Lucas felt a sudden adrenaline rush into his veins, his eyes growing wide.
"Shit…" He rushed over to him and took a large leap. He landed on him in the next moment.
The sudden attack caught the man off guard. His hold on the blowpipe had slipped. He attempted to flee, but Lucas punched him twice in the face.
"Ugh…" he groaned, a sharp pain overwhelming him. His nose began to bleed.
Lucas pinned him to the ground and pressed his knee to his sternum. "Who are you?" he hissed as he grabbed his collar.
The man picked up some dirt from the ground and threw it in his face.
"Uhm…" Lucas instantly covered his face with his arm, yet some dirt got into his eyes. He felt scratchy as he tried to open his eyes. There was a burning sensation too.
While he was distracted, the man shoved him down and fled. Lucas stood up and wanted to chase him after, but he could barely open his eyes.
The commotion caught the attention of a soldier who had come out to pee. He rushed over to him.
"Are you okay?"
"Bring some water," Lucas urged.
The soldier ran to his hiding place and came back with a decanter of water.
Lucas poured some water into his palm and washed his eyes.
"What is going on?" The soldier asked.
"Someone was here," Lucas replied.
"Rogue?"
"No… Someone was trying to…"
Grr-Grr-Grr…
The growling of the wolves echoed in the air.
"The rogues are here," someone hollered.
The soldier transformed into a wolf and ran to join his team. Lucas had no time to waste. After hiding the blowpipe behind a bush, he also transformed into a black wolf and ran to fight.
Connor and the army chief had already started killing the rogues. They didn't show any mercy. They killed every rogue who came before them.
Some rogues fought, while others attempted to flee. The ambushed soldiers surrounded them and killed them one by one.
The cries of the dying rogues and the metallic smell of blood hung in the air. Dead bodies and blood splatters littered the ground. The rogues were fighting for their lives, while the soldiers were fighting to protect their pack.
However, Connor fought to prove his strength. He wanted to show everyone how mighty he was. He scrunched his snout and ripped the throat of a rogue. Blood splattered on his face.
"Grr…" He clenched his fists and growled angrily.
His demonic appearance frightened the rogues. They fled in different directions. But the soldiers blocked them soon.
Connor charged at the rogues and began killing them one after another. He snapped some of their necks and ripped others' throats. He was agile and ferocious. His murderous appearance had already terrified the rogues to the point where they had mentally accepted defeat.
Not only the rogues, but the soldiers were also scared. They all stood there speechless, watching him kill.
"Oowoo…" He howled when he finished killing, blood dripping down from his body.
All were transformed back to their human forms.
Lucas rushed over to Connor and informed him, "Some rogues have been captured. We should have a team to take them to the pack."
"What is the point of sending them to the pack and filling the dungeon?" Connor growled. "Kill them all."
Lucas frowned, not happy with his decision. "They have surrendered. Furthermore, we can question them to learn more about what Alpha Damien is planning."
"Who is in charge here?" Connor snapped, his eyes glowing orange like rising fire.
Lucas also leveled the glare, not ready to follow his command.
"I will decide what to do and what not to do. Keep your advice to yourself." Connor jabbed his chest with his index finger. "Go and finish them. Then we will go attack their gang." He walked past him, his shoulder banging against his.
Lucas remained glued to the spot, his nostrils flaring. His fists trembled as he tried to keep his rage in check.
He glared at the soldiers gaping at him and roared, "What are you looking at? Go and carry out your leader's command." He dashed away.

When Zane arrived at the southern border, it was already dark. Rogues frequently attacked on that side, so patrolling was intense. The mightiest guards of the pack were stationed here.
The distant howling of the wolves alerted them. Everyone was sure that the ambushed soldiers were engaged in fierce battle with the enemies.
Zane restlessly paced back and forth, rubbing his fist. He was impatient to rush there and join the battle. However, he suppressed that drive, assuming some enemies could infiltrate the border.
"Rogues, rogues, rogues..." A man's sharp voice drew their attention.
Zane noticed an injured man rushing over. He ran up to him.
Before he could reach him, the man collapsed to the ground.
"Hey…" Zane squatted beside him.
Several guards also came over and encircled them, looking at the man with surprise.
"Open your eyes." Zane tapped him on the face. "Where did you see the rogues?"
The man could barely open his eyes, let alone speak.
"He was stationed on the eastern border," one of the soldiers said.
Zane looked up at him. He realized the rogues had already invaded the border.
"Take him back to the pack." With that, he leaped to his feet and rushed to the east.
He didn't have the time to take off his clothes. He took a leap and transformed into a huge black wolf, shredded pieces of clothes flying in the air.
"Oowoo…" A rumbling howl escaped from his mouth as he picked up his pace.
A group of guards followed him.
Dimitri, who was standing beside the window in his room and staring out in a daze, heard the howling. His ears perked up when he realized it was Zane. He dashed out of the door and ran down the stairs.
"Guards…" he yelled. "Call Caleb." He ran out of the house without waiting for his beta.
While a guard rushed to call for Caleb, several other guards followed Dimitri.
As they ran into the woods, they came across two patrol guards carrying an injured man.
Dimitri stopped them and asked, "What is happening?"
"The mutts have attacked the eastern border," said one of the guards, bowing his head. "Zane has gone to stop them."
Dimitri's face turned pale as he feared Zane would get hurt. His heart sank when he figured Zane was alone with only a few patrol guards. In the past, he had lost his wife in a battle with the enemies. He couldn't lose his son.
"Take him to the alchemist." After giving him the order, Dimitri ran towards the eastern border.
