Lichenstroff POV
I froze. Chills ran through my body and up my spine. I turned slowly and saw Amedis standing in the doorway, a malicious smile on his face.
“Did you really think I wouldn’t notice you running around playing spy, John?” Amedis laughed, “It took me a while to see through your illusion magic, but even before then, I could sense someone was in my domain who should not have been.”
I straightened up and faced him, hiding the fear from my eyes.
“I’m just here for the humans your men kidnapped, Amedis,” I said as firmly as I could, “Let them go, and so will I.”
“Sorry, Johnny, but…I kinda need them for the birth of my new son,” Amedis said in mock apology. “I’m sure with all your sneaking around that you’ve already learned about your new baby brother.”
My fear was replaced with anger. I clenched my fists, and the mana in the air crackled with destructive energy.
