Jasmin, Avery, Devin, and Emy hang out by the pool. They're drinking beer. Even though Avery gets close to them, she always carries her katana. She doesn't talk to them nearly as much as she used to. She's quiet, and she seems strong. She looked at the two as if she no longer trusted them.
"Damn, did her husband break all her bones?" Emy said.
Avery stated that because Spaniards despised people like us, most women back then suffered beatings at the hands of their husbands.
"Wow. Avery, you're amazing. I am so proud of you." Emy said. "You have grown up, and you still have the strength. You can also see past events, like what happened to the woman."
Avery only smiled and said nothing. "That's not a skill; it's part of a prayer or something she did. She wrote it on her sword's blade, in case you missed it." Devin said.
"I didn't realize you were familiar with our situation," Avery said.
