

Connor's hands curled into fists under the table as rage began to build up within him. He brought the information, but Dimitri preferred Zane to take action against the rogues. It was as if Dimitri had never believed in his capability.

Connor was restless to prove how powerful and capable he was. He wanted to show Dimitri that he was no less than Zane in any aspect. He was as qualified as Zane to be the Alpha. But Dimitri would always prioritize his son.

Connor felt wronged every time Dimitri chose Zane over him. He felt mistreated. This notion added to his hatred for Dimitri. Sometimes he wished to kill the father and son and take over the pack.

He clenched and unclenched his jaw, struggling to keep his cool.

"Alpha…" Lucas came in and bowed to Dimitri.

"Where is Zane?" Dimitri snarled, his fiery gaze fixed on the guard behind Lucas.

The guard trembled under his scathing glare. He bowed his head even lower and said, "He is in his room… with Miss Ruby." He added the last three words a moment later.
