The room was filled with alot of people and they all seemed powerful but one in particular dominated all and he was sitting on the throne along with his Queen. I held on tighter to Tan's hand who didn't seemed intimidated by the crowd at all. We were directed to stand infront of Roman whose eyes showed no emotions at all, it was like he was not the guy from the hospital who literally helped me with a panic attack.
"Summon her", he told the guard who was standing next to him. A few minutes later Andra entered the room wearing her warrior armour and her head held high. Her eyes were trained at the King. She bowed her head and when told to rise she did. "The council has informed me that you have a request to bring to my attention", "Yes your Majesty. I am requesting for a Mate tournament against Lola Michaelson, whoever wins the tournament gets the Warrior Tan as her mate, forever". "I do not accept this my King", Tan said with his voice deep and deadly. "As part of the Royal Guard and the high ranked warrior i am allowed to make such request without the consent of my chosen", she replied. I swear i just became mute. Why was this happening to me, all i wanted was just to open a flower shop but my life keeps attracting more problems than happiness. I felt my body being shaken back to reality but i couldn't respond. From the sparks i knew it was Tan but i couldn't respond nor move my eyes away from Andra who was smirking at me and it scared the crap out of me. "Breath Baby, come on, count with me, Cute face? can you hear me? count with me baby", his voice penetrated my mind and i started counting not aware of what i am to achieve but soon it all came back to me, we were sitting in a garden, it was a very beautiful one, just me and him. I held his face in my arms and he closed his eyes making a purring sound reminding me of Hunter, it made me smile. "I love you so much Tan", "I love you more Lola, and i wont let any harm come to you", Tan rarely said my name and when he did, he wanted me to know that he was being extra serious. "You know you can't go against the crown. Look i will be ok, you taught me self defence right, i can take her", i tried to sound assuring but god knows i was shaking to my core. "Lola, am sorry that i couldn't protect you from my world, am sorry i've failed you, the one thing that am supposed to do is protect you and now i can't because of the stupid rules", i heard a crack of wood and it turns out he was holding on to the bench and literally broke it. "Look, the moon goddess gave me to you for a reason and i would like to believe that it was for more than this, so i want to do this, i want to show them that am not afraid and that i am willing to fight for my mate", i said matter of factly making pride appear on his face.
We were watching TV when his Mother walked in. She pulled me in a hug and cried. "Am so sorry Lola. Tan can't you talk to Roman, tell him to stop this madness", she told her son making me hold her tighter, she reminded me of my Mother. I knew deep in my heart that i was signing my death warrant but i had to trust in the moon goddess the same way my Tan did. He thinks i don't notice when he wakes up at night and prays to her, asking her to intervene, i think it's admirable but i mean we have to get real at some point. "What if she escapes? go back to the human world?", "You know we can't allow that, it would mean that she has surrendered and that i have to end up with Andra!", he spat angry and punched the wall. "That's better than getting killed and you know it", "No Mother!", he replied and went to the bedroom slamming the door behind him. "We will figure this out sweetie, have faith", she said but more to herself than me.
"What the hell are you doing here? Haven't you done enough?", "Tan, it's her right, what was i supposed to do?", "You were supposed to be my friend! you were supposed to take care of your own god damn it!", "You know it doesn't work like that, i can't miss use my powers for this", "But you can when your mate is on the line? I've broken countless laws for you and for what?", his voice was getting louder and i knew i had to do something before they broke their friendship. Roman and Tan were inseparable since they were pups i guess and initially he was supposed to be the Royal beta but he never liked attention so he refused and Roman had to pick Jasper but even that never separated them. Roman crowned him the head of the Royal guard the moment he finished training and he has been serving him ever since. To most people he was a normal warrior but everyone in the Royal guard including Andra knew who he was to them and the King, they all swore an oath during coronation which is why he was named Stealth. Everyone wanted him in their pack so the only way to go was hide in plain site. I got out of bed and went to the living room where i found Roman sitting calmly while Tan was panting full of anger. "Tan. Stop pushing people away ok? we have talked about this, please", i begged making him turn to me and his eyes getting softer as he approached me and hugged me. "Am sorry i left you alone in bed, i had to answer the door. I know how much you hate not waking up next to me when am home", he said slowly taking in my scent, held on tighter."It's ok Baby, i don't mind", "I do, since am useless the least i can do is be there for you", the sadness in his voice made my heart break.I hated seeing him like this.
"Lola, i came to apologise for everything", Roman said to me when Tan decided he couldn't stand being in the same space as him. "It's ok i promise", i assured him as i walked him out of the house, when we were at the front door i closed the door behind me. "Roman, if i don't make it do you promise to take care of him for me? please", i asked him, tears were running down my cheeks and i didn't want to stop them, it felt ok to open up to him. He looked at me with guilt and nod his head, walking away with his head down.
