After his assistant had left him in Ellie's house, Hermes paced up and down in the small hall, unable to still his anxious heart that seemed to pick up speed with every passing second.
His eyes automatically shifted to the window on hs left, a little distance in the kitchen that displayed the dark, moonless sky. His ears pricked with every sound he heard outside and once, thinking Ellie's sister had come home, he had dashed for the door in his haste to meet her.
However, it had turned out to be the neighbor's dog prancing around outside, and Hermes had been left with no option than to return back to the hall and wait for the lady.
