After that horrible event, I hung out with Paige for a while then I went back to the orphanage. I slept and woke up at like 7 am to some sort of talking in the hallway. It was mid-term break now, so I did not have school, neither did anyone else in the orphanage, so it was really puzzling to me why people were up so early.
Relentlessly, I went out to see what was going on. And as soon as I stepped outside my room all eyes were on me. I was frightened and kinda felt special because no one was looking disgusted at me, instead they were looking at me in awe. I was confused for a moment, then I saw Paige and her parents sorting out some papers. I thought they were giving her up for adoption but they seemed like such loving parents so that was impossible. I was proven right when I caught a glimpse of Paige's face, she was smiling from ear to ear. I was even more confused. When they were done, Paige saw me and ran to me and before I even knew what was happening she hugged me so tight I almost lost air.
"Jessie I have some good news for you."
"What is it?"
"You are my sister now, happy birthday Jesse!"
I forgot about everything, I stood shocked looking at Paige, expressionless, with my mouth wide open as if I am waiting for someone to feed me as a toddler. When I finally managed to digest everything I hugged Paige and her parents for so long I jumped back at the thought of them being annoyed. I apologized quickly and thanked them. They said that it was ok and it was the least they could do.
"Hurry up sis, go pack your bags, here let me help you."
After that, I went outside where a crowd had already gathered with orphans and even some adults looking at us as we passed by. When I saw our ride to their house, my jaw literally dropped. I saw the most flashiest limo I've ever seen in my favorite color, blue! I was awestruck. And it even had my name on it wishing me a happy birthday with balloons and even a chauffeur! I turned to Paige with my mouth open, she just gave me a wink and ran to the limo.
"Surprise!" She screamed.
"OMG thank you guys so much!" I yelled.
I went into the limo and I had the best ride ever. I could not believe it. While I was still trying to digest what had just happened, I asked Paige something.
"Why, why did you do this?"
"OH MY GOSH JESSE! Do I really have to explain everything to you?" she yelled jokingly
"Uh- yeah." I joked
"Ok then let me ask you two questions. Why, why am I your friend? What did I promise you when we first met?"
Then it hit me. She promised that she would help me to convince everyone that I was not like my parents. OMG did she really?
"OMG! I love you Paige."
"Love you too sis."
And we hugged.
I reached their house and obviously, it was a huge, beautiful, and cozy mansion. I was excited to live there. I guess I forgot to tell you guys an important detail about Paige. Well, here it is now. She is basically loaded. Yup you heard me right she and her family are rich. So I was not surprised when I saw their mansion. But I was excited at the thought that I am going to be living there.
When we went in, we were greeted at the door by a butler who took all my bags while Paige led me to my room. When I went inside my new room, my jaw literally dropped to the floor. It was the most beautiful bedroom I have ever seen in my life.
I could not understand but I kept my mouth shut and turned to Paige, my mouth still open. That crazy girl left my mouth open with just a wink.
"You are crazy," I managed to mumble, shaking my head in disbelief.
"I know," she said, in way that made me feel like this was just the beginning.
