Loren POV
The man I loved was now dead. Killed by the monster that I was supposed to kill but failed. Both he and Connor had died because I was too weak to kill Amedis on my own. Riley was still in a coma, and Jamaia was close to having a mental breakdown.
No one had seen or heard from Sarrah or Gil. I did not even want to consider the possibility that they were dead as well, but nothing seemed to prove otherwise.
We had lost.
Silverstone was lost.
And very soon, Amedis would come after me again once he had recovered from the battle, armed with the secrets and relics that Silverstone had kept hidden from the world for centuries.
“Where will you go?” Jam asked me as we stood in the courtyard of the Council’s headquarters.
“Probably to Alex’s parents. They should know what happened to him from me,” I said, trying my best not to break down into tears.
“I should probably track down Connor’s parents as well.”
Riley’s dad was already on his way. He didn’t have any other family.
