Amedis POV
The night air was as cold as ice in the Northern Mountains, but having been here for centuries I have adapted to the frigid temperatures, even craved it when I occasionally descended from the summit. But now the brisk winds did not bring me comfort, for I felt in its breath a spark of fire that I had not felt in twenty years.
“It seems the new Rose has finally bloomed,” I said softly to my beta, Rhea. “The Prophecy will drive her to my doorstep soon, it yearns for my death and it will make it so that she does too.”
Rhea stood beside me as we gazed down upon the world below us and she placed a hand on my shoulder. She was the only member of my pack who would dare display such intimacy with an Ancient. It was her bold spirit that inclined me to make her my beta.
“Is her face still obscured in your dreams, my Lord?” Rhea questioned.
“No,” I replied plainly, “I see her face as clear as a midnight sun, but when I awaken the memory is wiped from my mind.
