The silence that descended after Ethan's answer to Ellie's question was almost tangible. In the small, furniture clustered room, the chirping of crickets outside did well to accentuate the confusion, disbelief and even the undisguised ridicule on the faces of Ethan's audience.
Already expecting this kind of reaction from his friends, Ethan did not let it deter him as he waited for his words to sink in before trying to justify them. After-all, if he hadn't known Hermes's origin as a supernatural, even he would have had a hard time believing the Protector when he told him about other supernaturals. So needless to say, Ethan knew exactly how his friends felt right now.
"You're kidding, right?" Joseph finally broke the heavy silence that had descended in the room after Ethan's blunder.
"No, I'm not. You all saw that Golden light thingy, didn't you?" Ethan asked everyone, and they all reluctantly nodded their agreement at his question.
