Chereads / Heroes of Arcana / Chapter 3 - Combat Training Class

Chapter 3 - Combat Training Class

Ignoring the shock from the low amount of natural stats my body has, I quickly turn my attention to my title and skill.

'Traveler from Another World'

From just the title, I can probably infer that Heroes of Arcana might somehow be involved with sending me to this world due to it knowing I was from another world.

I guess it was a good thing given that I was going to die from the subway crash, but the question is why and how…

I tapped on the title to see what stats the title gave.

[Title: Traveler from Another World

+5 Luck

A title given to those who have traveled from a different world into Arkesia.]

*My mouth slightly twitches*

If it gave me 5 luck, then that means I naturally had zero luck.

I then quickly averted my attention to my skill 'Dedication'.

[Skill: Dedication lvl10 (MAX)

Passive - As long as the user continues their perseverance, they will naturally be able to learn at a faster pace]

The skill is somewhat vague, does it only apply to knowledge or can it work with skills and mana as well?

I'll have to try this out later.

Soon teacher Kwan woke me up from my thoughts with his loud voice.

"Now that everyone has gotten a chance to look at your stats and skills, I would like each of you to pick and try out weapons you are skilled in."

Naturally I got worried about this instruction.

As someone from the 21st century in Korea where there is no need to learn how to wield weapons like swords or bows, I wondered if I'll make a fool of myself.

"W-What weapon are you going to choose?" Park Sung-Ho said as he came up to me.

"I-I'm going to use the bow as that's the only weapon I can use properly."

"For me… I don't really have any experience wielding a weapon, so I might choose a sword or a spear." Among the different types of weapons, I believe these two were probably the safest options.

Park Sung-Ho tries to reassure me. "Seo-Jun, Y-You got this, i'm sure you'll do fine."

As we were discussing what weapons might fit me,, suddenly there was a commotion from a couple of students in the class.

"Woah look at the way she naturally moves."

"As expected of someone from a well-renowned family."

"It's too bad that her stamina cannot keep up with her destructive power, otherwise she wouldn't be part of class F…"

Park Ji-Hye was shown wearing a pair of gloves and is accurately hitting the training dummy at a fast pace.

But because of her low stamina, she soon became extremely tired and was gasping for air.

"I hate how my body has a pitifully low amount of stamina… otherwise I could've kept going" she muttered to herself with disdain as she left the training field.

Park Ji-Hye, born in a family of renown fighters who help protect Arkesia, had an issue with her lungs at birth.

If not for this reason, she can easily aim for top rankings in the school.

But because of this, she had contempt towards those who bullied those who were weak and would always aim to protect the students in class F even when she advanced to class A.

After Park Ji-Hye stopped training and began resting, the rest of the class started practicing their weapons as well.

Of course, being in class F there wasn't anyone else that was as eye-catching, but surprisingly Park Sung-Ho was way better compared to them.

As Park Sung-ho was shooting his bow, all of his arrows had hit the vital points of the training dummy.

"Why are you in class F if you are this skilled in the bow?" I asked as I walked towards him.

"Even though I'm skilled at the bow, t-the rest of my stats are low and I'm bad at mana manipulation" Park Sung-Ho responded shyly as he scratched the back of his head.

As we arrived at the weaponry area, I tried picking up a sword.

When holding the sword it felt awkward and somewhat heavy for me as I tried swinging it around, so I decided to try out the spear instead.

Although the spear was a little bit more comfortable and lighter to handle, I could not get used to the length of the spear.

So I put it back and a different weapon caught my eyes.

It was a dagger.

[Item Name: Basic Training Dagger

Rarity: Normal

Effect: N/A

A normal dagger mass produced with basic and crude materials.]

The dagger was slightly longer and heavier than a normal knife, but it felt more comfortable to hold compared to the other two weapons as a knife was the only 'weapon' I wielded in my everyday life.

Although one of the biggest drawbacks is that I have to get closer to the enemy compared to the other weapons, it should be fine as long as I get used to it.

As I walked towards a training dummy, I suddenly got nervous.

I tried calming down by reassuring myself that if I don't get used to fighting now, I won't be able to survive in the future.

Gritting my teeth I started slashing various vital points such as the neck and lastly ended it with a stab to the chest.

It wasn't the best attempt at handling the dagger, but despite my shaking and awkward slashes, it was okay considering it was my first attempt.

I quickly left to calm down from all the blood rushing towards my head wondering, if it was already this bad what would happen if I were to actually be in a fight or kill something for the first time.

Soon classes were about to end as I was resting on the side, so Sung-Ho and I went to the teacher and registered the weapon of our choosing, and left the training hall with them.

* * *

Later in the evening, I decided to head towards our class training area to practice wielding a dagger.

As I entered, I saw Park Ji-Hye practicing.

She sure is hard working.

I then quietly went into a separate room and began testing out different dagger styles I looked up.

Our student phones are connected to different official videos and guides for various techniques in order to help us improve.

Looking at the different methods I began testing them all out one by one.

Being completely immersed into the training, hours and hours have passed by and although I'm still awkward at moving quickly while hitting vital points, at least I have gotten used to swinging the dagger around.

Finally getting tired, I went to the side and checked on my stats.

It seems like all my training was worth it. I was able to obtain the dagger mastery skill from the constant training.

Although I still don't know if my dedication skill affected my skill learning speed or not, it seemed like it helped me memorize the techniques I was practicing.

Hearing a knock on the door, I looked up.

Park Ji-Hye opened the door to my training room and greeted me. "Hello, my name is Park Ji-Hye, nice to meet you."

"Ah, hello my name is Kim Seo-Jun." I responded awkwardly due to the sudden introductions.

"It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that's practicing hard in our class, let's be friends and help each other out as we'll be seeing each other often in the training room!"

"Alright." I responded with a smile.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow, have a good night." Park Ji-Hye yelled out as she quickly left.

I always knew her personality was extremely outgoing in the game, but experiencing it first hand sure is different.

At least it's not a bad thing being friendly with the playable characters in the game, especially with Park Ji-Hye who is friendly towards others and is childhood friends with the main character.

After finishing my thoughts, I started cleaning up and headed towards my dorm to rest for tomorrow.
