After looking at the sun rise for a few minutes, it starts to hit him what type of situation he's in. A fantasy world with powers meant it was a law of the jungle type world, and slavery's existence had been confirmed by Ruby. He has to take every word he hears with a grain of salt, and he probably can't trust anyone. He's going to have to be average, his ability's existence would probably cause an uproar in society. While some influential figures would play nice, he was more than certain others would come for his life. So he had to go cross-check a few thing with Ruby first, and pick his main element for now.
"Well Ruby, I never got that ability demonstration, care to do it now?" Johnathan's saying this while collapsing the earth dome they slept in, he had already taken whatever might be lying around in there.
"Sure" keeping it nice and simple, she fires a bolt of blue fire at a tree, after a minute and 50 seconds, the tree has been burnt to a solid black, yet the flames never spread. Johnathan whistle's wondering how in the name of god that's fair, as normal fire would need around half a day to burn a tree down. After the demonstration, she adds "Now show me what you can do."
"Fine then, but like your secret this stays under wraps, under no circumstances do you mention this to anyone, i'm showing you now to make sure you don't freeze up in combat, understand?"
He then proceeds to summon a fireball and hit a tree, he then douses this with water. The leftover water is all blown into one spot where it freezes into a tiny dragon on a earth pedestal. He then slits his wrist and makes a dagger out of blood, he then heals his wound, and throws it a the ice sculpture and breaks it. The knife releases a small electric discharge upon contact with the sculpture. Then a small hole opens bellow the the knife falls in and appears in Johnathan's right hand.
Ruby just stands there for a minute, unable to comprehend what just happened. Magic had many rules, and he had just gone and broken all of them. After a minute or so Johnathan taps her on the shoulder to get her out of her thoughts.
"Ready to leave?" he asks impatiently, clearly not wanting to delay for much longer.
"Y-yeah, sure, let's go" she says it like she's in some kind of a daze. She dashes until she reaches Johnathan then starts walking alongside him. Looking curiously at him.
3 hours later, Ruby says she needs a break, and it's about lunchtime anyways, so they decried to stop for half an hour to eat. As getting to a nearby village or town would be preferable to camping outside again.
After eating some more of the bread, they both get up and keep walking, While the suns almost set, they find a town, and decide to rest there for the night. They walk to the gate and are stopped when they go near the guards. Johnathan quickly changes his eyes to try and amplify their desire to not bother with them.
Fortunately for them, it works. Seems guards will always be underpaid no matter what, probably because they're so lazy. But whatever for a paycheck seems to be there mentality, and Johnathan takes note of this for later.
After walking around town for a while, Johnathan realizes he has no idea about the currency system, so he asks the system about it. "Hey system, could you tell me about the currency system used in Nyx?"
[The base currency is coppers coins. 100 copper coins are 1 silver coins. 50 silver is 1 gold. 25 gold is one platinum. For reference, a loaf of bread commonly goes for 3 copper coins.]
Armed with basic knowledge about the world, he then asks the questions hes neglected.
"How much money do we have right now, and do you have any ideas for a get rich quick scheme?" he asks all this in a low voice, so no thieves get any ideas.
"We have a total of 5 silver and 32 bronze, this can get us 2 weeks worth of lodgings at a cheap inn, as for getting more money, we should register as adventures. and do some requests. On that note, please don't refer to me as Ruby anymore. I'l go by Scarlet." She whispers this back to him and then points to a building that seems to be barley standing. "That seems to be the worst inn in town. The perfect place for random travelers, and our new home for the next 2 weeks." Ruby said dejectedly.
