"Punishing Eleanor!!!" Linde's voice was shaking. "How? What if we get caught? Alpha will punish us."
"Alpha will punish her, not us," Nia hissed confidently, her lips forming a wicked grin. She then gave her something wrapped in a rag. "Mix a few drops of it in the food."
Linde's hands were shaking. "What is it? Is this poison?"
"No…" Nia snarled, baring her teeth. "Why would I poison the inhabitants of the packhouse?" She gave her a piercing stare. "Anyway… be careful. No one should see you mixing it, especially Eleanor."
Linde was scared, but her desire to punish Eleanor made her agree with Nia. She gave a firm nod. "I will be careful."
Nia sneaked away, pretending nothing had happened.
Later that evening…
Eleanor stood beside the window and watched the sky, which was gloomy and devoid of stars. Her thoughts were also clouded with worry… worry for Zane and the future.
