[Aiden's POV]
"Eli! Why do you ignore me?! Can't you see my love! How can you ignore me for that bast*rd?!" I shouted in anger.
I stare down at the face of the love of my life with bloodshot eyes. I kept searching for a trace of the kind young girl that I once fell in love with as I held her arm.
"Let go of me, you bastard! What I do or don't do is of no concern to you! Why can't you leave me alone!? GO AWAY!" She replied as her hands suddenly flashed white and I was sent flying as she pushed me away.
I slam into a wall, head first, and fell to the ground limply. The frost that encased my hand had fallen off with the impact.
"Aiden!"
I could faintly hear someone calling for me but my consciousness was already beginning to fade. As the lights turnt to black, the only thought that remained in my mind as I looked at her was:
'How can you be so heartless'.
[Elisa's POV]
I could see blood pooling beneath that bast- Aiden's head. I didn't mean to send him flying. Who would've expected my Code to achieve a breakthrough when rejecting this fool.
"Uncle Yan! Call the healer, NOW!"
Seeing Uncle Yan, my personal butler hurrying off I turn back and looked at the face that I'd come to despise.
He was a handsome man, that much I could agree. His slightly wavy ink-black hair, long lashes and dark eyebrows suited his face well. His strong jaw only further accentuated his good looks.
'If only he was stronger and had a better personality.' I shook my head as soon as the thought formed. His Code was…okay.
He called it "Fit", a rather apt yet insipid description in my opinion. His Code boosted his body to work more efficiently in its bodily functions. It especially worked to keep him healthy both internally and in external appearance.
Sure it was better than being Codeless but it doesn't help much at all when fighting literal monsters that crawl through the Rifts.
I was brought out of my thoughts as I saw his eyelids starting to twitch. Groaning, Aiden got up as he pushed back the bangs that had fallen to cover his eyes.
It was then that I saw his eyes, staring at me. His cool lapis-coloured eyes though familiar made me feel like a stranger for a moment.
His eyes were looking at me…as though I was monster.
[Aiden's POV]
'What the f*ck!'
I remember everything. My life as a baby, that time I fell into the toilet bowl and even that time I accidentally trapped myself in the refrigerator when I was around 2 and half years old…
Good times.
But that's not all!
The memories of my past life were unlocked thanks to my concussion. I remember reading a novel on my phone as I crossed a road.
Then BAM, a Bugatti Veyron sent me flying like an unfettered kite.
But the part that really flipped my world upside down was the novel I was reading.
"Dreams and Drifters"
A pretty cliche light novel about a young boy going from weak to strong, fighting monsters and random canon fodder alike, and getting the girl. Pretty basic stuff.
It was a pretty good read…at least until the point I had reached before getting rammed.
I shook my head, forcing my hyperactive mind to shut up for a few seconds as I stared into the eyes of my love.
I was terrified.
After all, how could remain calm when you realise that your crush would end up killing you one day…

I scramble to my feet as soon as I could, backing away from the woman in front of me.
Her eyes, cold and unfeeling as always, stared at me. I can't seem to recall when it started but Eli- uh, Elisa started to get tired of me. She began to push me away, outright ignoring me.
I tried to ignore the signs.
I wanted to believe.
I wanted to fool myself and remain in my own fantasy.
"Umm, I'm sorry for bothering you. You won't see me again just like you wanted. So um, goodbye!"
And with that said I retreated with my nonexistent tail between my legs, exactly like the weakling I was. I could see her cold mask crack for once and a confused expression was what remained on her face.
I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts as I got into my greyish-blue Hellcat Redeye.
I look up, only to see a beautiful clear sky.
*sigh*

I soon reach my house; a gated two story building, and parked my car in my garage.
I unlock the door and proceed to unwind in the same routinely manner I do everyday.
•Hanging up my keys.
•Replacing my shoes with a pair of fluffy slippers.
•A quick shower.
•Changing my clothes to my pajamas.
•etc
Walking into the kitchen only to seemed to help accentuate my hunger and serve as a funny reminder to how I was brutally rejected(as usual) for a lunch date.
*BZZ* *BZZ*
Just as I was about to prepare some food, my phone started to vibrate. I put the call on speaker feeling depressed knowing full well why and who was calling me.
"A family meeting is going to be held in 30 minutes. Drop everything you're doing and attend. You better not be tardy." I could hear my father, Nathaniel Star's stern voice through the phone.
"I'm not going." I replied coolly.
"What?"
"I'm. Not. Going." I stressed each word as I, for the second time ever in my life rebelled against my father.
"Are you drunk?! Cause I don't care what crack-smack-granny bullsh*t you're on, you WILL get you're ass down here!" I swear his voice was loud enough for my neighbours to hear. Maybe he should've gone into Opera instead of business.
"I already know…I'll remove Star from my name in a few days. And I'm leaving within this week…happy?"
"…you have a mole in the family?! Who-? Never mind…weeding out your informant can be used as a test for Xavier. Anyways, I took the liberty to freeze all the bank accounts tied to the family that you own…goodbye."
*BOOP* *BOOP*
And just like that, he hung up.
"So cold…"
I never was really that loved in the family. A bastard child of a maid who abandoned said child after getting a cheque was not something the Star family could be proud about. When it came out that my Code was virtually useless in combat, the little amount of superficial care I was shown too was lost.
The only thing keeping me in this combat oriented family was my relationship with the Frost family's heir. Like the Stars, they too were a family that had existed for ages and were also combat oriented.
Elisa and I met in Kindergarten, and somehow I fell for her. We dated throughout middle school in secret. I even proposed after prom of Highschool. But I learnt what true despair was when it came out what my Code was.
Codes awaken between the ages 13 and 19. I had always lied saying that my Code hadn't awakened yet, hoping that I would reawaken my Code.
Life had been downhill from there as I desperately struggled to win her affection back. Alas, it was all for naught.
The reason for my outburst and the family meeting was due to Elisa's re-engagement…to my brother. Well half brother or step brother is a more apt term but potato potahto.
His Code unlike mine, was really useful in combat. I don't really remember what he called it but in essence it allowed him to produce and fire fireballs from his hands.
*Sigh*
I pull out my laptop and book the earliest flight to the States. Living in England is not a viable option anymore as I just really wanted to get away from my estranged family. Not like they would care either way. I quickly pack all my clothes and important belongings. Most of my money was in some way tied back to the family. Now that I was kicked out, all my accounts should be frozen. All I had left to my name are a few properties that I had acquired under a different name back when I had visited the US in the past and half a million dollars that I had made without the family knowing.
I slung my carry-on on my shoulder as I pull my luggage along with me to the car. Just as I was about to depart, I look back at my modest house...well not mine anymore I guess.
