Chereads / Harry Potter: Red Weasley The Strange Red Wizard / Chapter 152 - Chapter 148: New Job

Chapter 152 - Chapter 148: New Job

The door of the Scamander house opened, and from there Tina and Elise saw their respective partners, dressed in their work attire, enter with tired expressions.

"Welcome!" (Tina)

"How did it go?" (Lys)

The women asked their partners, approaching them and giving them a warm welcome. Both Newt and I sat down in the living room armchairs before responding.

"Well, it was a demiguise that escaped from some smugglers. That was the cause of all the commotion." (Red)

"But I thought you said they were wild Thestrals." (Tina)

That's what they said... but it seemed strange to me that no one had seen them to confirm it," Newt replied as he took the glass of water that Tina had just levitated towards him.

"You look very tired." (Lys)

"Catching a demiguise is no easy task," I gasped in response, sprawling on the armchair. "It was a terrible job, but we managed to do it in the end."

"A big part of that credit goes to Red. He did most of the work," Newt acknowledged.

"Yes, well... don't take it the wrong way, but I couldn't let the old man do those exhausting things," I replied honestly.

"I may not be as young anymore, but I still have a lot to offer," he retorted.

"I know, that's why I left the magical part to you while I took care of the rest," I said.

"Was it hard?" (Lys)

"The difficult part was that the demiguise led us to the hideout of the same smugglers who brought it here. They were a pain in the ass, but we gave them what they deserved." (Red)

"You fought?! And why didn't you call me?" My beloved unicorn complained.

"Sorry, love, but they had an underground base, almost like a sewer, and it wasn't a good place for you to join... Next time, I promise I'll call you for the fun part." I consoled her, stroking her ears.

"Fighting smugglers is not fun," Tina scolded me seriously. "And why did you get involved in something like that?"

"Come on, Tina, we've done things like that before," Newt said, trying to appease his wife before she began to complain, well aware that she hadn't always been a saint in her youth.

"Not with a child," (Tina)

"But he's very capable. We almost started a competition to see who could neutralize more traffickers," he tried to justify.

'And I held back with my more malevolent abilities,' I thought to myself.

Despite the reprimands, Tina still felt somewhat proud of our achievement. It wasn't part of the main plan to destroy a smuggling base; we went to help with some uncontrollable magical creatures that were causing trouble in the Muggle world, but that's how it ended up.

...

It has been some time since we started living half of our lives at the Scamander house, and with that came my new job as their assistant/collaborator.

The demiguise incident was one of those jobs that we carried out regularly. Although Newt is a magizoologist by profession, he has many acquaintances who call him when there are issues with magical creatures like that. Some of those acquaintances were the ones we visited during Christmas.

We go here and there, helping some creatures, assisting wizards with creatures, or studying the creatures themselves. It's not an unpleasant job, but it can be exhausting at times, and if you're not well-prepared, you can lose more than you imagine. Many of those beasts are far from harmless.

During this time, things were not too eventful, except in the beginning. We already had a room in Newt's house, and there was no discord between us, so the four of us could coexist quite well together. Additionally, between one and two weeks per month, Elise and I would return to the forest.

My studies progressed a lot with Tina by my side 24 hours a day, in addition to my learning abilities. After a few months, she could hardly teach me anything of great relevance, but that didn't mean my education stopped. Since they couldn't convince me to attend any educational institution, Newt truly took me as his apprentice, with all the implications that entailed.

We have agreed that I will work with him, but lately, he has started to teach me in a more serious manner everything he knows about creatures. He saw in me a true heir to his legacy of love for magical creatures, something he didn't have before.

It's not that he hasn't taught others or his own children, but I was different. I genuinely loved magical creatures, hehe, just look at Elise... kidding aside, he noticed my respect and the way I treated all creatures as equals, something even he couldn't achieve at the same level. He didn't know that part of it was influenced by my abilities to communicate with those creatures.

It didn't go completely unnoticed, and in a short time, Newt noticed that I had more abilities than I revealed. Many of those abilities were perfect for dealing with creatures, like my auras, which increased his desire to teach me. He could have had other apprentices, but I was the first one with natural talent, love for creatures, and a promising future in this field, especially since he could teach me freely from a young age without hindrances.

It was that vision of the future that prompted him to take more action than he had planned, and we carried out tasks at the same level as when he was young, except that after learning, it was mostly me who took care of carrying them out.

We went here and there, with permissions from the ministries to travel outside of Great Britain. Tina wasn't completely happy about that, but after seeing her husband's enthusiasm and determined vision, she decided to support him. It was tedious at first, but I won't deny that Newt has taught me things I couldn't have learned even at Hogwarts. It's completely different being among a bunch of students in front of a teacher on the school grounds than going out into the world, facing real dangers, and interacting with different wild creatures, beyond the ones I knew in the Forbidden Forest.

What gave us more freedom in our work and fewer problems with our partners were some abilities. Thanks to [Travel], we could go farther each time without bothering Tina, while also making things less tedious. Ten minutes and we're back home... or so it was for a while.

After revealing some things to Newt, he helped me acquire a reliable mount to perform [Rapid Mass Travel], which involved placing a mount in that magical carriage ability I obtained earlier and that Elise didn't want to use. Thanks to that, Tina even accompanied us on a few occasions.

We also utilized the help of the [merchant] and the [archmage] to our advantage, further improving our effectiveness and making the Scamander name mentioned in the streets of the wizarding world after solving problems that were previously hardly addressed.

...

My relationship with Petunia grew stronger. We had secret dates where she was fascinated by the stories I told her about my new job and with promises that in the future, I would show her a world of wonders.

Her parents had some suspicions about us, but we didn't reveal anything that would directly involve them, so everything was fine, although Petunia found it difficult to hide it all. We would be fine for a while.

Then came the end of the school year, and we welcomed Snape and Lily once again. It was a joy to see them and have them back. We missed them a little, although you could tell how much they had changed while being at Hogwarts, but nothing that a beating to Bitch Snape and some cuddles to Lily couldn't fix.

When they returned, everything turned into a little chaos. Snape, who was concerned, found out that I wouldn't be living with him since I "moved out of my aunt's house." That led to revealing my true relationship with the Scamanders, and well... that left both wizards with their eyes wide open. Lily had joked before, but the expression she had when I told her was priceless... which I captured in a photograph... or two.

They bombarded me with questions and demands, which I knew would come. At least I had prepared several books by Newt with personalized signatures for this moment. Now, as Newt's family member, I committed to introducing them to him.

During these holidays, although they requested it, I didn't take them with me to Newt's. I had a lot to think about and prepare to avoid everything blowing up in my face, so I postponed it. Instead, to entertain them, I made sure they enjoyed the Muggle world to their hearts' content.

Andra obtained my fake identity, and thanks to her help in convincing the girls' parents, we managed to take them "out to play," but in reality, we were taking them on trips whenever they came with us. With Newt, I discovered many interesting places that I later took my friends to.

Of course, we made sure the girls kept the secret about these illegal escapades to avoid problems, but it was good entertainment. The girls were satisfied, and Snape... well, we had fun with him later, visiting some slightly more dangerous magical areas, but always with Andra taking care of us.

Something curious, perhaps an accident that I had nothing to do with, was that in a certain alley, Gigi crossed paths with us and dragged Snape into the darkness to shake off his bad mood and scare him. What a coincidence, muahaha! In the end, we dragged Bitch Snape, who could barely stand, back home, where his mother judged me completely and solely for her son's condition, even though we hadn't said anything about what happened, and we wouldn't. That bitch will get what she deserves, and I'll laugh.

Anyway, besides Lily starting to suspect that something more was going on between Petunia and me, not much has changed. Maybe if I didn't have my clones, I would spend less time with them, but since I had them, that wasn't the case.

...

Time passed, a life filled with work and fun. The Aconites went their separate ways when the school year began, but perhaps this one would be different than they expected. Lily and Snape would be at Hogwarts, Petunia would continue living her romantic novel, and I would work with Newt while also hunting with Elise to secure our future home.

Regarding work, it didn't go unnoticed that Newt had a new assistant, especially when this assistant did no less work than Newt himself. My skills, objects, and strange magic could leave even the wizards working in the field puzzled.

Even my name, easy to remember, appeared in the Prophet after some notable jobs. Hiding was no longer an option, but I didn't expose myself to the public eye either. My relationship with Newt was revealed, as well as being a future prodigious magizoologist, and all those things the media invents.

The downside of this fame was that it attracted the attention of people I didn't want, once again. Dumbledore turned his gaze toward me after the forest incident; I hadn't had any problems with him since then, but it seemed he wanted to try getting to know me again.

I knew he was the one who sent Newt, and he possibly received reports from him, so I wasn't completely hidden from his eyes, but I still didn't want to involve myself with him more than necessary.

When the old man unexpectedly arrived at our house, Elise and I escaped. He had his tricks, but so did we, and we evaded him every time he came for a visit.

Newt and Tina talked to us about it, partly due to our rudeness and partly to arrange a meeting that I declined. I made it clear that I didn't want to see Dumbledore without explaining much of the why. Although Newt insisted, I didn't give in.

It was immature to escape every time the old man came, yes, and impolite to leave Newt and Tina in an awkward position with my attitude, too... but they accepted my request, especially Tina. They didn't understand why I suddenly acted this way when in the past, I accepted meeting every friend of Newt's that he introduced me to, but they respected my decision, and I apologized to them by taking charge of dinner that day.

The matter with Dumbledore was postponed, although I received a lecture from Tina about my attitude and advice from Newt regarding beneficial relationships.

Hello everyone, I'm going to start making some time jumps and briefly describe a few things to speed up the story. It's not that I don't enjoy continuing the narration, as there could be many subplots added to this that could prolong it for a long time, but it's time to return to the original timeline. If you wish, you can come up with what happens in this timeline yourselves. For now, I'll take care of creating a few fixed scenes for the characters, one or two per character, and then we'll return to the original time.
